Whats next for id Software after Doom Eternal?

Hello friends,

so id software one of the best developer of all time. pioneer of FPS genre and almost equivalent to Valve. since both id and valve revolutionize FPS genre. id software nearly got killed last gen after Rage 1 and Doom 4 they were making. Doom 3 despite was amazing game was hated by many fans but it was commercial and criticall success too.

Enter Doom Reboot. a game that gave new life to id software, it was the game that once again made id software what they were in 90s. and now they are making sequel Doom Eternal which looks absolutely amazing and more crazy than Doom reboot.

so id software wont forever be making Doom. i doubt there will be another Doom after Eternal or what else they show us. mars and earth both.

will they reboot Quake as Quake 1 style SP FPS? but they already made quake champions which is F2P MP only game. or they will make new IP once again?

I would love to see a new Quake reboot!

Doom with a female doom slayer.

a single player one Quake 1 like. because Doom reboot is essentially quake 2 with doomguy and demon. it would be too similar.

id software wont go SJW. not even under the influence of bethesda.

I’m open to them getting experimental, but I hope they take aim at making a PVP-centric game. Invariably I foresee AAA studios adopting GaaS and id Software is no exception.

Hopefully they take a break from Wolfenstein, I'd rather they take some time off to blow us away with their next gen entries. We'll be getting Rage 2 as well so no rush.

That's it. id's claim to fame have always been Doom and Quake. I liked the originals and their sequels. But, without a more varied repertoire, they're uh, doomed to make the same stuff over and over.

neither wolfenstein nor rage 2 is thier game.

one by machinegames with 0 id software assistance. another by avalanche by little bit of assistance by id software b team.

id own em brah.

I wish id software would fine a new publisher that's what I want next from them more then anything F Bethesda.

rage 2 is not even using id tech engine lol

and wolfenstein is exact opposite of Doom.

id is part of Bethesda now brah

id has nothing to do with rage 2 and wolfeinstein.

open world is not something id can no nor id tech engine work on open world.

neither cinematic cutscene driven trash like wolfenstein is something id can do.

A wolfenstein game that plays like this:

Daikatana Ultra. Where John Romero will make you his bitch, twice.

wolfenstein by id software would be wayyyyy better than machinegames.

imagine if id software did new order and colossus. we would have great level design, old school like movement, no cutscenes, no walking in straight line and emphasize on pure badass action.

id software tease release date on facebook. and it seem like might be october 10.

Quake V, with a proper singleplayer like Quake IV had. That game is criminally underrated imo.

I'd also be up for another Enemy Territory: Quake Wars or, alternatively, a "DOOM Wars". The whole vehicle-and-class system (a la Team Fortress, Battlefield) lent itself surprisingly well to the lore of Quake. I mean when you're playing the Quake games you're aware of the lore and the invasions but you're just one guy doing your own thing; it was nice to see the bigger picture.

@xantufrog: Hexen had some extremely complex level design. I used to get lost all the time playing that game.

Something like Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, but a lot more grim, dark, violent. Say what you will about that game, but it had pretty good combat.

anyways not a fan of high fantasy action hack n slash games.

To those saying Hexen, Activision actually owns the IP rights, and you don't want Raven Software to revive the series given their current circumstances.

As for Commander Keen, i dunno if id Software's current team would do it right. I would rather Bethesda hire the creators of Rad Rodgers to do that since well... it's a love letter to the MS-DOS platformers from the creators of Rise of the Triad

Quake 10.

An RTS based on the Doom engine would be nice.
