PC gaming hardware.

But really, it is SNES & Sega Dreamcast but Switch is right where it's at for me.

Looking at consoles I'd say either Genesis, N64, or the original Xbox

I have massive nostalgia for systems like Gamecube, Xbox, Gameboy Colour & Advance etc, but honestly I'd probably say my favourite gaming system is Switch. At this stage in my life, it's just everything I want in a gaming system and has the most games I want to play.

Gotta go with the SNES. It has the greatest game of all time in Chrono Trigger. It also has so many fantastic games such as:

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Sparkster
  • Final Fight 1, 2, and 3
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Final Fantasy II and III
  • Breath of Fire 1 and 2
  • Sparkster
  • Axelay
  • Mega Man X, X2, and X3
  • Super Mario World

So many others I could list.

People saying PC LMFAO.

For me its a tie with Sega Game Gear/Master System/Mega Drive/Mega CD/32X/Saturn/Dreamcast.

PC is such a cop out answer lol. PC used to be distinct, but not really anymore. Only advantage I would give it is real time strategy games. PS4 and Switch are becoming my favorite consoles. It's like we're experiencing a renaissance of the 5th gen.

Yes, because having the most diverse library of games across all genres, the biggest indie market and the biggest multiplayer communities on any platform... definitely not "distinct" at all.

99% of games today are multiplats and they work better on PC.

What's so diverse about the library? As far as games I care about, real time strategy is the clear advantage. I would hate playing games like Starcraft on a console. Other than that, the vast majority of games on PC can be played on console. And before you go saying that PC has thousands of games and all that, I don't have time to play thousands of games lol. I play games I want to play. I'm not saying PC sucks, I enjoy it. But other than playing some really demanding games like RDR 2, or Witcher, or even Assassin's Creed, the PC advantage is limited. Games like Resident Evil 2, DMC 5, Call of Duty, etc all play the same across systems as far as I can tell (In some cases, PC version is actually worse i.e. Nier Automata is a great example.) Sony first party games look stunning and play really well. Nintendo still has Zelda, Mario, Fire Emblem, and other games you can't get anywhere else. Even with a game like Dragon Quest 11, I enjoyed it most on Switch, even though it's jaggies galore lol. It has the best features and and the portability is great. As far as multiplayer, I don't know what the stats are, but I imagine Call of Duty on consoles probably has a lot more players online than PC. These games routinely sell tens of millions on console. Again, I'm not saying PC is bad, in fact it's great, but saying it's my favorite would be to neglect all of the things I've enjoyed about PS4 and Switch.

Majority of mainstream gamers are casuals. of course they would prefer console over PC and of course no PC gamer give a crap about COD thats why most of them playing online on console.

Doom and Doom Eternal on other hand play better on PC and more PC gamers than console gamers care about them since they are the game we cant imagine playing them with controller.

Another vote for the PC from me. It is, without exception, the best platform to play games on. Its diversity, flexibility and the level of control it gives to the player is without peer. it also has no shortage in games either.

The only reason i have any console is for exclusives. It would be incredibly rare for me to even consider getting any multiplat on a console when the PC is an option.

As far as consoles go: The PS1 gets the nod, though its close with the snes and the wii (lots of gems in the rough...though an awful lot of rough).

Hands down the OG Xbox. Awesome power for its time, amazing selection of games, best multiplats, unrivalled controller, feature rich, and online multiplayer wouldn’t be where it is today if it weren’t for the Xbox.

Worst console - the ps2. Primarily because its competitor, the Xbox, did everything better.

For me the PC takes the spot. Needless to say all my friends are on consoles which i have no problem at all with. Currently consoles is where i am doing most of my gaming right now. I tend to go back and forth.

For consoles, i would say whatever is currently out. Both PS4 and Xbox one. I really dont go back for nostalgia as i tend to get disappointed.

That's basically a three way tie between the Genesis, GameCube, and PS2.

Obviously, that's not counting PC. I love the many gaming PCs I've built over the years - and the PC gaming ecosystem itself - in a unique way to consoles. They're things I use for different experiences, really.

So clearly, diversity doesn't have any meaning for you if you can so easily dismiss "thousands of games". You want to game on a PlayStation platform because of some sense of brand loyalty.

PC has more of everything, and is almost always universally better in every area (outside of optimization).

With my nostalgia googles on, easily the almighty Amiga 500. That system was like 5 years ahead of its time, and its library was insanely good.

That said, i think gaming is better than ever now, especially since indies and VR joined the party. PS4 if i ignore nostalgia factor.
