What are the odds of MGS4 being remastered for the Pro?

I can only think of another game which is as legendary as MGS4, that would be The Witcher 3. The game is so good to the point where it is no longer just a game, it is a piece of art. This game is in a new league of its own, just look at how good The Last of Us, Uncharted 2 and 4 were - even these superb games do not even come close to the quality of The Witcher 3 and MGS4. Sure superb games like Half Life 2 were great and all but it lacks the heart, emotion, power, quality etc as seen in MGS4. The only problem with MGS4 is from a technical perspective it is no longer playable in any way. The framerate is below 30fps, it is impossible to hit anything with the aiming. I honestly do not know how I was able to play through the game 15 times almost a decade ago...

Seeing as they've remastered older MGS games for the PS3, is there any chance this masterpiece will be remastered for these new consoles or even PC?

If it were remastered it would have to make use of both Sony platforms per their specs and requirements, they can't just make a Pro version, it has to be on PS4 as well.

MGS4 especially would look pretty ugly with it just getting an uprezed to a higher resolution. Someone would need to go in and clean up all of those blurry textures.

I'd love to see cows try to keep up with the charade of pretending to like that piece of shit until it reaches its breaking point. Probably not going to happen but I wish it would get a PS4 remaster.

Sure but my understanding is PSNow is a streaming service, it's not gonna affect the performance whether you're using a 750Ti or Titan X

As for the Pro, NeoGAF will get everybody in line, they're the SDF army. They'll tell gaming journalists how to spin it. They'll ban hammer anybody on the site that slights Sony with criticism.

Seeing as Kojima and Konami went through a messy divorce, I would say the odds are low.

Probably won't happen. Konami is shifting its focus to the mobile market. And already had a few years to jump on the remaster wagon. Konami also doesn't seem that interested in giving the fans a proper MGS game.

It would also be a massive undertaking to get MGS4 to a current gen console. Its one of the few dual layer blu ray games. And it won't be easy to reprogram all those gigabytes of data. Then upgrade all the textures and what not. That is if this won't be a half ass effort, like what Capcom did with Veronica and RE4 "HD" collection.

Kojima would have squeezed the last drop. The current Konami, they seem to be focusing on other stuff now.

That's irrelevant though, Konami own the rights to everything MGS related. They can do what they like with it. You don't need kojima to remaster a game.

@jak42: aren't most ps3 exclusives dual layered though? That's why ps3 exclusives always looked a lot better than multiplats and xbox 360 games.

@jcrame10: I think most of the Sony developed games and a few 3rd party like mgs 4 used DL discs. I think the 360 used DL discs too though. I think its more of hd dvd vs blu ray, especially for a game like MGS 4

@jcrame10: There's still a significant number of PS3 exclusives, that were single player and didn't take up much space (other than GoW3).

Uncharted 2 was 19.5 GB. So you can get an idea with a game of that scope, beauty, and content. Of how much smaller was a large number of last gen games. Including other PS3 exclusives.

Konami could always opt to get out the beta source code and use that to up the res :).

Very low, in fact I'll doubt we'll ever see much of the MGS world before the reboot that is MGS5 ever again. Konami will milk MGS5 for all it's worth. An continue on the path of westernized MGS games with boring open worlds, zero codec calls, no humor, no interesting boss fights. MGS is heavily westernized now. Next game is a zombie ops based shooter just like a bazillion of other western based zombie based games. Next comes Call of Duty inspired MGS. It's just milk milk milk and rape rape rape the franchise from there. Oh there will be plenty of micro-transactions to go along with it.

They made a great MGS3 pachinko machine, so if you're into that, 100%.
