What's the best game of 2014 so far?

I'm going to go with Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze. A really well polished game with great graphics, level design, and gameplay. The platforming is fun and I also enjoy some of the more challenging parts. Don't know what GS was complaining about! And one great benefit of being a Wii U owner is that I have the option of playing on the Gamepad or the TV. How about you, SW?

Child of Light. Game is beautiful in every way. It's the only game that has really captured my attention so far this year.

The only games i actually played this year was Tropical Freeze, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare and Child of Light. Enjoyed all 3

As far as actual industry GOTY, its hard to say, we havent seen a game that pushed the industry into new bounds yet, maybe after E3.

nothing really that great so far. i think one of the big hitters in fall will win goty. if uncharted releases it will win

This year's sucked so far. Dark Souls 2 is the only game that was even decent. Regardless, I'm going to have to go with Hearthstone. I have way too many hours invested in that.

You mean the game that only scored 80 on Metacritic, has only been mentioned by one person on this thread, and is only talked about at all because it's one of the best looking console games?

but you can spray graphitti on walls .... and do the same 5 missions for 10 hours..... and fight a total enemy variety of about 5....

The only games from this year I've played are Bravely Default and Dark Souls II. I'd say they're about equally good in very different ways.

Have to say it's hard to choose between

• MGSV GZ (makes me want TPP to come out even faster)
• Dark Souls 2
• Diablo 3 RoS

I haven't played Child of Light yet but I'd imagine that would be a huge contender for it as well.

For me it was Broken Sword 5 . Really enjoyed it . That'll change soon with the release of Watch Dogs for sure . Haven't played Child of Light yet .

I'll let you know when the game is released. So far 2014 has been a little boring.

Child of Light and Dark Souls 2. Everything else this year has been rather disappointing, but we still have 7 months or so to go.

Multiplayer: BF4 - it's brought me back consistently regardless of what's come out, well, whilst it's been working anyway.

I thought that was 2013, no? Or was that 3D World. Anyways the best games released are all nintendo games as of late. Donkey Kong, Mario, and the recently released Mario Golf--of which is just fantastic.

Yeah, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is a masterpiece of a platformer. It's truly exceptional in every regard. It's treading in pinnacle-of-a-genre territory right now.

Dark Souls 2 on the PC, for me.

Haven't found much to play recently, so i might have to say Age of Wonders 3.
