With Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy coming to PS5/PC soon, along with a new Uncharted movie, let's talk Uncharted! What is the best Uncharted game in your opinion, SW? I personally think Uncharted 2 is still the best. I loved the big action pieces in this game. Also, the multiplayer was actually pretty fun.
Overall, 2. But 4 is a close second and has the best gameplay of the series.
My thoughts. 4 has the best gameplay but that pacing is fucking awful. 2 just knows when to stop the adrenaline rushes at the right time and when to get you back into action.
4 just drags on with the talking, climbing, and walking. Also wasn't a fan of that jeep ride in Madagascar with the rope, mud, and all that shit. I did like the combat sections and wide-linear approach though.
2>4>3>1
1 has aged terribly and is little more than a shooting gallery.
I remember making a similar thread like this several years ago about Uncharted fan favorites and sadly, I forgot what I said so can't copy/paste what I said but anyway.
2>Lost Legacy>4>Golden Abyss>3>1 in that role. But all of them would be A games except for 1 which would be a B+ is how I see it from my perspective. Uncharted 2 is the peak of the series & the goat too. If you include Lost Legacy, it's right in the edge better than 4 because every complaint people had with 4 when Naughty Dogs improved on it.
I think it needs to be said why every fan says Uncharted 2 is the best? I believe at the time, it was just one of the best games ever made. Everything that went right with 1, they improved on it in every way. Good puzzles and probably the best villain in the series. That's not to say that Uncharted 3 was bad, but a lot of fans disliked 3 compared to 2. Maybe they were expecting too much? I went along with liking 3 for the most parts but other than that, it's the least favorite for me that is.
And finally, Uncharted: Golden Abyss. It is often look as the bastard child in the Uncharted family line. Golden Abyss is on par with every UC game IMO. I loved that Vita game. I wasn't a huge fan of the hardware gimmicks. They were understandably put there to showcase the Vita's features, but it's not something that aged well. (except gyroscopic aiming which was WAY ahead of it's time) I think it's only real crime was being on an unsupported platform where gamers resented it for that reason alone. If it's not a "must play" Uncharted game, it certainly is a "must play" Vita game!
Forgot about Lost Legacy. I usually pair with with 4 but if we consider its own thing, then yeah, it's better than 4. More tightly packaged and better paced.
After that, I think they misunderstood why people lived the series. We loved the idea of playing an Indiana Jones adventure, complete with great characters and sharp writing and dialogue. They nailed this with 2.
After that, they tried to turn them into movies, focusing on the cutscenes and scripted events and less on gameplay and sense of adventure.
Uncharted 4 felt like watching a summer blockbuster. Tons of scripted events and chases but ultimately forgettable. Haven't played Lost Legacy because of it
Liked 4. Driving around in the jeep in a jungle was really cool.
I haven't gotten around to beating 2 yet. I'm planning on going through the collection again, and 4, and the side pieces. Though I will need to find the time for it.

I feel like 2 was basically nothing but linear jumping from bombastic set piece to set piece. 3 was bad, but I definitely don't agree 4 was more scripted and limited in gameplay and adventure than 2...
I voted drakes fortune... Reason being it was the first I played. I feel like by 3 I was like "ehhh" I think I'm good here. 4 took my time for granted I felt. So slow and painfully boring at times.
The vita game was pretty great! I enjoyed it alot.
@SolidGame_basic: lol.... Ready for another one!? God of War was better than any Xbox game released last gen... Actually God of War may have been better than every game of last gen... Bloodborne too.

My favorite -- tough, it's a toss up between 3 and Lost Legacy. However, remembering how good and how much I was surprised by how enthralling Lost Legacy was....Yeah, I'll go w/ Lost Legacy.

after hearing nothing but praise for 2 I was expecting something with better core gameplay when I played it a year or so after it came out. might have enjoyed it more if I had lower expectations.
loved the Lawrence of Arabia vibe in 3 so I liked it a bit more and 4 felt like the most complete experience even though it dragged at times.
didn't like Lost Legacy at all, the open area towards the beginning was so boring and the characters didn't do much for me
surprised to see lost legacy get so much love. it's the only one i really disliked.
the faux open world bit at the start, driving across a big field to solve puzzles was an interminably painful way to open to the game that felt like some token response to the overly linear criticism of previous games.
and the rest of the game was just too uncharted for its own good. a little bit of ridiculous and over the top is good, but when scene after scene after scene is ramped up to 11 it's just fatiguing. you feel like your presence is less and less required. it's ok occasionally for a crazy but very short burst of over the top action but prolonged it simply becomes boring.
there's a bit where she's on a train that's out of control, flanked by enemy vehicles shooting at her, and you can just point in the direction of a vehicle, hit jump and she'll magically jump to land with pin point accuracy on the vehicle. you then immediately button mash to grapple the armed guard. once you've mashed and disposed of him, you point the stick back at the train, press jump and voila she's leapt perfectly back to the train. and that's it. no skill required. and it was that kind of thing over and over again. or it felt like that anyway.
there is a line between cinematic game and interactive movie that should rarely ever be crossed, if so only very briefly, and at some point not too far into the game lost legacy not only crossed it but never came back
@SolidGame_basic: me too, actually.... Then I went back to it and realized why it has the Cult following.... Super satisfying gameplay and a world the size of skyrim. A fully fleshed out rpg with great gameplay. A 2nd play through of uncharted 4......? ehhhhh.....
Not sure why Uncharted 1 is so low on many peoples list? I replayed it last year and it was a blast to play, the gunplay was good, the enemy encounters well paced and fun, crushing mode earns it's name, the only downside was the melee combat (it just felt off compared to 2 and 4).
It's pretty much a tie between Drake's Fortune & Drake's Deception. Didn't care for Among Thieves and I never got around to playing the side games or A Thief's End.
