What do you think of far cry 5?

So my friends, i was watching some far cry 5 footage. and i think it doesnot looks bad. not bad, not bad.

it kinda looks interesting. especially after awful crap like FC4 and primal. it looks very step forward. the setting is also unique. the whole cult thing is somewhat refreshing.

just hope it will not get very boring.

on other hand it looks more interesteing than 4 too. 3? may not much.

3 was great.

I really enjoyed the last 3 Far Cry games, so I'm pretty excited for Far Cry 5. I'll be honest, I really enjoy the Ubisoft formula. The change from third/first person makes taking camps and lookout points feel different enough. Plus the guns versus swords and daggers makes it feel varied. I do tend to get burned out 3/4 of the way through but always feel I get my money's worth in the end. Far Cry 5 is a day one purchase on PC :)

Agreed about New whatever, even if it gets boring before the end, probably still get a good 30 hours out of it.

Picking it up on discount though.

I haven't played a Far Cry game since Blood Dragon, but I think it's about time for me to buy another one.

I think any game can be boring sometimes. I usually depends on the mood I’m in. I love dark souls but I played it at the weekend and was quite bored by it, then I played it last night and i fucking loved it.

That’s why i find it pretty asinine as a critique.

If it has a Reset Outpost mode, I'm in. I enjoyed immensely the Reset Outpost mode of both FC3 and FC4.

FC4 also has the most options to turn On/Off UI options. I hope it carried over to FC5.

If I was the one playing the demo in the video, I'd turn off tagging as well.

I LOVED Far Cry 4

It might be the second Far Cry I'll pick up. I only own the first one, while the other three, I won't get because...

Far Cry 2 - Meh

Far Cry 3 - Uncomfortable for my own health

Far Cry 4 - One ending that makes it feel like a waste of money.

Only played the first game and Blood Dragon .and I am looking forward to this game.

The coop trailer they released sold me on the game, but it wasn't just that, I love FC4 coop campaign, and this one looks even better. Day 1 for me

i rather play far cry 3 to explore the island than play mediocre cutscene simulator that is new order/colossus.

Looks okay, i really enjoyed the OG FC and Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4 was good too but WAY too similar to 3.

I have primal but have never tried it (lol) and I will probably get 5 when it's on sale.

It's funny because i fully expect wolfenstein to be the better game critically.

Ghosts constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY rips on games for being more of the same;

But then applauds DOOM, Metro and Far Cry for being more of the same.

3+4 were great, even though 4 was basically more of the same... primal was crap and took all the worst part of the previous ones and combined them into a bland boring setting... will look out for FC5 but unless it scores massively positive reviews, and I am convinced it’s not another rehash I’ll wait to pick it up at the bargain bin...

Primal was not interesting to me because of the weapons that was not modern. But FC4 was very good and I wish I could have finish this great game. So I'm sure FC5 will be very good with very good graphics and I can't wait to see the new stuff that will be in the 5 compare to the 4.

I loved 3 and 4 so 5 is day one for me. They are really great games and I've taken a long break from open world games so 5 will be fun to jump right into.

Also I love the whole 'weird cult' thing. It's SO cliched and overused but I'm right in there from the off. Can't wait.

It doesn't matter what crap Ubisoft puts on screen so long as I can turn them off when I want to. Hell. If I had my way, there wouldn't be any UI at all. The player would have to learn to count remaining ammo mentally. ;)

Obviously, there have to be visual cues for things like getting wounded or something.

From the little we saw, it didn't look very special at all. If it turns out good, I'll play it, but I doubt they will stop with their "give players 5 objectives to do around 3 million times"-formula.

Far Cry never really impressed me. I don't know why.

when I put far cry in 2nd tier FPS games rather than top tier.

in Top Tier i put Doom, Half life, FEAR, Crysis, STALKER, Metro, Deus Ex, System shock etc

in second tier I put Far cry 3, Titanfall 2, COD1, MOH AA, RTCW etc

in third tier the list of mediocre shooters include bioshock, new wolfenstein games, Halo, COD4 to onwards etc

Far cry is more of same. sure.

Metro is step forward at making the new stalker.

I find it hard to be interested in any of Ubisoft's open world games.

I very much like the setting but I am not sold on the gameplay. Ubisoft open world games have a common gameplay loop that feels too familiar.

If it turns out to be a fresher experience, then perhaps I'll give it a try.

Same, I saw Watch Dogs 2 for 20 euro and hesitated for a moment to buy it... But I just can't push myself to play Ubisoft Open World games anymore.

So do other games. It all depends if you like it (common gameplay loop) or not.

@jun_aka_pekto: It is just me personally that over the years, I have played a number of Far Cry and Assassin's Creed games that the formula has become uninteresting.

I have no interest in AC. I don't necessarily like the Ubisoft's Far Cry SP campaigns either.

But, I love the Far Cry (4) world itself. In Reset Outpost Mode (reachable only after finishing the campaign), 90% of the time, I'm up flying around in the Buzzer. It's a whole dimension of gameplay far different from the other Far Cry games.

Ubisoft should have taken the Reset Outpost mode and designed the SP campaign around it (a la BOTW).

@jun_aka_pekto: The outposts in Far Cry 3 and 4 were the most interesting parts. I think they encapsulate all the engaging elements of Far Cry in a smaller space where you have lots of room for emergent situations to happen when all the AI interact with one another. Generally speaking, my issue with Far Cry games comes from the handling of the open world and how little engagement there is because of how transparent Ubisoft are with information, and how similar the paradigm is to Assassin's Creed games.

I still think they are fun, of course. They just run out of steam quite quickly for me.

Far Cry 4 has a modicum of challenge.

Assassins Creeds platforming is almost entirely automated. You can't even fall of a ledge thanks to obligatory baby mits.

Combat, for all it's convoluted leveling up mechanics can be reduced to a single counter button press.

Far Cry 4 uses alot of the same concepts, but it implements them far better.

Dont know, I havent played it. Blood Dragon was ok and I enjoyed the first game all those years ago. The rest I have played were shit.

After watching that video it looks like more of the same tripe with a dog thrown in. I bet the dog dies near the end of the game.

they should have made the bad guys mostly white, Christian, Republican, and nra fanatics. Seems like a missed opportunity.

Didn't the developer say the player's character can be customized (in FC5)?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that is the case. You can select your gender at the beginning of the game. In fact, I think they used a female player character in one of the demos. I'll have to check up on that one.

Looks like more of the same from Ubi which is eh whatever. A unique setting and antagonists aren't going to make up for a boring gameplay loop.
