What are your controversial gaming opinions?

List your opinions about gaming that you think most people would disagree with. You never know, you might find some people that agree with you.

For me, I think that the N64 controller is one of the greatest controllers of all time. Not only that, but I even prefer playing FPS games with a N64 controller over any other controller. I think that the combination of the one analog stick and the C-buttons used in games like Goldeneye 007 is more fun than using two analog sticks. Plus, using the N64's Z-button (best button ever) to fire feels so satisfying since it feels closer to firing an actual gun than any other controller.

Im not crazy about playing as a female in my action games. Sorry but not sorry!

Not a fan of PC gaming.

I don't think that is really that controversial. Plenty of people don't like playing games on PC which is why the game industry will always revolve more around console gaming. I also don't like playing games on PC.

Nintendo is garbage.

We are living the best era in gaming NOW:

• indies are bringing back classic genres and new ideas
• AAAs finally look CGI like
• the average quality of games is higher than anytime in the past
• there are prices for all pockets
• VR is finally good and cheap enough

Bethesda sucks.

SOTC sucks.

Resident Evil 4 is the only great RE game.

Although i concede that as I’m the second person to post this it is clearly not that unpopular of an opinion!

Not sure the one in italics is controversial. It's widely accepted for most hardcore gamers that Bethesda puts out some craptastic games. I guess if you just go by casual gamers, then that's blasphemy, however.

Oh, Overwatch is a mediocre team shooter. I think that falls under the same trope, and something I believe is very true.

Another:

Uncharted is boring. Cliche characters, put into a hackneyed adventure combined with cheesy one liners and a predictable, linear story. It's awful.

I liked the Kinect on Xbox One.

I really dont like Dark Souls, dont really like console gaming any more either.

The PS1/N64/Saturn generation should have been a sprite-based 2D generation with some 3D experiments here and there and not the other way around. Aesthetically, games like Symphony of the Night aged infinitely better than games like Final Fantasy 7.

Master System was an overall better system than the NES.

@uninspiredcup: I agree with this, love my master system but the nes still has a much better library of games because of Nintendo's bs policies back then.

As for the rest of this thread (not all but most) it's called controversial gaming opinions, not dumbass opinions. N64 controller for first person shooters, that's pretty derp worthy.

@LordQuorthon: i agree, early 3D games aged terribly, while 2D simply doesn't age.

That's why i still love my Nes and Megadrive pixelart games, but can't play PS1 or even PS2 anymore.

Yeah I always think the same.

There are more games coming out than ever before, if you don't like some games (practices), it's really easy to skip them and not miss out.

Halo is boring, PC gaming is a hassle, RTS games are boring. Indie games are mostly the same games I played back in the 90s on PC, hardly have any interest towards them now. **** annual sports games and **** annual games of the same series too.

That I think Naughty Dog sucks.

The Switch is an abomination. If you know what the word abomination means then you'll know what I'm trying to say.

• Physical distribution is unnecessary except for maybe collector's editions.
• PS4 is garbage and the only reason people buy it is for exclusives. Seriously using a PS4 feels like stepping backwards in time 10 years. How can anyone praise it?
• Naughty Dog hasn't made a good game since Jak & Daxter. TLoU was cool but the game part was shit.
• Nintendo is a terrible company who hates their fans. Really I think their stubborn and incompetent. Even the creative side has started to slip.
• The Switch is a portable device that can be plugged into a TV, not a console which can also be portable.
• Games in general are better than they have ever been.
• Consoles provide the lowest-tier gaming experience, and should be avoided if possible.
• 30fps is not an acceptable frame rate for most games.
• The AA game space is waaaay better than the AAA game space.
• BotW is a bad Zelda game, but I guess it's a good open world game (it's basically Zelda in aesthetics only).
• Large companies are not your friend, you are a customer and defending them is really dumb. Don't defend Sony, Nintendo or MS when they do sleazy, anti-consumer things.
• Crowd funding is one of the best things to happen in gaming. It reduces reliance on big, heavy-handed publishers and has produced some truly great experiences.
• FPS games are terrible with controllers.
• HDR is a useless buzzword until they standardize on something.
• VR is not a fad... I'm just waiting for them to work out all the kinks.
• Exclusivity is a very anti-consumer practice and should be shunned.

1. 60 FPS is overrated. 30 FPS is acceptable in any game.(Even God Hand and Vanquish proved that a brawler and Shooter game can be awesome in 30 FPS) 60 FPS just makes animations so unrealistically fluid.

2. Resident Evil Remake is overrated. Original is much better.

3.Tomb Raider 2013 is one of the most overrated games of all time.(It was a cover shooter game. while TR should be a 3rd person platformer game with booby traps )

4.MGS games gained +90 metacritic scores because Konami always pays reviewers.(MGS games didn't deserve that high scores)

5.Gaming sites hate hard games because they love to turn the games more and more mainstream.

Naughty Dog suck at gameplay, and haven't made any truly great games (Uncharted series and forward, haven't played anything older than that).

Tomb Raider 2013 is better than ROTR and also better than anything ND have made Uncharted ->

Piranha Bytes have been making better open-world RPGs than Bethesda for some time now.

Doom 2016 was pretty repetitive and overall average as a shooter

do be honest (this is my opinion) every thing exciting about the game industry night now is all happening on the so called indie side of things and I dont mean indie like all only pixel art but including indies like 7 days to die, ark, rust etc.

Take a few min break (relax the eyes by looking far away for a few seconds) every hour of gaming during long gaming sessions.

I dunno, Doom (2016) is really boring?

Uncharted 1 and 2 are just bad, boring games.

If by AA you mean games like Ark, The Forest etc then I love that term and it makes sense.

I really don't like modern gaming. I hate anything to do with connecting my system online. I hate dlc microtransactions patches updates multiplayer and games as a service.

While I appreciate great graphics and framerate, when it comes down to it I really don't care about these things. Some of my favorite games have poor/bad graphics and fps issues.

I like walking simulators. A lot.

I like games heavy on characters and story, and a lot of cutscenes.

Console power doesn't really matter to me.

Yep. I would consider those AA.

• Not super high-budget - not a ton spent on marketing, and thus, less reason to make it appeal to the masses in order to recoup some of that cost.
• Not quite as polished as a AAA game (though in the current market this is debatable)
• Smaller dev team sizes, the development is not split among multiple studios. More direct communication between the developers.
• No disconnect between the sales/marketing and development like in a lot of AAA games.
• Typically cost less than AAA games, usually $40 or less

AA games just feel like they are more focused on a cohesive idea, and if that doesn't satisfy 90% of the market it's okay because it didn't cost many millions of dollars to make.

• Max payne 3 is best rockstar game of all time despite its weak max payne game

• 90% of open world games are trash
• 90% of third person shooters are bad
• Bioshock infinite is worst AAA FPS game ever ever made. its really that bad
• Metro series is best newly debut series of this decade (2010s)
• Wolfenstein new order, old blood, new collosus absolutely suck and disgrace towards wolfenstein games and FPS
• Doom 2016 is best game of this generation and best FPS of decade.
• uncharted, last of us are more of hollywood movies than games
• Alan wake is best third person horror action game ever
• Mafia 1 is best third person game in general ever made.

I thought about including 'indie is not a genre' in my list, but I figured it's probably not that unpopular of an opinion.

Well, I don't just like every cutscene/character/story heavy game out there. This game in particular doesn't interest me because I don't care for the characters...or the story....or the cutscenes. Just not my cup of tea thematically. I like darker stuff.
