Hello friends. Another awful, bottom of the barrel thread for this, frankly, dying forum, full of sub-par users rotting out as it meets its dismal, pathetic end.

What's your fav easter-egg? I like the Just Cause one.

For reference -

This has been done multiple times. But to leave it in such a rando place, leading the player with music and a portal, much like the video, using the interactive nature of gaming, very good. Filter's abit shit, but that's ok.

That is pretty cool. The most recent one that I think of is classic mode in Doom Eternal.

@xantufrog: Never heard of Summoner. See it's on Steam super cheap, worth playing?

Edit - Sequel as well but doesn't appear to be for sale

@uninspiredcup: I remember liking it, although it's been forever. It looks... rough by today's standards, but the Steam reviews suggest it's aged better than the early poly visuals might suggest!

@xantufrog: Bit of roughness fine. Hell, it adds to the nostalgia sometimes. It's great when one of these 90 early 2000 games pop up. Usually have abit of soul about them find modern games tend to lack.

Add this, alongside Septerra Core and Drakensang to the list of "obscure old shit to play at some point".

not this gen but i did like that if you can find and kill the guy in the lord regent's palace who voices all the propaganda messages over the tannoy throughout the city in dishonored, in the next level he's been replaced a woman voiced by carrie fisher.

there's a pretty strong hint of guybrush threepwood and reference of monkeys in uncharted 4 in one of the pirate puzzles. that was pretty cool, og monkey island is one of my all time favourites.

again not this gen, and not an easter egg per se, but one i really liked from ubisoft, similar to the just cause 4 one, is far cry 3 mid way through the game when you get the flamethrower and descend down onto the weed farm to burn it to the ground and the damian marley and skrillex make it burn den dubstep track suddenly starts up out of nowhere. was actually an awesome backing track to causing mayhem with a flamethrower. nice touch from ubi

Damn, that Just Cause one is great. 😂

The first 3 MGS games were packed with great easter eggs. Always liked the Guy Savage demo. The way it was hidden, the demo itself, the secret codec convos that follow. Good stuff

Don't know of any from this gen.

Diablo II/III - Cow/Pony level.
Fallout New Vegas - "Indianna Jones" in the refrigerator.
Metal Gear Solid - Psycho Mantis scanning the memory card and commenting on some games.
Witcher 2 - dead assassin in the pile of hay.

That's a tough one, I don't think I have a favorite but there's so many that I love. On top of my head I'd say the Psycho Mantis scene in MGS, Shadow Moses Island in MGS4, Link in Super Mario RPG and while this isn't from a game I played I love how Sam Fisher references Solid Snake in this video (around the 0:12 mark):

Just Cause 2 had some cool, simple ones. The beached whale was alright. Can blow it up, too. The big footprint somewhere. The vault from Lost.

@girlusocrazy: Never heard of this one? How do you do this?

Edit nevermind, it was just an April Fool's joke from back in the day. Damn, that was a cruel one.

@vfighter: It was a joke in Electronic Gaming Monthly's easter egg section, but a lot of people didn't get it and thought it was real. The code was almost impossible to do "correctly" because the time you had to complete the input was very short. It created a lot of arguments and bs, such as people lying that they got it to work. That's why it's my favorite.

The code was sent in by "April Fools, From EGM, ha" but this did not register for many people, even though they give a hint beside the screenshot. Another one they did was the Sheng Long easter egg for Street Fighter 2 arcade.

Recently, the references to Alan Wake and the Poets of the Fall song in Control. Historically, I always loved the Marathon stuff Bungie included in Halo.

I honestly can't think of any that I experienced first hand, just want to give a thumbs up to the thread.

Playing Crash in Uncharted 4 was cool (didn't actually play U4)

I think Wolfenstein New Order has some old school content as well.

I guess Nioh 2 made some direct references to Ninja Gaiden which is nice ... but that was also more in the DLC which I did not play.
