My current monitor is an ultra wide DELL u3415W that has 1440p and 21:9 display. I love when games utilize ultra wide aspect ratio. They look great. Especially open world type games like Red Dead Redemption 2, or even racing games like Forza Horizon 4. Anyway, I got this baby 5 years ago for a pretty good deal. I'm surprised it still holds its value today.

As for TV, my main gaming TV is Sony KDL40W600B. It's a 40 inch, 1080p 60hz TV. Have had it for 6 years now. Will definitely be keeping this even when I get a 4K TV. It will be useful for older games.

So that is my gaming monitor and TV. How about you, SW? What monitor/TV do you use for gaming?

This is a thing

no use crying about a small gap between systems if your gaming on a cheap £250 tv with shitty hdr, colour gamut and 50hz

I’m not an OLED owner(very bright room means Qled was better for me) but having a cheaper tv before my Samsung I can an confirm there is a big difference

I use a monitor for both consoles and my PC. It is the LG 43UD79. A solid 4K monitor but nothing outstanding about it. Colours look nice. its fairly responsive but not amazing. its definitely a monitor i would recommend using for a more TV type setup though as there is a bit of a gap between the backlight and panel. its fine when looking at the screen from a distance but if your face was very close and you looked across it would be very noticeable.

anyway it was kinda foisted on me in a way though. i had a 1080P 47" TV (LG crimson series model) which was going on 10 years old. I was holding out for the Asus ROG Strix XG438Q. That pretty much ticked all the boxes i wanted in a new screen. but the the old TV blew up (really...it was an impressive bang when i plugged it in).

i didn't want to get something cheap to tide me over as it would be just a waste. i also didn't know when that ASUS monitor would actually be available (turned out i would have been waiting about 7 months). So i had to bite the bullet and get something and i got the above LG monitor.

Ultrawide Alienware monitor, I rate it a 10/10

Also there is this 40 inch 1080p Samsung TV I have right now

I gotta say I'm very happy with the TV. It has great color reproduction and feels very snappy.

I was going to buy a 48 inch OLED which they introduced at CES this january, but not sure if that is still possible with the current situation.

I have a 60 inch 4k TV hooked to my PS4 Pro and Switch (not that the switch will play 4k, lol)

And have a decent gaming laptop for my strategy/simulation game fixes. 15' inch monitor.

I don't know what brand or how big my TV is. Never really gave it much thought. It was big and in my price range is all I remember. I just turn it on and play games.

I got the AW3418dw

It was a big step up from the two previous LG ultrawides I owned (which I still use to this day, one for work, the other for creating music)

- It's slightly curved, which is nice
- It features G-sync
- It supports up to 120fps
- has a 3440x1440 resolution

@BassMan owns the exact same monitor :P

I played Witcher 3 a while back. I think my computer was able to get 40fps on like high settings. I have a GTX 980ti. I don't plan on upgrading right away since the new consoles will be beasts!

I've owned IPS monitors all my life, so I can't really say. I will say though that the Alienware monitor is my favourite monitor I have ever owned. If you want an ultrawide at high refresh rate, this is the best one to get (the others are a lot thinner, and tend to get a lot hotter). The Alienware stays perfect in every situation.

It's even perfect to watch a lot of 21:9 movie and TV content on.

Heh, I think a GTX980ti should be able to get more than that.

But anyway, are you getting any of the new consoles at launch? PS5? Xbox?

I may be getting a PS5, but it depends on a few more questions I have. One is about backwards compatibility. And the other is about launch games.

I game all over my house, but the main spots are

85” Sony 900f - 4K HDR

55” Sony 900e - 4K HDR

55” Sony 930e - 4K HDR

27” Asus MG278q - 1440p 144hz gsync compatible

I also have a 65” 4K LG in the Living room, 70” Sharp 1080p in my bedroom and a 65” 1080p Samsung in the workout/retro console room that get gamed on from time to time.

Can't even remember specifics.

TV is some 55" 4k Samsung I bought in 2016. Probably get eaten alive by a proper TV snob, but looks great to me lol. It's mostly for watching and not gaming though.

Current desktop setup is dual monitor. A lot of my favorite games are action games that either benefit from precision, or all out demand it. So most of my gaming is on a BenQ TN panel. 144hz, crazy low display lag, fast response times. Not the best picture quality tho.

Other monitor is some old Samsung. Looks pretty enough, but doesn't hack it for faster games. Last game I played on it was REmake2.

Feeling overdue for monitor upgrades though. Will probably coincide with my next gpu upgrade.

Hmm.. it was struggling for me. That was with 21:9 and 1440p on high. But I didn't really play around with settings too much.

Heh, I'm of the exact opposite opinion. I think not enough people see the benefit of an ultrawide monitor, and it'd be great to see even more embrace the ultrawide aspect ratio.

When I look at steam stats I get truly sad seeing only like 1-5% own an ultrawide monitor (2560x1080 or 3440x1440), meaning it really is a niche.

@justin321 said:

That Alienware looks sick! If only I could afford a beast like that.

There is a lot of competition now, which is good for brining down prices.

Acer and LG make some excellent ultrawides as well.

I currently use my Panasonic TH-50CX740A 50" 4K tv for my Switch and XB1X.

But I'll be upgrading to a 65" tv soon, just deciding which one to get. I'm leaning towards Samsung because they have some great features for gamers (like Freesync etc).

Triple monitors in Tie Fighter formation. Main driver is Alienware 3418DW (the other two are Dell 144hz TNs, sometimes rotate them over if I’m doing competitive stuff and need the extra frames).

For console/couch gaming, I have two setups: an LG 65” B7 model and a Samsung 55” NU8000. Good at the time but with VRR going mainstream I’ll probably retire one in favor of another LG OLED.

Samsung S34E790C 34" Ultrawide

Acer Predator XB271HU 27" 1440p 144hz IPS GSYNC

Both monitors running from a EVGA 1080ti Hybrid GPU. I used to game on the ultra-wide but after deciding to see what 1440p 144hz on an IPS panel was about; I won't game on anything less than that moving forward. When the Series X and PS5 release, I'm going to be getting a high refresh rate IPS monitor with at least a 1440p resolution for those consoles also.

living room:
- 65" Samsung Q90R (HDR, 4K@120) for primary PC and PS4 Pro
- an old 22" LG (1680x1050) used just as occasional secondary monitor when needed (gauges in racing games, etc.)

bedroom:
- 75" Sony X900F (HDR, 4K@60) for second PC

guest room:
- 55" Samsung ES 6570 (3D, 1080p) for third PC + PS4 Slim + PS3
- 42" LG LD550 (1080p) for fourth PC

/EDIT: All PC's are capable of gaming (the weakest one sporting a GTX970) and used for "LAN parties"
