lately all people keep hyping are the visuals of next gens games and fair enough, it's a new gen with new hardware and it's nice to see and upgrade and not be suffocated by the shit hardware in the PS3 and 360 anymore. But that is literally ALL that is being hyped.

So gameplay wise what's the best looking next gen game? I mean all the games I've seen so far aren't really doing anything amazing or new gameplay wise compared to this gen

You really don't realize that was a smart ass commnet? Come on, sean lol.

And honestly, haven't seen anything special. I like the OWL, but I can't recall anything else new or interesting.

Titanfall. I love the speed and agility of the pilots and being able to hop in a giant mech and go to to toe with other mechs. It looks like a blast and something different from the other standard multiplayer military shooters.

It's still just "more of the same" though as this gen. There's not much "next gen" in them other than graphics

Honestly, Nothing really groundbreaking gameplay wise is coming out, the only thing I really want to play is Killzone, That OWL thing could add some interesting gameplay with the zipline, I also like how the environment seems much more open.

Well your original question was (before you changed the topic into what it is now) "what next-gen game would have the best gameplay".
Anyway what defines next-gen according to you in terms of gameplay?

To me this is next-gen gameplay:

Are you asking Which games used the next gen processing power to improve gameplay just as much as they improve graphics ?

Well thats easy ! None ! You won't be seeing any next gen, non gimmicky gameplay advancements until 3 years after launch. Let the fanboys argue about "the graphics king", the real gamer's time will come soon enough.

I'm hoping for quantum break bringing something new. It's freeze time / explosions / particles theme thing is nice, i just want it to work well in gameplay.

and remember Remedy did popularize bullet time for a few years

Define "next gen gameplay", unless there's a new control method or a new genre introduced, nextgen gameplay doesn't exist. To be categorized into a genre, a game must have core gameplay similar to that of other games within that genre; therefore, similarity is inevitable.

Unless you include games designed for the Oculus Rift and VR experience then the only game offering truly next gen gameplay is Star CItizen, for the first time in a space combat game we will be able to board other ships and stations, discover planets, systems and alien races in a massive persistent universe and boldly go where no man has gone before. With Oculus Rift too if you want to, cant wait.

Quite frankly, the most advanced looking games in gameplay (perhaps it's more in the world building aspect that I'm thinking of) are cross gen games like Assassin's Creed 4 and Watch Dogs... So I guess there's nothing yet... Just prettier graphics...

X Rebirth and Star Citizen

for being next gen space sims

Witcher 3

because it´s CD Project that always pushes visuals and gameplay

AC4 Blackflag for PC will look next gext gen

Dying Light

judging by the first impressions

Hellraid

Looks kinda cool melee slasher

Tom Clancy's The Division

for being an MMO FPS with the best graphics to date

The Evil Within

Will be the best looking horror game next year

Outlast is kinda a next gen indie

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Dragon Age: Inquisition if Bioware doesn´t screw up again

There's nothing really out there (yet) and it's honestly kinda hard at this point to introduce a completely revolutionary gameplay experience.

The closest I'd say is Star Citizen followed by Titanfall. Star Citizen has an insanely vast scope and Titalfall is definitely changing things up in the multiplayer shooter space.

I'd like to think that Quantum Break will bring something new to the table as well as it's premise sounds really unique but we have yet to see any concrete gameplay.

Next gen gameplay, Ummm good question. Any game that takes advantage of controller, camera and nail a second screen experience. Honesty thats dead rising 3 atm. Kinect is going detect light/ dark and sounds in your room and implant it in game. Then smart glass you can call in aerial attacks and accept phone calls ect. To me that sounds pretty cool even if you don't like zombies or game style

Seems there's none mechanically. Just expansions and extra features and tweaks for different IPs that were already existing on older IPs.

IMO, the VITA could've done "next gen console control scheme" because of the multi-touch capacitive screen by not dumbing down games that are supposed to have plenty of skills and items instantly accessible. Too bad the system bombed and are missing a set of buttons.. so no one seems to be daring with its inputs.

Backpad could've been used more creatively as well but should still be optional.

The consumer Oculus Rift + Kinect 2 for PC is going to be the closest thing to a holodeck yet. Since it's bundled with the XB1, maybe a decent amount of multiplats will use it. The Elder Scrolls would be pretty epic using a real sword and shield...

Titanfall looks next-gen in terms of gameplay. I understand it's also going to release on Xbox 360, but the game looks so exciting to play.

The Division has a lot of promise as well from what I saw in the trailers.

The Witcher 3 is my ultimate for next-gen. I'm eager to tear into the open-world, and CD Projekt are aiming to tie it all in with a very narrative heavy game so I'm excited to see how they accomplish that.

i have a feeling titanfall for 360 is going get canned. They haven't talked about it for a while OR showed it.

...aaaaand the beginning of last gen was full of amazing original "next gen" experiences? PUH-LEASE. it was the same shit, so get over yourself and make some more sense. k?

it had shinier, more plastic looking (condemned) graphics and that was it. you're sounding like a pretentious teenager right now.

that term is ill-defined, gameplay throughout generations just evolves naturally according to a bunch of different things, like certain hardware constraints being lifted which leads to developers doing new stuff because of it. We'll hardly see that kind of stuff even yearly, and likely not in the launch titles.

Pretty much only PC games.

The PS4/X1 have only the slightest of leaps over the current gen consoles.

I believe next-gen will begin when Virtual Reality gaming becomes popular. Oculus Rift is going to be available on PCs soon, and Sony has been rumored to be developing a cheaper VR headset for the PS4 at some point.

next gen gameplay? gameplay doesn't have gens. it's still the same kind of controller, so there are some occasional odd-balls that still try to innovate with the ancient gamepad, but no gens here.

UNLESS the console has all new controller, like in the case of Wii. then i think you could call the gameplay next gen, if it's completely made for the new controller.

terminology aside, i know what you mean. from what i've seen, Watch Dogs seems to be the most interesting yet.

'Next-gen Gameplay' is a such a nebulous term it is practically meaningless. We get the same gameplay, just more refined and nuanced.

There's really no answer to this question, as we don't have any definitions of a "next gen" gameplay.

There can never be a radical gameplay mechanic that would resonate with consumers at this point, we have reached 3D from 2D and the possibilities of what can be achieved has been done already, except we jump to 4D whatever that is. Even you yourself Jack cannot like radical gameplay methods (Beyond Two Souls) as there is threshold of what gamers expect to be in a game these days, heck compare what games looked like when we left 2D to 3D to what the next generation games are offering so far; same old shooters, adventure games, racers etc. Also i remember you complaining about the touchpad on the PS4 controller despite that being openning new possibilities for games, so you see, even you do not really want next gen gameplay

Killzone and Infamous. I bet The Order: 1886 would have "next gen gameplay". Speaking of that, what is next gen Gameplay? Can PC do this next gen gameplay or are they waiting for big console developers to innovate so they can imitate?

the problem with these new controllers (motion controls mainly) is that they are not improving the old controls. they are just gimmicks. Steam pad on the other hand looks like an actual improvement when it comes to gamepads, although i swear in the name of mechanical controls, so i think they should've used 2 trackballs instead.

sure, Sony has trackpad in their new controller too, but it's too oddly placed to make full use of it. i wonder how devs are going to use it.

Except a game doesn't have to neatly fit into any genre, and even if it did that doesn't mean it couldn't provide a refreshingly new experience.

Anything involving the Oculus Rift or Sifteo Cubes.

Those things I think are true innovation for Gaming.
