For me...never. Why in the world would I want to buy new hardware if most of the new releases are going to nickle and dime the customer? EA, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Paradox entertainment, Nintendo, and Polyphony have, among others, officially soured my perceptions of next gen gaming. GT sport's option to pay a real world dollar to buy a new car, outlandish prices for Paradoxes' addons, EA, do I even need to say, and the fact that Nintindo somehow scammed most of their fanbase into being excited for new OVERPRICED characters for their fighting game, no thanks!
Also, the dumbing down of Pokemon has gone too far for me. I can forgive, and heck, even enjoy the exp-share mechanic, but lack of wild battling in let's go Eevee, pikachu and not being able to catch em all in Shield/sword? Even though you could easily patch Eevee/Pikachu and pokemon go to allow transfers between them and Sheild/Sword?
I'll probably rebuild my gaming PC, but it's only going to contain a six core Intel processor (Yeah yeah, I know Ryzen is better but that chip-set has left a metaphorical bad taste in my mouth after two complete computer failures), 16 GB of ram and eventually an RX 580 graphics card. Oh, and a good, ATX motherboard. So I really wouldn't call it a next gen PC.
