I know I just made a thread a minute ago, but this instantly crossed my mind:

I have every single Mario Party game, except for the GameBoy Advance one. That's right; Mario Party 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and DS. All of that for the full price at retail. I've spent around 455-465 dollars (counting tax) on Mario Party games alone, so I guess you could consider me a fan. :P

Anyway, we used to get one annually, but there was a one and a half year gap between 7 and 8! We got one every year from 1999, but then 2006 was missing one. May 2007 was the last Mario Party game we got, which was a long time back. I would love to see what they could do with Wii Motion Plus. The eighth entry was another insignificant entry that wasn't too big of a change. It certainly was no Resident Evil 3 to Resident Evil 4. But I have faith that this one can give us a good time if they make better mini games, add more mini games, and most importantly, make the board games less boring. Get rid of the crappy random events, and have the remaining ones take less time.

I remember whenever someone would make a thread of what series need to die off, people would always throw out "Mario Party!" Now it's just Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, Madden, and such. :(

I think there will be an announcement at E3 of Mario Party 9. What do you guys think?

Mario Party is garbage now IMO, though I can see a Mario Party 9 happening.

i think the series had potential, but they haven't really changed anything (except the addition of the orb things) since the n64 games

i've always found the mario parties to be fun games, but hell they need to change the game up

No more please. The more they made, the more it died. The earliest ones were the best.

ive played all of the mario partys, minus the handheld ones... mario party got better up until 5, then went down with 6-7, and then started to go up again with 8(but wasn't as good as 5).

Not a very good excuse. "Mario Party Wii"? Infact, you'd think a Mario Party game + Wii Minigame Game would see like super hotcakes.

8 is way more than enough Mario Party... seek out other party games- i'm sure you'll find some.

Because it got rehashed way too much it gets way underrated. I wish they thought of it more of a sports game. Because the games are/and always will be a blast to play.

I don't think they necesarrily got worse; they just didn't get any better. They stayed stagnant from 1 all the way to 8, with only minor changes to the formula.

Who cares about the past games, judge the last game of the series on its own merit. Mario Party on the Wii was a great game...great motion controls, the boards were original and engaging (I really liked the train). All they need to do to make this game a top seller is add online. Im sure a new Mario Party will come out and ill be excited.

Personally, I think Mario Party was always bad. I fail to see any big difference between the Mario Party series and Sonic Shuffle (Mario Party is better, but not by much), which I thought was pretty terrible. I think the board game structure can make any game boring even if there are some decent mini-games present.

they made to many of them so they don't have anymore ideas for the game. all of the ideas were lost because of how many came out. kind of like tony hawk game, they stopped making it because all of the ideas of the game were already done. developers need to learn not to milk a series as soon enough they will run out of ideas. the only series that could keep on getting made is madden/ sport games. all they do is update the rosters of the team.

If they announce one and it has online play with Wii Speak, I'm definitely going to get it. I think it's dead, though.

The difference is that Hudson Soft made the Mario Party series, so I really fail to see why some series that isn't at all related to them would stop them. Yeah, I realize they both have Mario, but that means nothing, considering the developement teams are completely different.

I think a better question is "What happened to Donkey Kong?!" Seriously, Donkey Kong went downhill after Donkey Kong 64. Donkey Konga (Gamecube) was alright, but the Donkey Kong Wii game was pretty bad. Atleast the Mario Party games are fun and very consistent with each other in terms of gameplay.

A series that isn't at all related? Huh? They're both mini-game compilations Nintendo makes money off of. Why have two mini-game compilations fighting each other? Much more likely Nintendo put Mario Party on hold and let Hudson work on something else, like their many WiiWare projects. It's not like Mario Party 9 would be vastly different than Mario Party 8 had it come out already anyways.

I meant in the sense that they are made by different companies. I didn't understand why Hudson Soft wasn't working on them, but I guess I know why now. Not that I really think Hudson Soft is any good to begin with. I really haven't heard of any of their recent titles... except for Bomberman, of course.
