Considering the people from CD Projekt said they feel like they are very close to maxing the PS4's power I'm not impressed. Especially when rumors are that it will be sub 1080p.
Well, Epic said they were pretty close to maxing 360's power with Gears 1, then Gears 2 came out and looked alot better, then Gears 3 came out and made Gears 1 look one gen older... That have been happening with almost every series in every past gen.
Every game uses most, if not all, power of a console, but only late gen ones uses it right.
However you fail to realize that like with Gears 2 vs 1st other aspects were downgraded for the new improvements.
Supersampling can be done right in BF4 on the PC. There is a slider to push it up to 200% so you don't need to fiddle with AMD/Nvidia control consoles to force custom resolutions. It can be done though.
BF4 also doesn't have that blue filter that BF3 did. It still has filters, but they are a lot more subtle and unique to each map to give each just a slightly different tone. Those screens clearly have a slight brown/orange tint to them to bring the autumn colors out.
Nice more games should have that feature. it would make games more future proof.
If there is one thing I love about PC gaming, it's the ease at which you can revisit old games.
The amount of hate certain master racists have given Infamous has been astonishing. It's like they refuse to acknowledge that a console can pull off visuals that would threaten their rig to some degree.
That Hype thread we had was really telling. lol. I remember there was one guy absolutely desperate to prove Witcher 2 could compete and just kept getting destroyed.
Anyway next gen has me extremely pumped, imagine if the next souls game has visuals approaching the CG openings for those games. *Drool*

Second Son looks great and I'm just happy that games will look even better as the gen goes by and devs get more experience working with the new hardware.
I wouldn't expect them to get much better looking after Second Son. Sucker Punch went all the **** out. It's not like there's gonna be any secret sawce to unlock this gen.

All I'm saying is games at end of gen always look/perform better than at beginning. If games dont this gen, we're still going to get some great games.

PC has been running games at 1080p for years now. 1440p is becoming the new standard for monitors. The new wave of GPU hardware is going to make the PS4 and Xbone look like the PS3/360 look like to the PS4/Bone now.
I'm not that fond of the "realistic" artstyle, but **** me, those ARMA screens are gorgeous.

Colorless? Are you blind? It doesn't have an art style because it's designed to be realistic. The colour palate is that we see in real life. It isn't over-saturated, or over-exposed. It's real. And those screenshots, for a game trying to recreate reality, are amazing. You must be trying to stir the pot, because anyone with two eyes and a brain would tell you they look great.

They literally took a regular looking game, turned up the bloom to 11, and every console gamer in the world pissed themselves.
Also, can we please quit with the photomode Second Son screenshots? It's fucking pathetic. If you want to actually show off the game's graphics, show real time fucking photos. The game itself is decent enough looking that you don't need to whip out bullshit photos. I don't run the fucking PC photos I show through photoshop and add tons of artificial depth of field that wasn't there in the original. Depth of field as well as quality anti-aliasing (which the photo mode also seems to add) is an intensive post processing effect, and to present infamous as if it has this amazing bokeh depth of field throughout the game is just disingenuous.
I think MK8 looks stunning. So much colour and personality to it. Of course it also has mustache wobble.
I am very excited to what WiiU will have to offer in the coming years, especially Zelda U.

games will continue to look better as the years roll by. Expect a shorter generation though like 5 or 6 years. The hardware should have been better though I was expecting 3-4 teraflop gpu power minimum.

Next people are going to claim photomode uploads screenshots to servers for resampling.
The PS4/XB1 are now the baseline so everything will be given a big push in terms of texture quality, lighting, animations and polygon count.
I don't think people realize how much the PS3/360 were holding back graphics when it came to facial animations. There is so much fine detail devs had to pull back to fit on the PS3/360.
Quantic Dream's next game will surely impress in terms of facial animations.
The biggest thing that will make these next-gen games shine is in terms of lighting quality. I think this will be the year where we will finally get quality lighting in games. That really is the key to realism.
