Well, I completed A Plague Tale: Innocence last weekend. Still not quite sure what I think of it. I liked it more when it was about stealth and puzzle solving. I didn't like it so much when it threw me into a boss fight in a burning castle against a dude who had set himself on fire. The game went five ways bananas at the end, and somehow reminded me horribly of Resident Evil 5, for some reason. Rat tornados. That's all I can say.
Since I still don't know what to think of it, I had to boil it down to the basic question; did I have a good time with it? Eeehh... ...yeah, I suppose it's worth a 7/10, ya? Asobo Studios are certainly talented visual artists and engine programmers, but maybe once they're done with Flight Simulator, they should get someone to nail their feet to the floor and focus on a core idea. And keep them as very, very far away as possible from Hideo Kojima. He would be a bad influence on them.
Anyway, continuing to go through my sales haul. For this weekend, I'm dusting off my Xbox controller to play Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The game feels so old-fashioned, and that comes with some annoyances. For one thing, a game like this should reward pure exploration, but I already had to look up the wiki once to get myself unstuck. How the heck was I suppose to figure out on my own that I was supposed to bring the photograph to not-Alucard in order to progress?
And yet... ...I like it. There's something absorbing about it I can't describe. I like it, but I'm not sure why.
