What's the most overrated game of 2014?

I'm going with Titanfall. Great gameplay, but $60 for a multiplayer only game + the AI bots dock it some serious points. What about you, SW? What's the most overrated game of this year?

Titanfall for me too. The amount of hype that game got before release was ridiculous. I think I played about 10 games during the beta on PC and found it quite boring and couldnt be bothered to play it again.

Isn't the game better for not having a partially conceived single player? I think so. Titanfall does what it does well.

How can anything be overrated here? Every game released this year has been shit on by the gaming community. Gamers, especially system wars activists are a fucking cancer to this industry.

Agreed. Looking at COD and the % of buyers that just get home and get online, why should a game lose points for no SP? We don't dock a SP only game for no MP. Titanfall and Sunset Overdrive have been my most fun buys this year.

Overrated? Without a doubt Watchdogs. There was nothing about it to keep me playing past 4 hours.

Wiht 86 on MC, i'd say Titanfall. It was good, but more around 80, give or take a point.

Destiny got ripped surprisngly

I absolutely agree with Watch_Dogs. The game wastes potential at nearly every turn.

Titanflop. This game had as much content as a 4.99 DLC to an Indie title and graphics from an already blow average looking title released in 2006. A joke of a game that deserves zero attention.

Donkey Kong Country, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2... I find most Wii U games vastly overrated. Especially in SW (don't see this level of praise on other forums).

me n you we have very different definition of butthurt. You kept telling me im butthurt for a certain game because i couldn't play it on the Bone when i have a pc and if i gave a flying crap i'd get it day one. Titanfall isn't even a game but a $10 dlc to call of duty, no wonder its sold for like $10 on pc nowdays, no1's buying that garbage.

Titanfall doesn't really interest me, but the cow attempt to make it into a flop when it clearly didn't is incredibly lame.

I didn't realize Titanfall was overrated in terms of scores. I assumed everyone thought it was mediocre.

Destiny or GTA5. Yet again, GTA has always been overrated, so it goes to Destiny.

How is Destiny overrated when its poorly rated and most everyone who played the game came out extremely disappointed? Disappointing? Yes, nothing came close to Destiny's failure. Overrated? No.

Bayo 2 is definitely getting overblown because it's SW and a AAAAE on GS = top dog in the metagame. Those other games? Seems about the same everywhere else. As a matter of fact, Mario Kart 8 has been kind of hush around here compared to other forums.

That said, I usually have to actually play a game before coming to the conclusion that it's over/under-rated... and somehow I doubt you played any of those.

Coverage wise: Destiny. The fact this game was shit was irrelevant. Gamespot (as an entity) was more interested in advertizing it.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see quite clearly; some seedy shit has been happening behind the scenes.

Don't doubt, some of my friends are hardcore sheep. Seriously, they put System Warriors to shame and, believe it or not, they don't do it for the trolling. They actually mean it.

Nah, jk. So what are you saying though, you sheep it up hardcore on the low when nobodies watching? lol. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised. I've spent years here giving cows hell even though Playstation consoles are my favorite and (usually) make up a significant chunk of my game time.

Yeah, I get that man. Though it's not all bad. Nintendo games aren't for everyone and it is easy to get burned out. Between the end of the N64 to about half way through the Wii, I just couldn't get into Nintendo stuff the way I used to. Needed break. But hey, even if the games aren't for you, at least you're not playing shit games. I mean really, sometimes have to put up with some straight garbage when hanging out with the gamer buddies.

And yeah I'm not big on Smash either, but luckily for me, that's just a game to play with the family.

And yet its sales numbers were good, business wise. You're butthurt because you're still calling it a flop when it scored a 9/10 and met its hype. Here we are approaching December and that game made you burn, and then you said Sunset Overdrive was going to be boring repetitive trash, and reviews would back you up. Yet it is received as a great, chaotic fun game to have a great time with. The main thing we have different definitions on is fun. Because based on your posts it doesn't sound like you allow yourself to have much in this hobby.

There wasn't anything that I feel gets way more credit than it has any business getting. I don't give enough of a shit for review scores/metascores to be hot n bothered by "omg that game got a 10?". Like maybe MCC and Watchdogs have metascores that are like lolno, but they both get blasted plenty at this point.

What's your take on it? Haven't played it so I'm curious.

And I come to SW for fun so I have to give these guys shit no matter what my gaming preferences may be.

I didn't like the nemesis system since it's just a random enemy generator and the orcs follow me around and show up at the most annoying moments. This is the feature that everyone touts when the game is mentioned and I just didn't care for it. It wouldn't be a problem except the rest of the game is just as underwhelming as the nemesis system, particularly the main missions and the location design. It's not a "bad" game it's just so run of the mill and average that I can't help but want to play something else.

The Last of Us Remaster

Many game this year have been heavily advertized and sold as so awesome and when we got the game ... everyone where disapointed ... which is the case of Titanfall, Watch Dog, Destiny.

Other games were a huge disapointement to me but whatever

Anyway, from the games i've played, Dark Souls 2...yep, i said it, now, don't get me wrong, is not a bad game by any means but is just more Dark Souls and while that's not bad, i just couldn't get hooked like i was with the first game.
