When will SW show respect to the oldest HnS franchise?

Dynasty Warriors has been around since the PS1 days and still continues to exist. The PS4 version of 8 with Xtreme Legends expansion pack comes out next year. Do you still play this ages old franchise? The Godfather of Hack n Slash? Where is the love?

Haven't played the series in a long time, but Dynasty Warriors 3 was one of my favorite games on the PS2. The open battles were fun.

The DW games are very bland. That's why I don't give them love/respect.

@GreySeal9: How many and which ones have you played? As someone who's played 4,5,7, and 8, they play very differently to me. In fact theyve gotten even crazier with some of the weapons you can use, like an arm cannon, floating swords, a bladed yo yo, and hook swords.

I think i've played a Dynasty Warriors on PS1.... Doesn't matter, Devil May Cry is the GOAT hack and slash. If Bayonetta 2 is at GOATly as the first one then it will take DMCs place.

I've played two of them and I couldn't tell you which ones they were (they were on the PS2 tho). But they struck me as being very repetitive and lazy efforts, especially the environments, which game across like a massive copy-paste job.

I got the latest one. First DW game I purchased, and first I played since DW4 on the PS2. I dig it, but its not perfect. I think there are better games in the genre.

@wolverine4262: What dont you dig? It annoys me that they didnt bother doing voices at camp and ambition mode. Hopefully they fix that in the expansion

Mostly for me its the game engine. It needs a lot of work. Ambition Mode runs sub 30 fps all the time. Its a lot of fun, but the game could look and perform significantly better.

I love Dynasty Warriors but part 1 was a 1 on 1 fighting game. Sengoku Basara has a better fighting engine as well but Dynasty Warriors has the character roster.

My version of the game has bonus content, and can play in higher resolution (if I could just get the darn 3rd party patch to work)

And thus it's exclusive, and not the game YOU like. You like the Xbox 360 version; not the PC-exclusive version.

Hack N Slash was around way before that game was. Golden Axe was my favorite growing up.

The DW games that started on the PS2 were decent. I still like some of those, but after that it was just very repetitive. I honestly didn't see any reason to buy these games anymore as it was just more of the same.

You do realize that it's not the oldest Hack'nslash franchise? in fact, the fact you think the first DW on the PS1 is a HNS tells me you never played it.

You have to give the series credit for possibly having the most loyal fanbase of all time. Looking at sales, it's clear the same people are buying each entry with a few exceptions.

@Jakandsigz: Yes I know it started as a fighting game but that doesnt mean its not the longest running hack n slash franchise. Its been around since 1997. Deal with it.

Longevity in a series is only praise worthy if it didn't stagnate in that time.

Only worthwhile one is God of War.

If there's a copy of DW game from 3 onward, I would still enjoy them without any problem. The game is timeless. However, I don't consider them more than just mindless fun.

The franchise lacks many things to be considered a great HnS that can stand along side of DMC, NG, Bayonetta.

There're actually quite a few back and forth switching in core gameplay system, as well as new systems are introduced. To be frank, I'd say there's more differences between each DW installment than btw each CoD installment.
