Hey, I went with the reason being closing down Lionhead studios. Maybe it doesn't do a bad thing as often as the DLC stuff might do, Fable and Lionhead on Xbox pretty much sold well. To keep on topic here, I think the core analyzing Microsoft does on its console does something well for games in general.

One thing, potentially about Xbox game consoles that makes sense to me is who's marketing the games remains as someone new. Closing Lionhead probably won't be huge, but that extra familiarity along with the console can be an excellent resource while new consoles are coming out.

Having a pathological liar running their brand who spends more time slurping Sony and Nintendo than making sure his own studios can hit deadlines.

Cancelling Scalebound was the final nail in the coffin for the mighty Xbox One.

I think they never fully recovered from the negative backlash of the E3 reveal of the XB1. Also they coasted for most of the second half of the 360's life span on Halo, Gears and Forza.... where as Sony did a good job of supporting the PS3 til PS4's launch, now Halo and Gears don't hold the same weight they once did.

Also alot of their big games have been flops or gotten off to rough starts ( cough Master Chief collection)

And the new offerings this gen have been really average at best, Like Sea of Thieves, I mean I understand Sea of Thieves is a better game now, but first impressions are everything, and being bad at launch can damage the game immensely. Which is probably why MS delayed Halo Infinite.

Honestly I really started appreciating Microsoft a lot more this gen. Once you grow up a lil and stop worrying about brand hardware sales... you realize they have a lot to offer gamers across the spectrum. Bringing their games and service to most platforms is a pro consumer move and really should be celebrated. Hopefully Nintendo and Sony will follow suit or offer something similar.

Crackdown 3 and...Battletoads

They have done good things clearing up the mess after launch and put themselves in a better position but we won't see the effects with games for at least 2 years. They will always be behind the black ball until the 1st party produce bangers.

Oh absolutely. Same here, How to Train your Dragon, was what had me pumped and on paper ScaleBound sounded awesome but like I said, every showing the game looked to be circling the drain and it was best for MS just to pull the plug.

My understanding is MS owns the Scalebound IP so maybe one of their new devs may get a shot at making the game.
