Sony needs to update the firmware to enable 4D graphics before the 1080p games can be displayed

Explain 4D, Dr. Brown.Â
[QUOTE="Nike_Air"]In development. Please tell me there are other games that run in 1080p on the PS3, because if the 360 has more 1080p games than the "true HD console" I might die laughing.

What 1080p games does the 360 has?Â

I know for sure Lost Planet and Virtua Tennis, I think there might be one or two more. I'm not trying to be fanboyish or anything, its just I couldn't think of a single PS3 title that runs in 1080p, which is pretty funny considering how Sony hyped it as the only true HD console.[QUOTE="gromit007"]Sony needs to update the firmware to enable 4D graphics before the 1080p games can be displayed

As long as the PS3 still outputs in frames, it will never have 4D graphics, sorry. It's theoretically possible to add a fourth spacial dimension, but that would be very diffucult to play in. Maybe a analog stick to strafe, an analog stick to turn, and the sixaxis can control ana and kata.

Lost Planet is upscaled 1080p, it is not natively rendered at that resolution.Â

I have no idea what that means, but I do know Lost Planet running in 1080p however it does it is damn pretty.Lair, Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, and Devil May Cry 4 all are confirmed to be developed in 1080p. You can actually play the 1080p demo of Sigma today, if you'd like. On the market, now, however, I believe there are no 1080p games. Big whoop. They're coming, en masse. Probably 40% of the new games will be 1080p. That's a pretty liberal guess, but three games already confirmed, I'm relatively sure the percentages will improve drastically, and soon.Redfingers
Ridge Racer 7, NBA Live 2007 and I think NBA 2k7

It means that images are scaled from 720p to 1080p by the 360's scaling chip. The PS3 renders 1080p images and displays them at that resoultion. There is no post render scaling done by the PS3. Â

Yeah but how much of a difference does that make? You're basically taking a 1 million pixel image (720p) and in effect stretching it to 2 million pixels (1080p). It can look really pretty but never the same as a true natively rendered 2 million pixel 1080p image. Â
