Ok. We all know Nintendo's consoles have been lackluster since the N64 but which console is the worst? . N64: A technical beast held back by a small texture cache and effects that were too demanding on the console like AA which caused poor framerates. The system was a bitch to program for and because of that, it had poor 3rd party support. The system used cartriges instead of the cheaper CD. Cartriges were used to avoid piracy but they were very expensive and only had a max of 64 mb of space. The N64's sound left a lot to be desired. The system's sound was produced by the cpu and didnt have a dedicated sound chip like the PS1 and SNES. The controller is possibly the worst console controller ever. The system only had about 200 games and most of which were trash. It's best games were Nintendo and rare games. Rare's games unfortunately had poor framerates. The console sold about 34 million losing to PS1. Gamecube: A beast of a console with very few bottlenecks. The games looked beautiful and ran smooth. It had less 3rd party support than the xbox or ps2 but much better than the N64. The system used mini dvds which held less space than dvds. The controller was ok, nothing great. It had great 1st party exclusives like Metroid Prime and pikmin. It had less games than xbox or ps2. Wii: An overclocked gamecube. Waggle controller. Terrible graphics. Missed out on tons of great games due to weak hardware. Great 1st party games. Casual console. Sold about 100 million due to consumer curiosity. Wii U: An underpowered console with terrible 3rd party support as of now. Tablet controller with an outdated resistive touchscreen. No must buy games. Developers clown it. It is selling poorly ATM. So, which is the worst? Personally I say the N64. Very limited games, terrible controller, poor framerates. The GC imo is the best of the 4 consoles. Which is the worst to you?

None of thy above. It was the Virtual Boy game console. It literally lasted above 5 months before Nintendo pulled it from that market. Only about 68-10 games were released for it, with about 6-7 more getting ready to be released. The reason what it failed? There were many, many reasons, but here are the key reasons.

1. The red LED images on the screen had an almost 3D effect, which caused eye strain and headache for most people who used it for longer then 30mins. I tried it for about 15 mins and felt disoriented after taking my head out of the View finder.

2. The console sat on a 2 legged tripod and you have put your head up to it to see the images. The side blinder shut of your peripheral vision. It was like looking into the eye machine at the Eye Doctors. After about 30mins or more, youre neck would start to hurt.

3. Even though the controller wasn't that bad, the games were all one color (RED) with different shades. Many of them weren't that fun.

4. The game console cost $180 back in 1995. A lot more then the Gameboy, but cheaper then the PS1, Jaguar, N64, 3DO and Sega Saturn. The other systems were 100x's better however, except maybe the Atari Jaguar, which sucked.

Gamecube. It relied more on 1st party than Wii.  And outside of Melee and Prime the Gamecube is home to the weaker entires in Nintendo's staple series

[QUOTE="blackace"] Yes, it was a console, just like the Vectrex was a console. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vectrex That was just as portable as the Virtual Boy. blackace

It was marketed as a handheld. The vectrex was not.

I think initially when they were creating it they wanted it to be a handheld, but that changed before it was marketed. They were also working on the N64 at the same time. I think the Virtual Boy was suppose to be put on your head, but it was way to heavy, which is why the tripods were created and it became a game console. It was never marketed as a handheld system though. "The Virtual Boy ( Bcharu Bi?) was a table-top video game console developed and manufactured by Nintendo. It was the first video game console that was supposed to be capable of displaying "true 3D graphics" out of the box, in a form of virtual reality. "

No, it definitley was marketed more as a handheld. That's what everyone thought of it back in the 90's, I can attest to that.  No one viewed it as a console, even the people at the stores when you asked to try it out. I mean if you want to get technical about it, you can label it as a portable console, but it's not a console in the traditional sense.

The Wii. The Wii U already has a better collection of 3rd party games than the Wii did.

Excluding the VB, the Wii. Can't really comment on the WiiU as for now. Too early to tell.

I chose the Wii. We don't really know how the Wii U will turn out, but I'm confident that in the end, it'll have a better overall library than the Wii.

The Wii U being there is funny. It's four months old, naturally it cannot compete with consoles that got five years each to establish their libraries. Having said that, my least favorite was the Wii. Gamecube and N64 were awesome, so their inclusion in the poll is just stupid.

i wouldn't say they went downhill after the N64 but if I had to pick the console which I liked the least out of those 4, it would probably go to GC

Saying the Wii U at this point is stupid, it's brand new. Remember how the 3DS had no games at launch?

Also, Virtual Boy is the worst.

The correct answer is the Virtual Boy. If you're only going with what's on the list, I'd have to say the Gamecube. It has the least amount of quality games compared to the Wii and it wasn't as innovative as the Wii. Plus the Wii had way more 3rd party support for it, hence the 1200+ titles. You could also use the Gamecube controller with the Wii and play all the Gamecube games. The N64 and SNES were awesome for me. You can't really pick the Wii U as it hasn't even been out for a year yet. Give it 2-3 years before you judge it.

Yep, I can attest to that as well. It was sold as a handheld. I remember I was at a Toys R Us, and there was a kiosk for it. It felt horridly awkward and uncomfortable......you literally needed a table to hold the damn "binocular" portion and then lean forward into it.

It was held by a tripod for that portability use.
