Here are some notes from the article.

We exclusively revealed that Project Scorpio would be able to provide various visual enhancements, even on 1080p TVs thanks to supersampling. The 4K images powered by Project Scorpio will provide noticeable improvements even without a 4K TV. Now we have a look at some of the ways Microsoft privately demonstrated these capabilities to its partners.

While you will undoubtedly need a 4K set to see the true benefits of Project Scorpio, you will get many enhances textures, geometry, and effects on standard HD displays. These images show enhancements Scorpio can make to existing Xbox One titles by virtue of resolution bumps alone, without any additional tweaking and features that utilize Scorpio's monstrous specs.

Update: Note that these images only represent resolution bumps. When Microsoft demonstrated similar resolution improvements to Forza to Digital Foundry, it left the console with almost 40% of additional GPU overhead for other enhancements. A game running on Scorpio, in theory, will also sport various other artistic and technical improvements, as images further below demonstrate.

That is most definitely a huge improvement. The wait for Scorpio is killer.

So minimal return confirmed and not worth the upgrade unless you have a 4K set. Just like PS4 Pro.

Yeah, I'm fine skipping Scorpio just like I skipped Pro. I'll wait for the next Playstation.

Oh, and I have a really nice 4KTV with HDR in the Vizio P-50. I just don't care about spending an extra $400+ on hardware that Is giving so little back at the moment.

@Telekill: Well this is just to show what this will do for Xbone games...Scorpio has a lot more to offer than just that.

Difference between Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is super obvious, it is like night and day, plain to see with the naked eye. But there is little to no difference between Xbox One and Scorpio.

So..... what? I think we all assumed a higher resolution since they etched '4K' on the damn APU die.

I'd prefer to just see some actual gameplay footage (not an exclusive, something I can test out on my PC and compare with) with confirmed graphics settings and a frame rate counter.

Everything else is just System Wars fodder.

I will be very disappointed in MS if they don't target 60fps as a bare minimum for every single game running on this machine.

Can't wait to see the herd of cows run from the Digital Foundry comparison threads when Scorpio comes out... won't be a cow in sight. LMAO!

I guess you don't know how much different night and day is to make that comparison because the difference was just as marginal for the Xbox and PS4.

@Pedro: Davillian is one of the biggest cows on this site. He'll get proven wrong when the games for Scorpio release.

I think the Beetle picture from the Gamespot article was a better illustration of the differences. These ones not so much. I won't bother too much with these comparison pics or videos, I could barely tell any difference when they did them between PS4-Xbox One, and here the differences appear more pronounced but I still had to look for a few seconds and wonder which one is really the best looking one.

In person I think the differences will be far more apparent depending on the quality of your TV, my jaw dropped when I finally properly calibrated HDR on my 4K TV, something I was not able to foresee in any pics or videos.....but FH3 looks quite better to me on my X1S then it did on my Phat XOne. Of course we will also have other types of graphical improvements with Scorpio, not just resolution.....more effects, better framerates, etc. a lot of things these pics cannot show.

@Pedro: @primorandomguy: I thought the pictures were reversed and the Xbox One was the Scorpio and Scorpio was the lower res one. Seriously, there is no noticeable difference at this time until Scorpio is release is what I was saying and more shock you guys didn't get it :(

The Lady bug pic shows improvements the others are very MEH. The real winner would be frame rate profile where Scorpio could be the only console to offer 60fps vs 30fps mode on others. Otherwise its just going to be same all SW with different script. Cows would argue they cant tell the different between pro 4k mode vs Scorpio Native 4k. Lems would argue the other way around.

Another winner could be texture filtering finally a console with enough memory bandwidth head room to deliver what pc equivalent cards do routinely.

If you open the separate pictures individually you can see the difference more clearly when you magnify:

• the 4K image
• the 1080p image

On 1080p HDTV, SSAA from 4K resolution is just the best AA solution. The face demo is just frame buffer resolution increase.

Scorpio can play Forza 6's wet track with XBO graphics settings at 4K resolution + PC's 4K textures that resulted in 66.5 percent GPU usage.

Ladybug demo has textures asset quality increase.

Why 60 hz? Scorpio supports Freesync 2 and HDMI 2.1 VRR.

That's just the Resolution bump.

That's not showing the MSAA X 16. the 4K textures AND improved Frame Rates WE All Know Scorpio can Handle.......

Getting very hyped for this system, can't wait to pick one up when it launches. Going to be fun trying out all of my Xbox One games on this thing.

Big difference because the original version from the X1 is this ugly. Of course something will look impressive when compared to ugliness.

Considering my posting history I'm probably one of the less cow-esq posters on these forums that prefer Playstation. I see value in all the platforms but I'm not going to support them all.
