come to think of it, the select button is completely and utterly useless.  u can just scroll the menus and options with the d-pad.

Sony continues to rectify and innovate.   sony removing it from the dual-shock 4 is brilliant

Now your just splitting hairs for the sake of it. They both serve the same function (or lack thereof).

Everything about this thread is splitting hairs for the sake of it, TC made a thread on a whim and abandoned it.

If this were any sort of meaningful thread TC would have stated PS4 has 'Share' and 'Options' buttons which neither say Select - Xbox One has 'View' and 'Menu' buttons which neither say Select. So the only company that isn't innovating (because somehow the inclusion of a Select button dictates the lack of foresight) is Nintendo.

JangoWuzHere

Also on most NES games the Select button was used to cycle through the menus then you press start to accept that option; You couldn't use the D-Pad on the main menu in a lot of games.

I don't think any controller this gen has a Select button; Nintendo stopped having a select button on the N64 since N64 and GCN controller had just a start button; The Wii Remote and Gamepad just has a - and + buttons instead of Start/Select buttons.
