What's your favorite open world game of the 2010's?

For me this was a hard choice it's between Sleeping Dogs and GTAV. But I'm going to have to go with Sleeping Dogs the Hong Kong setting to this day is one of the best open world game settings in ages something about it is just refreshing. Also the meat and bones of the game the fighting mechanics are really fun and brutal. Along side of the great characters and car radio songs. That's why it's my favorite open world game of the decade. What is yours?

Both have insanely realised worlds, that feel both alive and lived in. You aren't doing missions for the sake of doing missions, or to progress a story, it feels like you are thrown into a world that would exist with or without you.

The Witcher 3 does have some really great side content.

Witcher 3 by a landslide enjoyed every moment of that game beat on 2 different platforms. Game of the generation for me.

GTA 4 came out in 2008.

Yea probably go with Sleeping Dogs.

It was a tie between Witcher 3 and Red Dead 2 for a while but Triss made the decision for me.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would be my number one.

Breath of the Wild by a country mile. Maybe The Phanom Pain, but the open worlding isn't fun as much as the stealth/action at outposts is fun.

Nier automata for being so small I dont get so bored walking to point b.

MGSV because the gameplay is close to perfection. So many options to mess with AI and to tackle missions.

Dang good pick. Forgot FC3 is within this decade.

The Witcher 3 for me. but there have been many I really liked.

Neck and neck between Witcher 3 and RDR 2.

Is Nier Automata counted as open world? If it is, that'd be up there too.

Batman Arkham City, Marvel's Spider-Man, Fallout New Vegas, and GTA V.

I was just playing that game a month ago and still amazed at how good it looks and how well the physics hold up.

Witcher 3 & Horizon: Zero Dawn. I love open-world games.

Horizon Zero Dawn.

Fighting the machines was great fun. I liked the premise , story , world , and a lot of the characters. And it was very beautiful. I can't wait to see where they take the next one. As great as it is , there are some areas for great improvement.

I totally agree with you. Horizon: Zero Dawn is easily my favorite PS4 exclusive game and to this day, it's still looks good and is on par with God of War 4. Since HZD left a cliffhanger, I fully expect a sequel to come later in next-gen.

Probably Far Cry 3 for me.

I absolutely loved Sunset Overdrive on my first playthrough. Some of that has faded, but wanted to give it a shout out since nobody else mentioned it yet.

Skyrim released 2011 and GTAV in 2013. I still play both so they're the obvious choice for me.

The Witcher 3 and Horizo Zero Dawn. Still are fun even after multiple playthroughs and that says a lot because both game are massive and have loads of content.

Probably Skyrim on Switch. I played so much of it. Very few games can get me to wander so far off the main path that by the time I return to the story, I forgot entirely what I was doing.

GTA V gets runner up, followed by Just Cause 3.

Fallout: New Vegas.

Narrowly beats out Witcher3, mostly due to mods.

The Witcher 3 as my favourite. RDR2 comes in second. Followed by GTA V. I also liked Mad Max a lot.

I've also had a lot of fun with the Far Cry series. No, they aren't deep, but they are a very chill experience.

Its hard to chose between The Witcher 3, Skyrim, RDR2 and Zelda Breath of the Wild... All have good reasons why you would chose them over the other and all have reasons why they aren't as good as the others when it comes to having the better open world.

Botw. Runner ups for me include Sleeping Dogs and Spider-Man.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance and two other survival open world games Ark Survival Evolved and Atlas.

Breath of the Wild without a doubt. That game still blows my mind.
