You want a quick, no bullshit 20 minute game. What fits the bill?

EVE online.

But seriously... Final Fight or any of those Capcom best em ups are great fun.

You could also just play dead cells, 20XX, Rogue Legacy and the like... Each run different, each run lasting appx 30 minutes once you start getting pretty good at it... Rogues are God's candy.

I was mainly talking about games that can be finished under the half-hour mark, but whatever, anything is fine. No bullshit, satisfying 20 minutes,

Binding of Isaac is great. It has excellent replay value since every game is generated differently. There is a cryptic array of items and power-ups that can be combined to mutate your character into some downright bizarre forms. Because items don't get explained yet there's plenty to discover, you never thoroughly know if an item will turn you godlike or curse you into being the scum at the bottom of your shoe. With Binding of Isaac, you will never quite know the outcome with each playthrough and that's why I think it is a great short game.

Kamiko is pretty good, and can probably be completed in 20 or so minutes. My favourite indies though are Celeste, Into the Breach and Enter the Gungeon.

As for non indies which are really fun in short bursts, Out Run, Warioware Gold and Advance Wars.

Right now it's Dead Cells, Salt & Sanctuary, and Apex Legends I guess(I suck at it so games don't last long lol)

Really need to get round to playing Salt & Sanctuary,, it looks more interesting than the other Dark Souls clones. At least they did something original.

Streets of Rage takes a longer commitment than 20 minutes to finish, especially when you're playing on hardest and mania, though it is one of my main go to pick up and play series along with Sonic, Mega Man, and NiGHTS.

DoDonPachi Resurrection, Mushihimesama, along with a few other shmups, are some of the games that I play which probably do take around 20 minutes to complete a single normal run.

Crazy Taxi

20 minutes is pretty much the perfect amount of time for one good game of Crazy Taxi. And it's the type of game that I usually just want to play one quick game of and then put it away.

Only 20 minutes? Quake Live - Clan Arena or Duel.

Single Player, I can't really think of any good games I finished in 20 minutes. Maybe there was something on Master System or Gameboy, but even then it's probably still going to be at least half an hour. I dunno, sorry.

I can't think of any modern 20 minute games, but one from my Atari days I liked a lot was Moon Patrol.

You could get from A to Z in probably 10 minutes or so, basically beating the game on the first difficulty level.

Actually any 1980s Atari game fits this, you can see what the entire game offers in about 5-10 minutes. Much simpler times.

@uninspiredcup: salt and sanctuary is seriously awesome... Just as good as dark souls to me... Hard, unforgiving and gameplay oriented. Really great game.

The only problem is that the really great ones like Kaboom and River Raid had that "just one more try" addicting kind of gameplay. So even though you could see everything that the game offered in a few minutes, it could be very difficult to put the controller down and quit playing because you feel the need to give it "just one more try" and then "just one more try" and then "just one more try" and next thing you know hours have passed.
