What console do you think was the pinnacle of actual fun?

I still get entertained by good games, old or new.

GameCube. Melee, Double Dash, Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Thousand Year Door, Resident Evil 4.

Which ever one with Local Co-Op

PS4. Those sales are a bundle of fun.

n64-ps2/3

NES, SNES, PS1, or PS2.

ps3 = crap it was 600 dollars an barely had any fun games it was a blu-ray netflix player thats not a "fun gaming console imo"

Gamecube, followed by N64

Wii followed by Dreamcast. Wii was a group play console that got everyone involved. So much fun playing Wii Sports, WarioWare, and Raving Rabbids with friends.

In terms of immediate fun, nothing beat 5 bucks worth of quarters at the arcade....

But in terms of home consoles I'd have to say the Snes, NES and even the Atari2600 for me where bricks of pure fun.

Ps1 and 2, n64 some amazing games I owned on those platforms. I'll throw ps3 in there also.

Many, many fond memories with Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo for me personally, so many hours spent with tube tv :)

Megadrive, Dreamcast and PSX.

N64 for Golden Eye and Perfect Dark.

Dreamcast. Just so much fun in such a small amount of time.

The N64. It was the best console ever for multiplayer gaming with friends.

DC, N64 & Xbox for MP couch vs & co-op.

followed by Sega Saturn with 8meg ram pack for dem 2d fighters and classics like Panzer Dragoon

N64 for the local MP games! Gamecube would probably be up there but was a bit older then and it wasn't as common for us to all get together and play games. Was pretty much a daily thing during the N64 years.

Xbox 360.

Megadrive, Playstation 1 and Xbox 360.

The Wii has given me the most fun.

For me, the SNES. I was in college at the time. Just a lot of fun memories playing Super Tecmo Bowl and Street Fighter with my roommates. We actually had a quarterly football tournament with a buy in. $20 was a lot of money at the time.

PS1 and late 90s PC

The Genesis, of course. It's crazy how many bonds with friends and family, and overall memories that system has given and still gives me.

Other notables: PC, Intellivision, Saturn, Dreamcast, GB, GBA, NES, N64, Xbox, and Xbox 360.

It's hard to say. I had some great fun on my N64 and Xbox 360. The original xbox had some good times as well. I'm placing my bet on the xbox 360 era. Despite being a little DLC heavy it still produced some great time with a good mix of single player and online multiplayer.

@ProtossX: wtf thats your opinion, I enjoyed bioshock,blackops,MOH,street fighter,skyrim,fallout regardless of the beginning ps3 was pretty fun.

Hard to say, SNES or DC are two I really enjoyed a lot. 360, too.

SNES. So many awesome games, many of which hold up great to this day. Most of them were just pure gameplay fun, even the rpgs moved at a fast pace. And damn, having the Genesis as a secondary? Was such a great time to be a gamer.

SNES, N64, PS1, PS2 DS and PS3. Great times.

Dunno but i enjoyed the hell out of Halo:CE 4 players split screen on the original Xbox. That was fun.

I have the fondest memories of my N64, but I think that had to do with my age more than anything.

X360 gave me some really great years playing online with friends.

Yeah GC was pretty awesome back in the day... also the original Xbox.

GC, followed by N64.

Everything with the exception of all Microsoft consoles. They're really not very fun.

Original Xbox had some good stuff... with the exception of Ninja Gaiden I suppose I could have gotten along without it just fine, but Ninja Gaiden was a must have. Still was nice to have Halo 2, Strangers Wrath and a kick ass version of Chaos Theory though.

Otherwise I agree. Between owning a PC and a PS3, the 360 library came off as damn near irrelevant. So far it's even worse with the Xbone, I probably won't pick one up until the gen is over... if ever.
