Well certain obsessed lemmings just read a ton of TLoU2 reviews, lol.

As for me, I honestly haven't read one in years. I tend to think for myself.

The polygon LoU2 review. Those geniuses are masters of satire, I encourage all to give it a read.

I enjoy reading reviews especially on games I am planning to buy. Sometimes they gave good points why review is scored lower or higher than average and enjoyed the reactions in comments especially by deluded fans in comment section.

Do hate it though when reviewers don't give strong opinion on why he likes or dislike the game or its mechanics.

Most recently I revisited Demon's souls review by Kevin VanOrd due to recent remake announcement.

@Pedro: Well you could just look in the review thread. Not too hard to see who's citing reviews. One of them has been up in there like every day, aka 'daily'.

Why do you need him to tell you if a game is good or not?

Play it,and review it,that’s the only review you and anyone should trust

Gmanlives has good reviews, mostly fps

ACG has great reviews, he really has a way with explaining game genres in depth

Worthabuy is someone who I don't take seriously, but at least he has good arguments most of the time

Reading thoigh? Yeah I read a ton of reviews, steam reviews.

Can’t remember. I don’t trust them not to spoil things I rather discovered myself. I do scroll down to look at positives/negatives and the score though.

I dont read or look at reviews. I did in the past and everytime i looked at a review or read one, i was mixed into wether or not to buy the game. It was actually harder for me to enjoy a game. So what i do now is if the game looks good onnthe back of the box, or if it sounds good, i buy it.

I have enjoyed so many more games that i wouldnt have if i kept reading and watching reviews. For me at least, it realky does ruin the enjoyment factor of a game.

There is plenty articles and trailers to help decide if a game is “for you” before you hand over £45,

I read all reviews. Scores don't mean shit in the grand scheme of things.

If anything, the higher the score, the more wary I am. Something with such broad appeal might be quality, but takes little risk and alienates no one, ultimately making it nothing special.

Games with scores in the 6 or 7 range are built for specific kinds of people, and if you like the genre it is likely a better game for you than something scored an 8 or 9 made for everyone.

I think the idea is you read reviews before you buy the game to get an idea of whether or not it's going to be your thing.

I read a lot of reviews if a game is coming up for release that I'm interested in. Often they'll highlight game mechanics that tell me straight away I'd hate it.

You don't have to pay the slightest bit of attention to scores. Just read the information given and make up your own mind. It's really not difficult.

I read/watch reviews all the time. I find it funny that people seem to equate not doing so to one thinking for oneself. Reviews are information that one can process while they do think for themselves. Anyway the last one that I read/watched was GameSpot’s spoiler review for The Last of Us 2.

All the time, can't remember last one, though. They're someone's opinion. I find they can sometimes inform me, as there's reviewers whose tastes I tend to align with. But it's subjective.

IGN's Battle for Bikini Bottom.

I read a couple reviews for games that I have interest in whenever they come out. I don't think they tend to sway me much one way or the other unless they're really really bad. I still plan on giving the Spongebob game a try even though reviews have been pretty negative.

@Archangel3371: I just don't care to ever read reviews. If a game looks nice and has a generally positive reception, I will probably play it anyway. I will never play a game that gets great reviews and looks boring. Reading that stuff just wastes my time.

@Archangel3371: sometimes that information can ruin the game though. I have become more iffy in games even with the slightest glitch or bug. Because of that i broke away from reviews. Reviews seem to put ne on notice for bugs and glitches before i even have a chance to try it. In that case, i am more inclined to pass.

@ezekiel43: Well sure, obviously one should use their own discretion. I don’t need to read a review on every game I choose to purchase or not too purchase. I just find it kind of funny that some people throw out blanket statements about not reading reviews because they like to think for themselves. It’s not like you can’t do both.

@Archangel3371: not reading reviews isnt because “i like to think for myself”. Its the fact that a lot of times people would have played it and maybe enjoyed the gane if they didnt read the reviews.

I say this because i am looking back to when i was a kid, biking up to the store to rent a game. A lot of us just looked on the back at the pictures and read it. We would decide to rent the gamebor buy it. When looking back, I wasn’t nearly as picky and yet now i am and after looking at that problem, its mainly because i statted reading reviews. So what i did was cut out looking at reviews and just bought the game based on “it looks cool”. I am just saying that i have enjoyed more games that way.

Now if people want to stop reading reciews because it makes them deel as if they are thinking for themselves, than so be it. How would something like that bother anyone else since its not even your life. Haha

I said, “I find it funny when people say that they don’t read reviews because they like to think for themselves.” You said that this was not the reason that you choose to not read reviews so obviously my comment was not directed at you. You choose to not read reviews for a DIFFERENT reason.

Only read reviews for games I have no prior knowledge beforehand and for games I'm on the fence about. YouTube reviews I only watch as entertainment after I've played the game myself because they always show clips from further in the game than I would prefer.

Not in a long time. I'll look at scores every now and then, or look at MC, but it doesn't decide what I play. If I see bad review scores across the board, and some wonky-ass gameplay, or story aspect, that may dissuade me, but i don't rely on reviews in any real way.

Yeah, anyway. 🖕

The last time i actually read a review before purchasing a game was over two years ago. Now, i will look at reviews for it after i have played the game to see how my thoughts and enjoyment match up with the review.

@crazy_chemist: Right back at you. 😅

Ok? I don’t read reviews all the time either and sometimes I too will read them after just to hear what they thought of the game as well.

Again my comment was not directed at you and it wasn’t a disparaging comment, it was just something that I find to be “funny”. Quit trying to take offence when none was given.

About 1:30 pm. I read reviews all the time to get a general gist of what to expect to expect, particularly if it's a genre I'm not very familiar with.

A good example is that this year I decided to try to give JRPGs a fair shake. I used reviews to get a good representation of styles, stories, and systems, and unfortunately I've decided that they are just not something I'm interested in. I think it's mostly the lack of grounding I have in the concepts of their stories because the narrative never grabs my attention.
