What are your favorite and least favorite 2020 games so far?

Favorites:

• FF7 Remake: This is my GOTY. Nothing can really stand in its way at this point, not even the overhyped Cyberpunk. Plus it may get delayed again lol.
• Yakuza Like a Dragon: I'm only 7 hours in, but I can tell this game is very special lol. Really enjoying it!
• Demon's Souls remake: This game is stunning. Great way to welcome PS5 owners to the next gen!
• Ghost of Tsushima: the combat is fun, but what really carries the game, is the story. Well done, Sucker Punch!
• Xenoblade Definitive Edition: finally got around to playing one of the all time great JRPGs, and it didn't disappoint.
• Ori and the Will of the Wisps: amazing game. These guys do a great job. Come on over to Sony, please.

Mixed Feelings:

• Last of Us 2: amazing gameplay, and dare I say, innovative A.I.. Gameplay alone makes this game amazing. I give it a mixed feelings rating because they introduced characters that I didn't care about at all lol. And they killed off a great one!
• Black Ops Cold War: I really like the new mode Combine Arms Assault. Everything else seems to be just ok. But I'll keep playing.

Least favorite:

• Sakura Wars: the combat was too simple and easy lol. I felt mislead! Also, Sega needs to get on with full English voice acting. I'm willing to give a future title a chance if they make these improvements.
• Panzer Dragoon Remake: I played for like 10 minutes, but didn't like what I played lol.

Haven't played yet:

• DOOM Eternal: this game is discounted to $20, but not on Steam. Hurry up, already lol.
• Resident Evil 3: just ordered this for $15! looking forward to it.
• Crash Bandicoot 4: just got it for $40.
• Nioh 2: going to wait for the free next gen upgrade before I play.
• Watch Dogs Legion: literally just got this lol.

Need more time:

• Hades: loving it so far, but it's too early to know yet.

Favorite: Doom Eternal, Demon's Souls and TLOU3. CP2077 is guaranteed to be on the list as well.

Least favorite: Everything Ubi regurgitates and Fortnite.

Least favorite game that i spent money on is RE3R and nothing comes close.

Resident Evil 3 I think you're going to like. If it's cost for you was only $15, it'll definitely be worth it.

Fav - Desperados 3/SOR4/Alyx

Do like the gameplay but the writing in Squadrons is bad to the point of making what could have been a surprisingly great SP yarn, throwaway.

Notable 2020 games that I absolutely enjoyed:

• Dreams, Nioh 2, Kasumi Simulator (P5R), FF7R, Sakura Wars, TLoU Part 2, Ghost of Tsushima, 13 Sentinel: Aegis Rim (The story is really good, try it!), Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.

Mixed or least fav

• Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 4 (idk I lost interest after episode 3)
• Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia. (Nostalgia, I loved the PS1 game)
• Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town (Nostalgia, gameplay is outdated, very easy if you played the PS1/GBA versions)

Yea, it just got discounted to $15. I was waiting for it to get real cheap, I heard it's very short.

Crash Bandicoot 4. I want my money back.

• Detroit becomes human - From what I have played. this is first time I played sony exclusive on PC since it hit on PC this year and my goodness. its not even a movie game. its a shitty C movie that has few button pressing and QTE here and there. 0/10 game.
• Death stranding (PC) - Ewwww. amazon delivery simulator. great universe and had amazing concept. could have been MGS of this gen but no. its unplayable walking sim chore.

Favorite: Persona 4 Golden (PC). This is my first experience with the series and I love it. Also loved Paper Mario. Surprised it hasn't had more attention

Least favorite: MS Flight Sim. Actually, it's pretty good - but not worth the LITERAL MONTHS it took me to get it to install. Worst software release I have ever experienced. Astonishingly bad

Are you still having issues with the Windows Store?

@Pedro: I mean, I got it to install eventually. Over several days of rebooting from stalled installation progress points. I don't think it's the MS Store, really - because it installed fine as the 2gb app or whatever, but once the app launches to install the REAL thing, that's where trouble hit.

Well the "good" news is that MS is moving away from UWP and moving everything towards GDK. Which means, it would just be the "normal" development environment for their PC games.

Pretty good year imo, didn't played anything I would consider bad. Ghost was a big disappointment but still ok.

Cyberpunk will probably be tier 1, I REALLY hope so.

Fall Guys (I don't dislike it, but it got repetitive fast)
Risk of Rain 2 (It's not bad, but overall pretty meh)
Phasmophobia (Great idea for a game. Would be cool if a real studio took the idea and made a decent game out of it)

I love movie games as you call them I agree with you for once.

I call them movie games because they are handholdy walking in straight line and full of cutscenes. RDR2 is also movie game due to it restrict the player and barely have gameplay when in misison.

in case of detroit which is actual movie game. its not a movie game. its just some movie with occasional QTE segment and dialogue choice. no gameplay at all my friend.

These are the games that came to mind, I probably forgot a few.

I have yet to play Hades, Paper Mario or Cyberpunk. It seems like 2020 was a solid year, and this is becoming a trend for a console generation's final year: just loads and loads of good games to pick from.

3. Final Fantasy VII Remake
4. The Last of Us Part 2

Those are the games that were released this year that i played, I consider all of them pretty good, but that would definitely be the order in which i like them and definitely if it wasn't for Persona 5 Royal, 13 Sentinels would be my game of the year, but it was close though.

@adsparky: never heard of 13 Sentinels until literally just now lol. I see that it's a Vanilleware game. Amazon has it for $30. Ordered it!

Eternal and SoR4 were my standouts for new stuff. TW101 Remaster being my tops, but it's barely more than a port, hardly counts.

Would probably dig Ori 2 and Des 3, just didn't get around to them yet.

Can't say I played through anything I didn't like. Sushi Ghost probably the worst game I touched this year, but only played it for a bit.

Yeah dude, it's great. One of the better action games this gen.

Should give Nightmare a spin if you haven't already, that's where the game really shines.

Favourite: Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Least Favourite: Skater XL

The game tries to teach you its way of playing. Once you come to grips with that it starts becoming really fun and becomes a game where you identify targets and eleminate them with the weapons you have and taking into account the threat they pose.

Favorite is Streets of Rage 4 and Animal Crossing. Least favorite is probably Star Wars Episode 1 Racer. I love the game but the effort was so minimal on the port. No redone textures or cutscenes. No online multiplayer.

Nioh 2 and Ori.

I do really want to try Hades.

Least favorite??? AC Valhalla for existing ..... serious answer, I can't think of anything that I played and disliked from 2020.

My favs would be the PC port of Horizon and Xenoblade DE.

Horizon was a nice surprise. I was expecting tomb raider with robots in an open world but it's quite a bit better than that. the combat is more fun, the story is certainly more interesting and exploring the world is generally a pleasure. i must get back into it again but Monster hunter world....she is a demanding mistress :S.

Xenoblade DE: i was worried about this. i played it on the wii and loved it but never finished it. it wasnt perfect and i remember a few annoyances that, today, could really drive me mad (side quests on the wii version were a mess). but thankfully the QOL stuff they added was small but made a huge difference and the game still remains brilliant. its a shame they didnt improve the way Colony 6 was rebuilt but thankfully that never gets in the way. the expansion was also fine. it was like the last few chapters in the lord of the rings....a time to just calm down and reflect a bit on the sheer madness of the base game.

i havent really bought many games released in 2020. Cyberpunk will more than likely be up there but i wont be playing that until march/april 2021.

Its opposite of movie games that nominate this year GOTY. its only game that is nominate among movie games. of course it wont win because its not enough mainstream.

Nioh 2 prob would land in the tops but I want the pc version to abuse cheat engine to skip the loot stuff, I actually like trying different builds in the ng+ stuff but I seriously cannot be arsed with the upgrade system.

This topic reminds me that sometimes games that most people love just don't do it for me many times. Yolo I do me fam.

2. Trials of Mana (I liked this game 100x more than crap Final Fantasy 7 remake Kevin is BEST BOY!)

3. Ring Fit Adventures (Yes I still play it all the time)

1. Animal Crossing (This game is Nintendo at the worst they can be. Don't get me started it would take an hour to fully explain how much I HATE everything this game stands for. Maybe I'm exaggerating......no.... I hate it just that much!)

2. Borderlands 3 (I loved part 2 so not sure why I did not like this)

3. Final Fantasy 7 Remake (HATED IT almost forgot how much I hate dirty ass Midgar, having to spend an entire game there was more than enough to remind me)

Persona 4 gold is amazing. You should try the new game plus if you haven’t try it. It has a hidden boss.

I wouldn't have expected any of that anyway. Might get the GOG version the next time I feel like playing it again, the distant future. Couldn't get the sensitivity right on my emulator, which made boosting in corners hard to impossible, and the background geometry was messed up.
