What kind of gamer do you consider yourself to be?

This is not a poll question, but a more descriptive one

I think I am casual in a sense that I have a huge amount of games, but I have probably only played about 5-6 for more than 2 hours. In that sense I am a casual but the games I did play like LoL, W3, Seige..etc I tend to consider myself on the hardcore side

If I don't like a game, I won't even bother continuing it anymore to see if it gets better. Been burned too many times. Now, I play a lot and I play what I like.

I've been a lazy gamer lately. Got games just not playing.

Barely buy games at launch so spending habits arent too bad. Prefer to engage with the actual playing of games rather than talking about them on the forums as I've found that games are less fun if you're reading/arguing about them every day on the forums.

I'm generally more optimistic/positive than others, I'm not too hot and bothered by the typical gamer mob mentality complaining about business practices or general company hate unless they affect me. People tend to find that I have a widely unpredictable taste of what I like and dont like, there are niche games, classics I dont like and games with a mixed reception that I do like. I think im becoming abit more casual as time goes on or at least more tolerable towards them.

Just an honest and humbled gamer/collector/hobbyist with over 30 years of real life gaming experience over multiple platforms to draw upon for my non biased opinions and reviews. I I like to qualify my opinions with actual raw data with critical thinking that draws upon my vast experience with the hardware and games I'm talking about.

Idk... I just like playing games.

I'm a gamer, I buy games and I play them, it's simple. I buy anywhere from 10-50 games a year unlike most trash on the internet, I like to actually play games before I judge them, "but how will I know if it's good or not?" how about forming your own opinion for once in your sad little life, I don't like tomatoes but guess what SOME PEOPLE LIKE THE LITTLE RED DEVILS!.

I buy what I enjoy and skip anything else. I try to stick with the system of buying a game and then beating it, but I've gotten seriously lazy lately. Sales and Christmas make it so I can't keep up. Right now my backlog is sitting at 15 games, which is manageable since the only real time sinks are Rune Factory 4, Xenoblade X, and Ever 17.

Words of truth here. There are too many other great pieces of media to consume to spend time on games that just aren't that good or take 30 hours to get going.

I can't get into online gaming. There was a period of less than a year where I was into sports games online, but that was a while back and I haven't since. I will actually play sports games by myself or local multiplayer.

I like single player games, and in most genres. Open world, RPG, platformer, party game, racer, etc.

Play a lot, and buy a lot. I don't have a narrow preference and will play just about anything.

im exactly the same. Although if i really like a game i'll play it a lot... but im not afraid just to toss a game aside if i feel its wasting my time.

Very open minded. Like to try new genres and ideas. Open to new technology and ways to play games. Open to make myself look like a fool.
Very shy. Hardly ever communicate in online games. Prefer command rose to microphone.
Very impatient. If a game is not grabbing me I hit uninstall. Games that are grindy are gone within a week.
Very sensitive. If an online community is bad to me I immediately stop playing the game. It kills all fun for me.
Very bored. If a game is a lot like another game I played within a year time, I probably won't play it. I need variety and play pretty much every genre of games that exist, in a rotation.
Very casual. I can get pretty good at a game real fast, but I cannot ever dig into a game to become great at it. I just don't care enough to play any one game that much.
Very unprofessional. I will do things that are not optimal because they are funny. In Battlefront I like to use the scream emote before melee-ing people from behind so they turn around before the elbow connects to the nose. Stuff like that. Sure it gets me killed 9/10 times. But the few times that it works fill me with glee.

I reject "always-online" for the sake of it, microtransactions, forced social gaming, the death of the campaign, pseudo-RPG games marketed as RPG games, shooters that reward time spent and not things achieved...

I tend to play a wide variety of games even in genres I'm not too keen on but there is 1 or 2 games I may enjoy.

I don't judge games until I have played them or got as much info as I can about them.

The kind that plays games...

I'd say casual.

Predominantly a PC gamer. Over the years I've tended towards playing more indie games than the big budget, AAA titles, but still do. My consoles go unused (only booted up for exclusives or in cases for back-ups like Arkham Knight's fucked up PC release). Don't like sports games (except Topspin Tennis), despise MMOs, and don't engage in online generally though there are exceptions here and there (DayZ).

People bitch about gaming today being the worst it's ever been, but ever since the advent of Kickstarter, the continual success and growth of Steam, and the proliferation of indies which has lent a huge breath of fresh air into the industry, I have very little to gripe about overall. Creativity is coming back, and I'm very happy and optimistic towards the future.

Hardcore console gamer.

The kind who just bought an iMac for the use of one program with the sole purpose of cataloging collected video games and their respective market values.

Truth be told, Tetris is the only game I've ever played. I just pretend I'm playing other games sometimes and make up my own stories. I like the NES version of Tetris enough, so I'll usually just buy new consoles, gut them out, and throw some NES hardware in there. Nothing beats that next gen feel. Then I just put on lipstick and pose in front of the mirror with my junk tucked away.

Yeah, it sounds like a lot of work, but I just care about this hobby that damn much.

Guess you could just say I'm a completely normal gamer who happens to go the extra mile.

Im probably a casual dude bro/cheap gamer. I rarely play single player because I have way more fun playing co op with my friends.

Backpiler. I bought a lot that I never even touched.... *stares at PS3 /Xbox360 collection*

PC casual. I've had my moments in competetive games, like Bloodline champions, but since then I've never wanted to go any further that comfortable casual gaming.

That actually makes a lot of sense now. No sane person would ever think MGSV was the best game this year, let alone put over 100 hours into it.

I'm very much a completionist who likes to challenge himself and push a game's mechanics and design.

I'm heavily on the gameplay/design side of gaming and honestly believe that story hinders games more than it helps them.

My competitive genre of choice are fighting games and I attend local Street Fighter IV tournaments regularly. I also watch a lot of the big tournaments and know the names of a lot of the top players.

I'm a massive fan of the kinds of games Nintendo makes, I enjoy the souls games very much, and I have a soft nostalgia spot for Dragon Quest (I bought a PS2 just for Dragon Quest VIII).

So that's me...

Mostly a console gamer eventhough I had played several well-known PC games in the past. I play mostly E to T-rated games and do not like the nudity, swearing, and graphic violence that many gamers prefer in their games.

A couple of years ago I was more of a hardcore completionist but nowadays I am just a casual gamer

I play games a lot and play games from every genre (except jRPGs but try them from time to time to see whether this new game will get me into the genre or won't).

Most games that I play these days are feature rich like Total War, Starcraft, Witcher 3 etc.

Simple blockbuster games don't interest me anymore and I only play them once for a change after several months. I game every day for several hours.
