What are your top 3 Fav and Least Fav gaming genres?

Hello friends,

In this thread we will discuss our fav and least fav video gaming genre we experience.

so lets start

Most

• First Person Shooters - SP ones. hate MP games.
• Stealth - If done right.
• Third person action games - If they are good and not like cinematic movie game

Least

• Platformers - didnot like em. they are too chidish imo
• Point and click adventure - cant see anything interesting about it. most of these games are interactive movies with some puzzle solving here and there. meh
• RPG- either JRPG or WRPG, either action RPG or top down CRPG. this entire genre is only genre that really never interest me. mostly because gameplay has never been good but anyways.

so my friends what are you 3 most and least fav genre?

Don't dislike any genre except David Cage's games.

Most point and click adventure games don't make you shake the controller (aka Six Axis) just to brush your teeth (as in Heavy Rain).

Don’t really “hate” any specific genres. I never ever play sports games. Would rather just play the sport irl.

I also developed a loathing for cover shooters during the ps3 era. Mostly because every time I walked into gamestop looking for something to play, the shelf was over 50% fps cover shooters. Yay, the shelf is full of games that playing with a gamepad is worse than getting my gums scraped at the dentist.

Fav:

1. Building Games (Minecraft/Starbound/Dragon Quest Builders etc.)

2. Sandboxy (No Man's Sky Next/Zelda BOTW/Assassin's Creed Games)

3. RPGs (Octopath Traveler/Dragon Quest 11/Xenoblade Chronicles 2)

Least Favorite

1. RTS (my brain is WAY TOO SLOW)

2. Sports Games (I would rather play sports in real life)

3. Stealth (I just want to hit you with my +3 club in the face MAN TO MAN! No need to be so damn sneaky about it!) I actually ALWAYS play Assassin's Creed and Boarderlands games PURE MELEE! It is really funny.

FPS is the worst genre there are: too generic, over the top, trying to pander to males, they suck.

@recloud: its not as bad as the weaboo jrpg crowd, where every game is a group of teenagers grouping together to save the world while having periodic sexual tension because the main character is a virgin.

Huh? Most JRPGs barely have anymore "sexual tension" than your average Disney flick.

Huh? I could have sworn a jRPG I played not too long ago, the protagonist was referred to as "old man" and there was no sexual tensions throughout the journey.

I like games set in history, or in other interesting places I want to explore, as for favourite genres:

• Tactical online shooters
• Strategy
• Platformers (both 2D and 3D)

Least favourite games:

• Battle Royale
• Smartphone games
• Tablet games

Indifferent (my "don't loves" are closer to this anyway):

Platformers (haven't cared about Mario since I was 12; that was '92), MetroidVanias (exception: I do really like Ori), Sports, Puzzle, if I missed anything else it probably goes here

I don't really think I hate any particular game genre...

Like: JRPG, Hack and Slash (both proper and musou), fightning

Dislike: FPS, Racing, Platfomer (as for platfomer games, it is on wierd spot. because I liked what I played from Mario and Crash, but never played them more than a few levels).

Actual puzzles like Portal games instead of click to watch cutscene. Significant difference. However there is not much difference between Max Payne 3 and movie games.

Actually there is. Max payne 3 is cinematic done right. its gameplay is actually more challenging than first 2 involving gameplay that neither uncharted nor tomb raider ever delivered.

new tomb raider reboots wish it would be even half as good as max payne 3.
