I own the 2000 Metal Gear Solid for Game Boy Color. I got it last year, but haven't played it yet. I think it's a cool thing to have from my favorite series. Apparently, it had a very limited print run. It's worth about $100 or so. What about you, SW? What is the rarest game you own in your collection?

Demon's Souls Black Phantom Edition, probably

At least in my country it was a rare thing to see

I also have The Silent Hill collection (the PS2 one, wich includes SH2,3 and 4, not the crappy HD collection) and ICO PS2

I mean, this one

https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/The-Silent-Hill-Collection-Limited-Edition-Ps2-Sony-PlayStation-2-Konami/1423154651

My friend owns a copy of Rule of Rose, one of the rarest games

Sweet Home maybe? Is it rare? Before Resident Evil there was Sweet Home. I love this game and the movie too.

I'm pretty sure it's Panzer Dragoon Saga, though every time I check, a lot of my older games seem to be annually skyrocketing in price.

Don't think it's that rare or worth anything but I own a copy of ps1 help charity compilation. It came out in the uk and consisted of 3 games road rash, myst and broken sword.

IDK.

Maybe my sealed Greatest hits of FF8 and FF9, but I'd probably get more for my Fatal Frame 1-3 on PS2, or my Mary Kate and Ashely Gamecube games.

Actually, I did just fine some PS2 Spongebob games for $2-$4 each, I'm sure they are worth something.

Probably one of my tiny Kickstarter games - I'm sure I have a few that were only purchased by a couple of hundred people.

I don't really collect games for collection sake - but by luck / determination to own and play I've wound up with a few games that are either either rare-ish or at least oddly expensive for their age

Castlevania Bloodlines (Genesis)

Landstalker (Genesis)

Shadowrun (Genesis)

Diablo (PS1)

Intelligent Qube (PS1)

Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast)

Shenmue (Dreamcast)

Star Wars (Game Gear)

Star Wars Return of the Jedi (Game Gear)

Paperboy 2 (Game Gear)

etc

To be honest I'm not really sure why some of these are worth a lot when they aren't necessarily rare, but I own them to play them. I'm not sure how scarce some are vs just being expensive because of fans

Unfortunately I never started maintaining a game collection until PS3/360/Wii era. The “rarest” game in my collection might be the Metroid Prime Trilogy that came out for the Wii in a steel bookcase.

Only 5000 copies printed, had to pre-order online through Gamestop/EB Games to get it. I wish I had ordered 5-10 more copies, they went up over 500% in value (they went as high as $400 USD at one point for factory sealed copies, and cost $44.99 USD IIRC).

I dunno...

I have lots of PS1 RPGs in pretty good condition. Some of these are possibly rare.

  • Lunar SSS Collectors Edition
  • Lunar 2 EB Collectors Edition
  • Tales of Destiny
  • Vanguard Bandits
  • Alundra

Original box and all three discs? I'm guessing it was undervalued?

HNNNNG...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/VGA-9-0-Metal-Gear-Solid-Subsistence-Limited-Edition-PlayStation-2-Sealed-New/302605234570?hash=item4674ad718a:g:iEoAAOSww85aXnoT:rk:14:pf:0

Like, I loved the game, played a lot of it, but that hurts. That's almost 1000% increase in value.

I have The Witcher 2 Collector's edition still shrinkwrapped. Also, Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty Collector's edition shrinkwrapped. I also have a collector's tin of the original Prey game, but I'm not sure if it's rare or not.

Been in storage for ages. I put probably around 100-125 hours into the main game disc, and a little into online. Watched the Saga disc once and the original box was still in good shape last I saw of it.

Not sure values or if actually rare, but Ive hardly ever seen these games in stores:

PS2- Shadow Hearts trilogy, all seven Shin Megami Tensei games (Persona, Digital Devil Saga, etc), Jurassic Park Operation Genesis, Gradius 3 & 4, Gradius 5

PS3- Spyro Dawn of the Dragon, Persona 5

DS- Big Bang Mini, Sola to Robo

Wii- Super Mario All Stars, Godzilla Unleashed

360- MagnaCarta 2

The for sure rarest item I own is the original Okami e-Capcom Amaterasu plush.

Probably my boxed copy of Divinity: Original Sin Collector's Edition, non-Kickstarter edition. Only 1500 were made.

What happened was I backed the game when it was revealed, but then I wanted the collector's edition but without the ugly green Kickstarter logo on the boxart.

Anyway, while I got it for MSRP, the hassle of getting it separately was kinda for nothing as the green Kickstarter logo on the KS edition as it was first revealed was replaced with plain white text saying "Kickstarter Collector's Edition". Mine just says "Collector's Edition". Only 3000 total collector's eds of DOS were made, half being for KS backers, so the KS and regular eds are of equal rarity.

Nothing. Bro had an unopened FF7 about 6-7 years ago, but that was probably the rarest thing. Demand obviously plummeted after the game became readily available. I think my local store was buying it around at least a few hundred at the time.

Outside of a few gameboy and ps1 games my collection is PS2 and later...

I think Zone of the Enders 2 may be one of the rarest ones I've got, it was not readily available in 2007 when I bought it - imagine it's even rarer now.

Anything Sega Saturn is going through the roof right now.

I have Chrono Trigger Factory Sealed, Ocarina of Time factory sealed (collectors edition gold cart), a sealed Master edition of breath of the wild.

Chrono is around 3k.

My favorite though is my factory sealed Superman 64 and sealed E.T. for 2600.

I also have copy of every core Mario game except Mario 1 factory sealed (been working on getting it). All Fire Emblems US releases sealed. I'd have to look to see whats worth what now.

I don't know if it's the rarest, but definitely the most expensive game for me to acquire was Sunset Riders for the SNES. I had to pay about $300 for it so it's supply in comparison to it's demand must be pretty low

A lot of the expensive/rare games aren't the big players. Random stuff like ducktales 2.

suikoden 2 dropped a bit because of the psn released. Arcadia sealed is pretty bad ass.

Right now my rarest games would be:

Probably one of my more obscure dreamcast games like Record of Lodoss War.

One of the biggest regrets of my gaming life was allowing myself to be bullied into selling my sega megadrive, I would have owned a few games here not many owned any more.

M.U.S.H.A. - Shmup for the Sega Genesis, not sure how much this game is going for but according to MetalJesusRocks (YouTuber) it's a LOT

EINHANDER - Shmup for PS1 and one of the most sought after, according the same guy MJR, it's also worth a lot.

MARS MATRIX - Shmup for Sega Dreamcast, another rare, underrated game, but not sure about the price, most likely too much

IKARUGA - Shmup for the Dreamcast/Gamecube (I got both thank God). It's now available for the Xbox 360/One/other platforms digitally, but the Physical copies for both are astronomical, especially the DC version.
