seems like everything is a series with the same games being released over and over. Which one is the best?

Even after the disappointing (but still good) Corruption and Other M, Metroid still stands as a pinnacle to consistent quality and adherence to a focused gaming archetype.
Sad we haven't seen a new iteration for almost 4 years now. And Nintendo blatantly ignored the 25th anniversary of the series' debut. It's one of those niche franchises they own that consistently maintains it's fanbase despite poor relative sales numbers. I've been with the series for 20 years now... and haven't had a reason to leave it behind.
Mario (mainline console platformers) is probably second.
Assassin's Creed, Batman Arkham series, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Forza, are just some that i like a lot
For me, it's hands down Mass Effect.
I'd agree but ME3 ending left a bad taste in my mouth, other than that ME1 and ME2 were amaaazing
The same series that has been the best for the past 30 years, Mario.
Mario always delivers high quality and it did so again recently with the amazing Super Mario 3D World.
For me, it's hands down Mass Effect.

I don't think the problem was the ending. I think the problem was the hype. The ending was your standard science fiction fodder. The computers killing people to save people from programing computers that would kill them is really old school.
The backlash came from all the hype. If gamers were not told for years that their actions would change the ending of 3, and 3 didn't have a built in meter proclaiming that your actions would change the ending, and if every side mission wasn't junping up and down proclaiming that it would impact the climax, I think most of the post game talk would have been about how awesome Tuchunka and The Geth Collective were.
It is a very solid series. Bioware just showed a lot of bad form in how they promoted it. Doesn't really take away from the series though, just shows that devs are happy to lie to make a buck. I mean seriously can you claim that Tuchunka and The Geth Collective alone were not worth sixty bucks?
For me, it's hands down Mass Effect.

ME3s multiplayer was the perfect mouthwash to said bad taste. Even now when I think of ME3 I think of the MP.
I really enjoy too many series to pick just one. I would say Mass Effect and Uncharted were my favorite series last gen though.
All-time favorite is probably Resident Evil or Tomb Raider
For me, it's hands down Mass Effect.

Honestly what pissed me off about the endings were Shepard dies in ALL OF THEM!! tell they patched the "red" ending, I didn't spend years of getting to know my version of Shepard, mold his relationships between his team just for him to die in all 3 fraking endings
Mario -- the main platforming series, not the widespread franchise-whoring.
Pretty much anything by Rockstar North, they've yet to make a bad game.
Deus Ex and its not even close.
You're right, it's not even close....
to being the best series, Booosh!
Mario (over 25 years and debatably at his best right now)
Donkey Kong Country (with the last two games, it's the pinnacle of the platforming genre)
Batman Arkham (The new standard for action adventure games)
Super Street Fighter (still one of the strongest and most well balanced fighters in the industry)
Souls (I'm still about halfway through Dark Souls, but I can see it's something worth mentioning)
Grand Theft Auto, Uncharted, Souls, GOW, MGS, Mass Effect, Deus Ex, Arkham, Battlefield, Gears of War, Witcher, Forza, and GT are all highly rated. Down to individual choice really.
Not always highly consistent but worth a shout :: Resident Evil, Assassins Creed, DMC, Dead Space, COD, Final Fantasy too.
Either Mass Effect, Forza, Tales series, Souls series, Uncharted, Halo, or Batman Arkham for me.
Titanfall has potential to be one once it inevitably becomes a series.
In order:
I'd say Advance Wars if the series weren't in limbo.
I will say Souls even though Demon's and Dark are technically 2 different IPs but who really gives a damn.
In order:
Not bad but you could do better 6/10 :P

Given your distaste for SSB and Mario Kart, I can understand you crossing those off, and I know Assassin's Creed is divisive, but...
Zero Escape? Dude, you gotta give that one a shot. Amazing games!

I actually like SSB, there's just series I like that I think are better :P. I've tried ZE, it's too slow for my taste (as in it moves too slow to get to a point or objective).
Anyways this would be my top 10 series, so judge away so try and not be jelly :D

I can live with your picks :P I wanted to put Batman on my list, but I have only actually played Asylum, so...
And aw, if you managed to get through ZE, you'd be so completely enthralled by it. It's something special.
Souls and it's not even close
Because you are a hipster.
Far Cry 3 easily.
P.sure liking souls has become too mainstream for a hipstre like yourself.
Can you construct a readable sentence?
Dark Souls is universally despised. Deal with it.
