I recently beat Nier Replicant. Achieved all endings except for D (just YouTube'd it lol). Honest opinion - 6/10. If it wasn't for the repetition - 8/10. Loved the story and characters, but compared to Nier Automata, combat wasn't as satisfying, common enemies lacked variety, and the amount of grinding that needs to be done to complete missions and achieve the endings is awful lol. Nier Automata did it better. As for positives - boss fights were interesting, writing was great, and the lore establishes the link between Replicant and Automata (especially with ending E). Nonetheless, I love this game, but the flaws impacted my score greatly.

How about you, SW? What was the last game you beat and what you would rate it?

Vanishing of Ethan Carter VR. I'd give it a 7

Pros: story was pretty good, and it did a good job making you part of it via the detective work

Visuals were pretty good

Setting was a good mix of creepy but just-normal-enough-to-feel-like-someplace-you've-been-before

Pretty good fit for VR

Cons: VR implementation was janky - it was clear it was an add on and supported by a small crew.

Although it felt "bigger" it was still a wee bit too short

Allowing for multiple endings or conclusions about what happened would have been a lot more work but kicked the game up to a whole other level

Last games I beat were Left4Dead 1&2, before that, Silent Hill 2&3. I recommend them all. Had fun and enjoyed playing through them.

ME Legendary Edition

I give it a 9/10 because the games are still amazing and the QoL improvements for ME1 are great. I put a little over 100 hours into these versions and definitely got my money’s worth of enjoyment.

I don't know which game I most recently beat. Weird. Probably because I've played lots of shit you don't "beat" lately.

Could maybe have been Monster Hunter Rise? If doing all quests is considered beating it.

I beat Saint's Row The Third Remaster which was pretty fun.

The best part was creating your own ugly as sin character and acting like a jerk to everyone. Everyone's cool with that though as you are a Saint.

The remaster was also really good. They added HDR support and some new textures. Enough to bring it that new lick of paint.

Bring on Saint's Row IV remaster in the same style.

Last played: currently running Steel Path in Warframe. Not gonna rate it. It's less of a game and more of a series of mad science experiments stapled together, and a game I play over podcasts and YouTube videos.

Last played before that: Total War: Warhammer II. 9/10. Yeah, it's DLC heavy, but still a bargain compared to the tabletop.

Last completed: Doom Eternal. 7/10. Mentioned this before. Improved on Doom 2016 in various ways, but unfortunately they did it through addition. Some of them worked, while others didn't, so they kind of cancelled each other out.

Last completed that I didn't mention before: Doom 2016. Phew, only took me 5 years. 7/10, though I agonised over this a lot, because as I marched through the later part of the game, the number that kept popping in my head was "7.5," which was awkward because I only rate by whole numbers. In the end, I settled on 7/10, but it's actually more like 7.4 rounded down.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

7/10

A good Castlevania imitation that’s a little too akin to its inspiration with some spotty patches of design.

Mass Effect 1 legendary edition....

10/10... Easy. Gaming's best story and characters mixed with that gummy gun play that I've played so much of it feels perfect at this point. Lol.

I believe it was my 8th full playthrough of ME.

Wonderboy in Monster World (6/10), really fun Sega Genesis game that I played on the Genesis Collection (ps4), a little confusing with what to do next (think Castlevania 2) bit overall I enjoyed it. But the Sega master system Wonderboy The Dragons Trap (9/10) is just a lot better overall, and it's remake a few years ago was heavenly bliss!!!

Returnal I got the platinum trophy last week. I would give it 8/10. It would of better if it was a bit longer with a extra act.

Returnal - 9/10

RE8 - 5/10

Returnal surprised me with it's tight gameplay and cryptic setting and story. RE8 is only saved by it's technical features. It's a mess in every other respect.

It Takes Two is the last game I actually finished... probably rate it a 8.5 out of 10. great co-op game with some weird tonal inconsistencies and one really annoying character.

last game I put significant time into was Chivalry 2. Had a lot of fun with it initially but they kinda fucked it up by releasing it in a unfinished state and haven't released a single damn update to fix even basic issues like bugs with getting into a party with friends, and exploits that let people abuse some of the mechanics.

I think i'd give it a 7/10 but it could easily be higher if they actually patch the damn game. combat is incredibly fun but man they have really fucked it up by launching before it was ready and not being able to even put out a damn hotfix. Really unfortunate since the core of the game is great and it could have been a MP staple for me and my friends under other circumstances.

Subnautica beat on gamepass xbox. Without the bugs 10/10. Because of bugs 2/10. The bugs ruined a 50 hour save file, it literally caused the game to fell apart into blocks, actual mine craft blocks near the end stage, but because I enjoyed the game so much I started again from scratch and beat it. I'm a patient guy by nature but if I wasn't it would have driven me insane.

I went on to play subnautica below zero, the sequel. The developers seemed to have learned from their mistakes, and shrunk the expansive game world significantly and tightened things up to get control of the bugs. It worked..the difference is night and ducking day. I barely experienced a single bug while playing the game.

Funny enough, because of the measures they took, it made the game not as fun as the og.

Nier Replicant. Probably a 6/10. I do enjoy the music and the combat a little bit, but the story and characters are so anime-like and I hate most anime. And I know, I should've known that going in but I wanted to see what all the fuss was about months ago.

I think I will wait a year or so to get the rest of the endings. I honestly don't care right now to go back and play through all that shit again.

I finished Yakuza 6 on Monday. The storyline kinda sucked, but the gameplay made up for it. I give it a 7.5/10. Yakuza 0 remains my favourite out of the Yakuza franchise.

@blaznwiipspman1: Got my roommate to play the free version on PS5 and it was rife with bugs as well. He still enjoyed it, just sucks that he had to put up with a bunch of crap that I didn't on PC. Great game.

Just Cause 4 this weekend. Thought it was a lot of fun actually. Sure, a bit repetetive and story was beyond terrible. But the mechanics were solid. Needed this kind of mindless action game.

One very good design decision was to make the game easy with generous checkpoints given how broken it could sometimes feel. That removed a lot of the frustration and allowed you to just have a bit of fun playing around with the physics.

Solid 7/10 😁! Recommend!

It Takes Two. Id rate it 8/10. It has a cheesy story and some cringe voice acting but it is a really well thought out game and id say its one of the best two player COOP games iv played.

The only bad things are that its an EA game and I feel bad about paying them for it and even when playing coop online you still have to play it in split screen. Also the game really misses out by not having ray tracing, its a nice looking game already but it could have been gorgeous with RT.

The good thing is you only have to buy the game once to play it with friends online as the game offers a friend pass where they essentially download the entire game through Origin or Steam and can play whenever you invite them, or you can just use Steams Remote play together feature but id recommend the friend pass as you wont be streaming your game.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Excellent combat, probably the best in any ARPG. Pretty good crafting system and a beautiful world to explore too. Held back a bit by repetitive dungeons and flat presentation of the lore, but overall I'd give it a solid 8.

Mainly been playing Underrail the last week or two.

It's uncompromisingly old school to a fault.

On the plus side, it has a ton of depth, doesn't hold the players with quest markers or obvious linear paths. It has a high difficulty requiring pre-planning both in immediate combat and character building. The difficulty is consistent from start to end with no steam rolling with inevitably makes an RPG boring and pointless.

Its double-edged sword is that it can feel obtuse for the sake of it. It's possible to have a "bad" character build where the game punishes experimentation. It has a needlessly complicated crafting system that is primarily about punishing the player with tier walls than rewarding or encouraging experiment. Its obtuse extends to vendors where vital components (such as metal) effectively make all the points the player poured into crafting moot until mid/late game. And even then, it's just a pain in the ass to get materials.

Fall all its titty twisting the game is dope. Take it over whatever Bioware or Bethesda will be shitting out.

Maneater and would give it 7 out of 10. Just easy mindless fun game, missions were repetitive but game wasn't long so didn't feel like a chore.

Would love to see them tackle another animal, Bear , Lion, Snake, etc..

I’m looking forward to the sequel now.
