What game made you purchase your 360 or PS3? X1 or PS4?

When the 360 and ps3 launched was there that one game that made you go out and buy the console? I remember for the 360 it was fight night round 3. I'm not at all a boxing fan but seeing one of my friends play the game when he got the 360, sold me 100%. It looked amazing and was so much fun playing with other people.

Also the first gears of war commercial with mad world playing.. Blew me away.

I ask because it seems like neither console has that game right now. I own both, The X1 for Halo, titanfall (which im prob getting for pc anyway) eventually a new gears, etc.. Currently Ryse and Fifa are my go to games on it... The PS4 because of MLB the show and thats all I can think of right now although I use it to play cod at the moment and that's it really.

so 2nd part of the question why the PS4 or X1?

For the 360/PS3, it was down to the system. New gen hype.

For the X1/PS4, I dunno... Tons of interesting games coming.

No games have made me want to purchase x1 or ps4

Black Friday 2013 got me to purchase a PS3

I'm Canadian but ya when the PS3 went down to $199 on boxing day a few years ago I picked one up with MLB the show. It's the only reason I got a PS3, it was cheap enough.

x360 - primary next gen console. the 1st game i got for it was fight night round 3 haha i was huge fight night fan but that game was garbage. best fight night is by the the 1st one.

ps3 - uncharted convinced me on one

x1 - lol

ps4 - primary next gen console, will buy when uncharted releases

Yeah, it was PS3 w/ TLOU and Arkham Origins for $200. Since I did actually want to play TLOU, I thought why the hell not

I just got the 360 at launch because it was a new system and I was the first to get one out of my friends (and the first to get RROD)

I got a Wii because it was different, cheap and I was interested in Zelda, Warioware, Red Steel and Resident Evil.

I didn't buy my PS3 until the summer of 2010. I bought it primarily for Batman Arkham Asylum and the exclusive I most wanted to play was inFAMOUS. In the end PS3 was used basically for multiplats. Getting a 360 wouldn't have changed much.

I loved Arkham Asylum, but the demo for inFAMOUS steared me away from that game until I caved and bought it cheap in December. That decision really paid off in the end. InFAMOUS ended up being my favourite Sony franchise of all time.

I probably won't pick up Xbox One (I've just always stuck with Nintendo and Sony and it's always worked out before) and the only thing that looks good for PS4 right now is the third inFAMOUS game... I'll probably wait until it gets more 3rd party support. As it stands right now, Wii U and PS3 have more appealing libraries in 2014 than PS4 and Xbox One.

I bought a 360 just for Forza.... twice.

My first 360 I bought with a friend for Forza 3, then I let my friend have my half.

I then bought a slim 360 for Forza 4 and Horizon.

Other than that, I don't think I have ever had any particular games make me pick up any specific consoles.

No game did. It was games that did. As a PC gamer, I already had access to most console games. So when I looked at the 360 and PS3 (Wii was never considered), I looked only at the exclusives. And seeing I didn't buy at the start of the gen, that whole "just wait" didn't apply to me. PS3 won out with more better exclusives. It having free online, Blu-Ray drive, and being way more reliable also greatly helped me lean the PS3 way even more. As a PC gamer, I was already getting burnt out on FPS before the gen even began, so Halo had no appeal to me at all. Forza meant nothing to me because I am not a racing fan (Only own NFS:HP and that was mainly just to fill the genre for my library). The Gears series was/is the only thing the 360 has that interest me. I will just wait until 2 and 3 release on PC and grab them along with the first one. I will admit one good thing came from the 360. I love the controller more than the DS3 and have it for my PC. Microsoft's past record, weaker specs, higher price, lack of games that interest me, and kinect have all turned me off to the X1. I will be getting the PS4 and that may be my last console as I am not a fan of the direction consoles have taken. Paying to play online, lack of BC, and DLC are huge turn offs to me. Some people say BC is no big deal. You know what type of people claim that? Console only gamers. PC gamers know how awesome it is to be able to slip a 1998 game that they love into the drive and actually still be able to play it. While console gamers are stuck starting their collection all over again every gen, PC gamers just add to their collection every gen. The high cost of console gaming vs PC gaming is also an issue for me.

I got Xbox for the original Halo

I got ps3 for TLOU (2nd time)

I got 360 for Halo 4 (2nd time)

I got WiiU for many things

I got PS4 for future games and BF4

I got Xbone for future games and DR3.

I got a PC before it all because i figured I wanted it to be my main system for the rest of my gaming career. That was a bad idea and if I had stuck with that idea I would have gotten tired of gaming.

Yeah Infamous is pretty solid. Second Son is the game I want most for the PS4.

bought a ps3 to play mgs4. bought a 360 to play gears of war. bought a wii to play new super mario galaxy.

I would never buy a console for one game. I bought the 360/PS3 because of games. I haven't updated yet to the next gen. Will definitely get a PS4. It's up in the air right now for the X1. It needs to show me exclusives i want to play...that's plural....and have a price drop.

Bought all at launch, the promise of good games is enough to sucker me in.

Xbox One - Dead Rising 3 and Fable Legends

COD4 and Uncharted in 07.

I was blown away!!!

Hardware, dev support and release date made my buy a 360 and a PS4.

Uncharted 2, of course.

I bought a 360 for NG2 and a PS3 for MGS4 and FFXIII... Kind of funny since NG2 came out a bit disappointing and MGS4/FXIII came out mediocre/terrible respectively. Still enjoyed both consoles though of course.

I don't plan on getting an X1 at all and nothing at the moment has me interested in PS4.

So the answer varies between no games and mediocre games. Why am I not surprised :lol:

Ps3 - heavenly sword

Ps4 - just using common knowledge it's going to have the best exclusives again...infamous coming in March biggest reason atm. Shadowfall good reason. Only non twitch fps in the market of fps.

Killzone only thing saving the genre from twitch casualization.

Xbox360 had independent bioware console exclusivity. That's all I needed.

I got an 360 for Christmas in 08 with Prince of Persia, Lego Indiana Jones and Madden 09. I never had a single game as the reason to want the console, I thought "might as well get another console, means more games to indulge in." As for Ps4, I want it for the same reason. For my Wii U I waited until the Windwaker HD bundle came out, then asked my parents if that could be my Christmas gift. (we do one big gift in my family as opposed to numerous small ones) Super Mario 3D World, SSMBU and Earthbound were also reasons I wanted the console. Haven't been disappointed in a while for console purchases.
