What were the last 3 JRPG's you beat?

Mine were Xenoblade Chronicles X, Persona 5, and Final Fantasy 15. It hasn't been that bad of a gen for JRPG players. I wouldn't say it's as good as PS1/PS2 era, though. What about you, SW? What were the last 3 JRPG's you beat? Which ones do you want to play? I haven't had a chance to get Ni No Kuni 2, Octopath Traveler, or Dragon Quest 11, but I hear they're good.

I'm literally the worst for beating JRPG's. I play a fair amount, then get sidetracked with other things, and then go long enough that I end up starting again. On that note, I can't remember.

The last three JRPGs that I beat were:

- Octopath Traveler

- Xenoblade Chronicles 2

- Lost Odyssey

I finished Lost Odyssey years ago before but I recently replayed it.

• Valkyria Chronicles
• Persona 5 (X3)

Since Persona 5, I've started P3 FES and P4G, but I keep putting them down for other stuff. I am currently playing Valkyria Chronicles 4 though, and that I will beat.

I played a lot of jrpg and recent ones like xenoblade 2, octopath, pokemon ultra moon but never finished one. Never grabbed me to the end. Currently playing DQXI and its amazing. Fuk monster hunter world festival ruining my gaming schedule though

- Octopath Traveller (well, besides the awful hidden final boss)

- Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux

I'm currently playing Valkyria Chronicles 4, then I might move on to Labyrinth of Refrain.

- Dark souls 3

- Xenoblade 2

- Pokemon Ultra Moon

Octopath, Dragon warrior 3, Persona 5 probably.

Currently 70 hours into DQXI though, so thatll be soon.

Christ, I can’t remember. I’ve only beaten a few total in my life. I’ve played a crapload but I usually get bored near the end and stop playing.

Shit, 70? I'm rolling 13, and i'm loving it. Given time, it might be one I 100%, like FF7 back in the day.

I'm currently playing Octopath Traveler and Tales of Berseria

Last I beat (and plated) was Kingdom hearts on Ps4. I played Undertale until I got the plat and left it because I hated it. I finished and plated the Secret of Mana Remake back in March.

Persona 5, Valkyria Chronicles and Ys 7. Have started and dropped several like tales of berseria, ni no kuni 2, ff xv. Most likely giving Octopath a go next.

And i agree with above, why dismiss an entire genre? Almost no two JRPGs are alike. Play a Dragon Quest game, then give Persona 5 a shot.

Umm lol. I beat Tales on Symphonia on GC when it was current. Other than that, I'm not sure I've beat any other JRPG. Don't think so.. I've started quite a few, but they always become a drag.

@drrollinstein: Yup, I was. My OG Xbox collection alone (almost complete) beats that lol. Not to mention my Atari 7800, Vectrex, Intellivision, SNES, GB, VB, Saturn, N-Gage, GBA, GC, Xbox One. And that doesn’t even include other consoles I own but don’t actively collect for (PS3, 360, PSP, DS, Wii, WiiU).

Believe it or not, anime has always been a turn off for me and I think that’s a big part of jrpgs - hence why they don’t interest me.

@Planeforger - *see above. As for genres, mostly everything but I exclude JRPGs, RPGs, Sports, RTS, and story/dialogue/QTE heavy games.

Alright but, have you ever tried JRPGs? Or RPGs? Because RPGs is a pretty large genre.

I’ve tried three JRPGs, Earthbound, a demo for some Final Fantasy game on the ps2, and Blue Dragon for the 360. They weren’t too anime focused so I could live with the art style. I was bored with each of them for the same reason. Random turn based battles over and over again. I’d take three steps and be thrust into the same enemies repeatedly till it got nauseating.

Funny enough, Blue dragon inspired an anime and was literally drawn by the most well known anime artist of all time, Akira Toriyama(Dragon Ball Z).

Like half of all JRPGs use visible enemies you can avoid at will instead of the random enemy system. Play Persona 5. Trust me.

@drrollinstein: Naw, my time is better spent doing things I like - ya dig? Besides, isn’t Presona a playstation or Switch series? I haven’t even bothered with those systems this gen. They hold little interest to me.

Alrighttttt but you're really cutting yourself off from a large portion of gaming you havent really tried.

As I mentioned, I’ve tried jrpgs from three different developers and generations. None interest me.
