Watch Dogs (Wii U) Launching Fall 2014

I guess that's one way to artificially plug the holes in your software schedule, lol. Honestly, though, I don't see this selling much on the Wii U at all; maybe it would have had a chance of at least making returns on the investment if it had launched day and date with the other versions, but as it stands now, it's gonna be a very spectacular bomb.

Well, at least we know it coming. I can't see this game selling very well at all though. It's coming later and it's going to be on the 360 and PS3. If I want to play this game, I'll just get it for my PS3.

Why? The last Ubisoft game (AC4) was worst on WiiU. DIgital Foundry:

Those sound like very minor gripes in comparison to the convenience of not having to pause the game to set map markers and fast travel. At least I'm assuming that would all be on the gamepad. I've only played the PC version of AC4.

Same here. Will be getting Watchdogs for PC too. If not that, then it would be PS4. If not that, then it would 360. If not that, finally WiiU :P

The difference being that Watch Dogs never had an audience on Wii U to begin with. The difference being that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs is inferior. The difference being that Watch Dogs on Wii U and other systems is still functionally the same game.

Well, AC4 is nothing but repeating missions anyway, even when you advance to new ones. In all seriousness, though, I'm sure the game runs fine. The difference between the Wii U and PC/PS4/Xbone version is huge. I would never buy that version if I had one of those platforms. The difference between the Wii U/Xbox 360/PS3 versions is negligible, though. It's basically the difference between PS3 and Xbox 360 multiplats earlier last gen, where you really could only tell any difference if both the games were running right next to each other.

I am REALLY surprised it didn't get cancelled. Good for Wii U owners who don't own a PS4/X1/PC.

I would have been surprised if they had cancelled it, simply because they have been working on it for a long time now. The game is going to lose Ubisoft money, but since they have already spent most of that money, they will lose less by releasing it than they would by cancelling it. I think it will probably sell 100-200k.

We do know if it's worse. Simple logic and precedence of fighting games on handhelds dictates its worse. The fact that Smash Bros. will have to be played with 3DS controls (one less analog, to begin with) is proof enough. The fact that 3DS's online is laughable compared to the Wii U's is proof enough.

The audience is there- do you think that the Smash Bros. audience, which is the local four player audience, will be happy with the 3DS version, where each player must own not just their own 3DS but also their own copy of the game?

I am making up nothing. I am using some sense and logic, which is something you are clearly not doing. Also, if your assertion that Smash U, which is, let's face it, the system's biggest game (probably the biggest it will get over its lifetime), is 'doomed,' then what is the clear implication? Like most doomsayers, you never explicitly said the Wii U was doomed- you just made it very clear that it was without ever incriminating yourself.

1. Surprised they are getting it.

2. By the time it is out everyone who wants it will have it.

3. This will be the least bought version.

4. This will be the least supported version in terms of DLC. Although given by the time it's out it will likely be a budget title on PS3 et al they may get the DLC thrown in.

There was a time when I was sure I'd get the PS4 version, but after the postponement and graphical downgrade I might just wait and see how they implement the use of the Wii U tablet controller before I decide which version to get.

You put way too much bank into the popularity of local multiplayer in this day and age. Online is a lot more popular and the 3DS has it. Also I dont recall Sakurai ever stating everyone you play against must own the game .
