I always laugh when people claim that SM64 is the pinnacle of 3D platforming. It was the first, GREAT 3D platformer to hit the market and laid the foundation for many others to come, but as of modern times, its dated as hell, and the levels don't come close to things like SMG2.
Had you said SMO wasn't as good as SMG or SMG2, I might have just ignored this thread, but you sure got a good chuckle out of me. Just because SM64 had an action-adventure-lite hub world, people seem to be so nostalgic for it.
Hey, me too, I've got gobs of nostalgia for that game, it was my first true 3D game, but it's not the best 3D platformer, nor the best 3D Mario platformer.
