What are your 2019 gaming goals?

This year I played a lot of games from my backlog, which taught me a good lesson: focus on fewer games that you really want to play. Will I follow that lesson next year? Possibly. I hope lol. What about you, SW? What are your 2019 gaming resolutions?

I’d like to get into the 4K scene with a 4K TV and an Xbox One X.

None. I don't really set goals for gaming. Whatever is at hand is just fine with me.

I still haven't played much of the X3 space game series from GoG. Perhaps, that one.

My goal is to break into PC gaming and build a very powerful PC by the end of 2019. I never built a pc before... Anyone know of any online guides or YouTube channels that I can look at in the meantime while I save money?

I just got done building my new PC with Ryzen 7: 2700X and my next gaming resolution for 2019 is to move from 1440p/60fps to 1440p/144hz monitor.

(Still not interest in 4K or Curved 3440x1440)

Just continue sticking to my compass... I turned 40 this year and I've never played less games in my life but yet enjoyed them more than I have in a while. Real life is so interesting as a dad and in my career... Games have nestled in this spot of, "if I have the time." and I enjoy that.

I use games... I don't owe the industry another cent, I don't owe developers anything... There is no loyalty to this... Gaming to me is about, well... Me. In 2018, I played what looked good, and I avoided what didn't... 2019 will be the same.

Dropping my purchases to 6 games for the entire year. I'm done with my retro collections so this should be easy.

@TheEroica: Happy early birthday, entering 40 doesn't sound so bad and I'm still only in my early 30's and sometimes, I feel like I'm in my Prime as it is lol. I been gaming since 1993 with SNES and will continue playing games until I'm ready to fade away.

Hoping to join the 8K 60fps crowd by SLIing my PC. Gonna build an identical one and hold them together with tape to maximize bandwidth.

Dent the backlog. Surprising how much Ive been able to do with other stuff and other games now that Ive put all MMOs away.

The same as 2018: play my seemingly-endless backlog. Seriously I've probably got like 1,000 hours of games I haven't played.

Oh yeah and build myself a new PC, it's been five years, the ol' Geforce 980 is getting a bit long in the tooth.

I’d like to say that I’ll knock a few games off of my backlog but that ain’t going to happen. I’ll be getting Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on December 7th, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Forza Horizon 4 shortly after that. Then there’s Resident Evil 2 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 in January. Then Devil May Cry 5 and Anthem shortly after that.

Play and complete possibly all the games in my backlog, or at least give them a try, which pretty much span from the NES era.

I recently completed Little Nemo: The Dream Master for the NES (a true tough game), now I'm playing through Batman Arkham Origins which is a great game despite not being developed by Rocksteady, but having just finished Little Nemo Batman feels extremely easy, which is good in a way.

Then I'll have to play and finish Metroid Fusion, Crash Bandicoot trilogy and Spyro trilogy for the PS1 on Ps Vita.

It's just too many games to play and to catch up on. I just hate the fact that I have so many games that I bought and never even started.

I'll play catch up for years I guess, I haven't even bought any of the current consoles yet. I'm merely playing games up to the 7th gen.

I guess I'll have to avoid Steam deals and the likes from now on.

"Have fun" is my goal. :P And continue to not pay a cent to those AAA studios with various shitty practices they're known for these days, doing my part in creating a better gaming world.

@davillain-: Thanks! I already hit the big number! And yeah, 40 isn't so bad... More importantly, gaming at 40 is quite good. In my 20s and early 30s I had time... I could play throughout the year with only temporary distractions... In fact I used to seek out games as my sourse of free time excitement.

Now a days I put games in the lower end of the spectrum of life and I realize that for me, Im finally consuming this hobby in a totally constructive way. It doesn't sap time from my family, or Ambition, or real life... Its just there for me when I want it.

Along with many of you, i would like to get games out of my backlog, also although I am not a Trophy hunter, would like to increase my by gamerscore by 10-15k.

Another for me is to try to limit myself to playing a couple of games at a time.

Buy less games. Clear more backlog. I beat a lot of games this year and I want to keep it up. Probably need to pick up a Switch too if there's a price drop

same as this year. try.....TRY and give some more games from the backlog a play through. not necessarily finish them but give them a good run.

i didnt get anywhere close to as many done. unfortunately the games i currently want to play are...well....a bit big. it took 230 hours to get the world championship in F1 2017 (at reasonable difficulty settings...i could have cheesed it). i took another lump out of BOTW (i have the DLC to do but i think i will leave it), xenoblade 2 (but i havent even started the expansion) and tombraider (this should be done really. its a short game).

but then i have games like monster hunter on the switch which is enormous (im not even hoarding stuff. even just getting to G rank is taking its sweet time), POE (oh yeah. took another lump out of it), POE2 and now i have discovered that warhammer2 total war has a massive combined map to play on. to just play that with 1 faction could be another 200 hours. im just going to play the smaller missions and 1 race on the big map and thats it.

i have actually put off getting smash. no more games for a while. its getting silly.

Gaming goals? I don't even have life goals.

Im going to focus on playing games that I enjoy and wait till I complete games or get satisfaction out of it before I get another one.

For example I'm trying to play Dead Cells, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Fist of the North Star and Fallout 76 all at the same time.

I payed full price for every game and just recently all those games were on sale for an entire week by $20 off or more (Except Dead Cells)

So in the end I'm just hurting myself by over paying for games I'm not playing or even focused on.

I also need to come into the year having beaten every Kingdom Hearts game, even the dreaded *gasps* Chain of Memories

At this point with my busy schedule with work and the GF(Thankfully she is a gamer too) beat the new AC, been playing it for 30+ hours and barely put a dent into it, really get into Forza 4, and cant wait to dive into Gears 5 when it comes out.
