What's your fav 2D game of dis gen

Hello. What is your most fav 2D of this gen.

I like Broforce. It's a celebration of action movies and old arcade games like Metal Slug games, while incoportating modern elements A masterpiece, aside from the camera being shit a times. Could probably play it 4-5 times over without getting bored. If all games were this fun, it would be, more fun. Better. Etc....

I’d probably say Octopath Traveler.

Ori and the Blind Forest.

Sonic Mania Plus, though I feel picking it is almost like cheating since it's my game of the gen, a top 5 favorite game of all-time, and second favorite Sonic game. So far I've beaten it over 20 times across three different platforms, so it has definitely earned a spot on my regular rotation.

Other 2D platformers that I've loved are Azure Striker Gunvolt 1 & 2, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, Freedom Planet, Mega Man 11, Metroid: Samus Returns, Shantate and the Pirate's Curse, and Shovel Knight. For shmups, the steam ports of DoDonPachi Resurrection, Mushihimesama, and Crimzon Clover have been my jam.

As for future titles that I'm looking forward to, there's Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX, Freedom Planet 2, a possible Mega Man X9, and of course, Streets of Rage 4. So overall, it's been a fantastic time as a fan of 2D games.

I’d also like to give an honourable mention to Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma Extend, a really awesome fighting game.

Ori takes it for me, but also spent a lot of time with speedrunner.

Is Ori classed as a 2D game?

If so, it's easily Ori & the Blind Forest for me.

I'm gonna choose Inside.

The climax or ending or whatever didn't really fulfil people's expectations, but the ride there was incredible.

Celeste or Octopath Traveler.

I think the first one left a bigger impression on me, while the latter is a lot longer.

Hollow Knight.

Cuphead. Or Owlboy.

Castlevania Requiem With Symphony of the NIght nothing beats that game

Sonic Mania or Shovel Knight. Broforce was awesome as well, as was Resogun.

Out of a lack of options, Hotline Miami 2, even though its a worse game than the 1st

Fire Pro Wrestling World. Amazing game. Probably the best game I've played this gen.

So far the best 2D game this gen is Bloodstained: Curse Of The Moon. It's the closest thing to a proper style Castlevania game.

The Messenger came out of nowhere and gave me hours and hours of joy. Funny thing is I never liked the original Ninja Gaiden games this was a tribute to. This was just so much fun and had some of the funniest dialogue I’ve ever heard in a game ever.

It's actually last gen but I didn't play until early this gen. :P

If Octopath Traveler counts, then that. if not, then Sonic Mania.

Salt & Sanctuary by quite a large margin. Only game in recent memory I recall completing 4+ times.

Also my favorite indie game of all time.

Add in dead cells and you have a 3 way tie for me.

Just noticed that Monster Boy and The Cursed Kingdom comes out today and it's getting fantastic scores.

The only 2D game I played in recent years was the Grim Fandango remaster and only because GoG offered it for free.

Sonic Mania

So far I think it's going to be Thimbleweed park.

Golf Story, and I don't even normally like golf games. It was hilarious.
