Watch_Dogs aka the biggest downgrade of this gen

The last trailer we saw was pretty jarring, as it had graphics that were way worse than what Ubisoft originally showed.

The latest trailer they showed:

People are hoping it was the last gen version they showed off. But how many times has Ubisoft done that in an official Watch_dogs trailer ?

Also, according to Playstation Denmark, it was the PS4 version being shown in the last trailer O_o

Another fact why the last trailer was from current gen versions and not last gen: The trailer was in 1080p and the PS3/360 footage could not be recorded at that resolution.

Prepare to be underwhelmed

Quite obvious my friend. Pretty much all publishers used a pimped up pc in attempt to dupe the mainstream console users.

I doubt the PC version will look anything like the original E3 footage either.

They showed the PC version once, and then we never heard anything of it ever again. That's reason enough to be skeptical.

Initially, I didn't think it looked that bad graphically, but the Second Son streams really showcased how bad Watch Dogs looks in comparison. If only there weren't Wii U, PS3, and 360 versions :(

Also, another piece of evidence that there last trailer was from the current gen version and not the previous gen version: it was running in 1080p. So it could not be captured from PS3/360 footage.

Yeah, I mean Ubisoft is basically known now for showing off an amazing trailer first and then downgrading the graphics trailer by trailer until the final release.

It looks ... good yeah. But it looks like GTA 5 with a better draw distance and higher res. So definitely nothing next gen.

If this is true Ubisoft then no one is going to want to trust you again.

The game looks last gen.

even though the rain/spot light is missing, it does look very dull. Time will tell A: just for consoles, B whole package

Maybe it's the glossy water shader that made it look better. Sure it may have downgraded, but it seems like a bad comparison since one is in rain and the other isn't.

@Xaero_Gravity: Yeah, if Infamous Second Son can do realistic looking weather and lighting in an open world game, I don't see why Watch Dogs had to be so downgraded from what they originally showed us.

True, but it's the whole game that was downgraded, not just the wet surfaces.

Just give the last trailer a watch, and compare that to how the game originally looked. It's a massive downgrade. To give some examples

-Character models look worse

-Cars don't have reflection like they used to

-Lighting looks way worse

and so on and so forth

Did they downgrade the PC version as well? If so, I hope it's nearly as bad as whats being shown...

While watching a video of gameplay footage here on GS, I actually noticed a bit of pop-in.

Maybe it went through dev hell while it was delayed. Pretty noticeable downgrade for sure. And if this is the PS4 version....then well....

Doom 3 has cooler lighting.

I seriously hope that's a mistake and it's the last gen version.

Can we start boycotting when developers downgrade this much? Start showing off the real game ,damnit. This downgrade is just downright terrible.

the trailer wasn't as exciting as I have hoped but I don't believe the downgrade is that big.

Well, I hope the PC version looks better. But it not being shown for years now has me really skeptical.

I'll believe it when I see it, footage from a third party that has nothing to do with Ubisoft.

I can't take credit for that gif, someone else made it. That gif only shows the difference between one of the first builds and a preview build from a few months ago.

Doesn't look that way. Several things pointing to this being the current gen version:

-Ubisoft always showed off the current gen version in trailers

They might as well delay it again if this is true. I am not going to play that crappy version.

This is the primary reason is despise ubisoft. Do you remember how amazing The Division 'gameplay' looked? I'll let you guess how much of a colossal downgrade this will be. Its a pathetic company that should be sued for lying in front of millions of peeps.

@silversix_: Yes. The thought of The Division getting a downgrade now seem very realistic and heartbreaking. We can only hope it isn't so!

I agree that creating hype for your product based on false footage or CGI claiming to be real 'in-game' footage should not be allowed.

But I'm glad to see that people in this thread and on the internet in general are growing more and more conscious of this, and expect The Devision to be downgraded as well.

It will happen to The Division and the downgrade will be at least twice as severe. Why? Because just look at these graphics and tell me this is possible (not only graphics but how filledup the world is with micro details AND THIS IS an open world game lol)

Wow, that is really bad. I'm glad I wasn't hyped for this game.

It still looks pretty interesting though I am waiting for it to drop to around $20 like when I picked up far cry for $15 on amazon. it does make you wonder rather or not the division and the crew graphics would also get downgraded

Latest trailer is likely captured from PS4. When I watched the E3 2012 gameplay I knew right then it wasn't going to look like that, not on consoles at least but to be fair the real downgrade test should be between E3 2012 gameplay vs Maxed out final PC version.

Don't get your hopes up for The Division either. It will get similar treatment as Watch Dogs.

Thanks ubisoft you delayed the game six months to look like this... Really I'm still buying it but damn really?

People still don't realize ubi is the puppy mill of video games? Every thing is overhyped shovel ware with this company. Every one of their open world games is nothing more than far cry 2 with a different background. This has been obvious since '07.

Games get downgraded all the time. Granted, this is a really, really bad downgrade.

i don't think this is possible on pc either unless you want to play in 20fps. Its just too detailed for an open world game. Hell its an mmo.... how many mmo's look 50% of what Division does? There's nothing.
