What's your reason for visiting SW?

As a life-long gamer (37), and an owner of a capable PC, PS4 and X1X. I come here for the lulz, seeing people get butthurt reminds me of my grade school playground days of "SNES vs Genesis", and I love it.

So I come here to feed off the anguish of the more militant pc and or console enthusiasts. To someone in my postion i.e. enough disposable income to have consoles and PC, it makes sense to just have them all if I want to game them all.

I guess this question is more positioned towards those who have enough income but for some reason are adamant about being PC-only or a console-only gamer.

Mostly the news. People post gaming news here, and they're usually quicker than GameSpot. Reading the posts of morons is quite amusing as well.

Used to be for news and some decent convos. Now when every conversation is someone calling someone else butthurt...cause I get bored or sitting on the shitter like now

It's the only active forum around here on Gamespot. I'm really not crazy for the lolz, just engaging gaming conversation with GS users and see if anything gaming news related by the users posting it here on SW.

I'd second this! Aside from reading radical fanboys, I'm more interested seeing what's new news and not from GS Staff that cannot post quality news worth a crap.

I just click the threads that are on the front page.

And that's saying alot considering how much busier SW used to be. Now it's so dead half the time. Used to be a story couldn't stay on page one for an hour, now they are there for weeks.

The only people to blame for other forums not being active is... well... you.

I like discussion/debate in general. Gaming is one of my hobbies so naturally I'd be here. Good to learn and bounce ideas off others. I like the community here too. I also like reading people's opinions on controversial subjects and seeing from their viewpoint.

I feel about 70% of the threads in System Wars could be moved to Games Discussion.

But other forums don't allow as much system vs system debate. Aka this is the only forum that sort of allows fighting.

Right, and I get that, but when the title of the thread is "What do you think of 'random game name?'" I feel that is a general discussion about a game.

You don't have to argue about the platform when you can argue about the game.

I like System Wars, just wish we could also argue about games instead of systems. I find arguing over games more meaningful because there is more substance to it, arguing over what system you prefer is generally dumb. Dumb fun, mostly, but still dumb.

I could debate and argue for hours with someone as to why I like the older Splinter Cell games and they like the newer ones, but the argument over what platform they like is usually "Yeah, well, consoles are lame and PC is best for reasons x, y, z" or vice versa.

I am in the same boat as the OP. I too have the disposable income to own all the latest and greatest for games from consoles to PC and I play them all. At different times I change my preference depending on the software. Right now its the X1X for RDR2 before that...my Pro for Spiderman and GoW and Far Cry 5 on PC before that.

I come to read the funny arguments for a good chuckle. It can get old sometimes as folks seem to recycle the same rhetoric like memes and sayings over and over again. It's still good times when I'm bored and sitting on my phone browsing the posts.

I check in once a month to make sure Cup is still alive.

I mainly come here to talk about games and gaming, share opinions on what I’m looking forward to and see what others are looking forward to as well. I sometimes see some news or info here that I haven’t seen before. I also do get a chuckle from some of the delusional fanboys from time to time.

Yup. I was doing it for a while when I started coming around here. People got all pissed at me because 1) they can't be total assholes over there and they want to. 2) they claimed Games Discussion is dead. Except... if their threads were there and the exact same discussion went on... then GD wouldn't be dead, now would it?

I'm pretty convinced the only real reason is #1.

I think we are all a little sick and twisted here on System Wars. It really is a waste of time and we could be doing something much more productive, but damn is it ever amusing. hehe :)

Reading all the hot air and bullshit helps get me through my boring ass day at work. If not for work, I wouldn't be here at all.

yea thats about where i'm at. slow days/moments are work are the ones I find myself browsing this site

plus its probably a better and less harmful outlet for internet stupidity than arguing about politics on social media

It's probably because I'm used to coming here and it allows the extra dynamic of system vs system discussion. It's nice having everything in one place rather than segmented because it allows multiple avenues of discussion to occur simultaneously. System Wars basically covers everything and it has a nice ring to it.

I only visit StormWind to attack it on my Horde rogue.

Visit Ghost's latest Metro/Stalker/hardcore threads and laugh at cows.

to hype up good consoles that are winning and to tear down bad consoles that fucked up and did something wrong in the gaming community thats my goal here

I like taking in the salt. There's things you can say about consoles here that you just can't in other places... it's liberating.

I find the insights here against the less favored platform interesting.

When Charizard1605 left GS, this place really hit rock bottom big time! He was making good quality threads, it kept getting newer threads by the day. And most of the decent posters left after Charizard left.

I can agree with uninspiredcup on this one. I barely make any threads in SW in fact, talking about how the Xbox One sucks was fun at first in the beginning of this gen but now, they are all boring and burned out. Yeah I'm part of the problem because I don't make threads that much, there's nothing on my mind what to talk about so yeah, I'm sure other decent users feel the same way. The Cows still love making Xbox One threads, so hey, they get credit for contributing making the same old threads lol.

Just to know what gamers think about popular games and systems. I often take humor at the partisanship among gamers who are more loyal to companies or their systems than games. After decades of experiencing partisanship in my adult life, I am sick of it and wish that people stop artificially separating themselves and focus on what unites us.

Nowadays it's for gaming news and reading people argue fanboy style. It's quite enjoyable. Back in 06 when I started visiting SW it was for all the awesome conversations there was to be had about games.
