SMG is much more than a retread, and Prime 3 is an excellent shooter. I actually didn't enjoy Halo 3's campaign very much, so it's easily bested by Prime 3.
And WTF are you talking about with the on-line coop? I'm beginning to think this is a joke thread.

Mario was on the wii, of course it dated in terms of tech. The funny thing is this game is better than 98% of games ever released. So if its dated then I want more dated games. (Ask people to post Mario gifs)

The FPS genre is the most stale at this point.
Unfortunately I agree. Even an ancient genre on life support -- platformers -- gets innovation once in awhile. It's hard to tell one console FPS from another.
