1982 on the Atari 2600. I remember playing tooth protectors. I also had pong at the same time, but nobody wanted to play it anymore by time I could play.

Since the Atari days, or really the arcades back then. I didn't own a console in the early 80's, my parents never bought me one so I relied on friends and neighbors to play games on Atari and Colecovision, then the original Nintendo. TurboGrafx16 (yeah, not my proudest purchase, lol) is where my personally owned systems history begins.
PC: MS-DOS 5-6 Inch Floppy Disc games.
Console: NES
Arcades: Self Explanatory
So late 80’s/Early 90’s.
Did you hate everything prior to owning your first Sony console as well?
Atari 2600. Used to play my uncle's when I went to my Grandparents house. Got my own for Xmas in 81 or 82. That is the first time I can remember staying up until midnight. Played Missile Command, Yars Revenge and Super Breakout all night. One of my all time favorite memories.
First gaming experience was in the early 90's playing Duck Hunt & Mario on my brother's NES. Soon after I got a Sega Genesis and started playing games like Batman Forever, Vectorman, Streets of Rage, Sonic, and Street Fighter II. Upgraded to a 32x and played Predator and Cosmic Carnage. Also played tf out of Wario World on my Virtual boy. Was never really a big gamer until the PS1 days and Final Fantasy VII tho
Started on Amiga 2000 in the late 80s. Grandma bought us a NES with SMB/Duck Hunt/Track n Field and the accessories in '88. Defender of the Crown on Amiga 2000 was years ahead of what consoles were doing. Still the type of game I enjoy playing today.
Late 90's when parents bought me a PS1. That era brought wonderful memories. I have no recollection of how or why I became a gamer.
NES but was given an atari 2600 with a lot of games for it so played that while having a NES first game was Mario 1 and Duck Hunt bundle remember being sick from school and playing mario 1 all day
One thing I liked with the arcade experience back in the early days was it got me out of the house. I wasn't one to stay home even when I had my own apartment.
NES?
Late 1980's.
Although I vaguely remember my parents having an Atari or something similar, so maybe that.
While I played on my dad's Comm 64 it wasn't until the NES that I really became a gamer. I was 7 years old and would play Mario, Snoopy, Ducktales and various others at the local Boys and Girls club. I was 10 years old when I finally got one of my own with Mario/Duckhunt and Ninja Turtles 2.
Good memories.
What about N64! Nobody had N64?!???!!??!!
What the deuce?!
...So, I had a Nintendo 64. It was already there when I was born.
I started on the NES in the eighties. I wasn't so into the games I had at home but when my friend got Mega Man 2 it was over.
Pong, at my dad's bowling alley. :P
Bowling and Pong? Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude....nice.
Duuuude, you brought a smile to my face this morning, chuckling... Nice. :D
my dad had an atari 2600 and we had some early 80s computers which we had some games on but really for me it was the NES
my best friend got one early on when they first came out and it blew me away. begged my parents for like 2 years before we finally got ours :)
@boycie: No.
I loved NES/SNES/N64/GameCube.
I HATE the Wii/WiiU/Switch.
Nintendo has been dead to me since the Wii came out. They make pure trash the last 15 years and I don’t see that changing. They lost me as a fan because they don’t make games I like anymore.
They are too busy porting N64 games with GameCube graphics in HD then adding a gimmick and passing it off as some “new innovative” game....when in reality the gimmick ruins the game.
Super Mario Galazy, Zelda BOTW and Smash are terrible games. The fanboy reviewers who overpraise Nintendo also sicken me.
I have nothing in common with those fanboys. I don’t live in nostalia, drink Starbucks and watch cartoons.
I hate Nintendo because I can objectively say they make bad games.

I think you mean subjectively.
@jeezers: "45-50 back then. Now she's in her 60s"
So most likely that NES was probably her son/daughter's as I highly doubt a 45-50 old woman would be interested in a NES during the 80's.
Unless she was a gamer during the 70's and carried over when NES came out in 85ish?
I was aware of gaming during the N64 era as a kid. I remember being really young and trying to turn on my brother's Sega Genesis because I saw him play it. Though I couldn't turn it on so meh. A couple of years later my older brother got a PS2 and he gave my siblings and I the N64. That was my first true gaming experience, and it was in the 2000s.
