I really can't think of anything else that I enjoyed more. The world and story were fantastic, the gameplay was fun, the graphics were amazing for its time. The sidequests were great, which other RPGs seem to have trouble with. Also, decisions you made in the game actually had some weight. Not to mention the numerous GOTY awards it won, probably even more than The Last of Us. So can we agree that it was the best RPG of 7th gen? Btw, can't wait for the next Fallout!

Dark Souls. Where stat building is put towards a combat system that's actually enjoyable.

I personally had more fun with Fallout:NV, but I wont deny that it was not well designed.

I guess Skyrim is the best.

Skyrim sucks. It's shallow, boring, repetitive, and buggy as hell. Fallout New Vegas is infinitely superior.

This has to be a troll thread.

Skyrim was great but (wait for it...) I liked Fable 2 better personally.

It was a fun game, sure, but, like all Bethesda games, it was buggy as hell upon release to the point where it was literally unplayable. The combat is very "meh," and out of all the missions and mission arcs you do, none of them are that good or memorable.

The only things that I would consider great about skyrim is the sheer amount of content and how open it is.

It wasn't an RPG sadly. It had pseudo-RPG elements to it, but it was extremely linear and none of the choices you made had any appreciable impact on the game world. It was basically as much an RPG as Zelda 1 because to a limited extent you can choose the order you conquer the dungeons.

That's it.

Sure, you could kill a bunch of quest givers and gimp yourself that way, but that was it. I don't like the idea of being able to murder a son in front of his mother because I like his stuff, pay the fine, then talk to the mother as if nothing happened.

Fallout: New Vegas was by far the best "RPG" on consoles atleast for 7th gen. Idk about PC.

better RPGs than Skyrim last gen:

1. Witcher 1 and 2

2. DAO 1

3. Xenoblade

4. Stick of Truth

5. New Vegas

6. Dark Souls 1/2

7. WoW expansion (yes, I went there)

Not going to include Mass Effect, they are as much as rpg as CoD.

(All best on PC btw)

RPG-lite. Even Mass Effect has more choices that affect the game world than Skyrim.

Skyrim did that better imo. Many of the perks were put towards active abilities.

Didn't play DS that much, but I only remember the augment (or whatever) stat would give more abilities.

You can break and exploit Skyrim way too easily

I honestly don't remember a whole lot memorable about it, and the constant dragon attacks is annoying and kills any feeling of greatness/epicness about slaying dragons

I'm not talking about how much the stats effect the combat, but rather that the combat itself was a lot better so it felt like it was more worth it in that way.

Well, I loved the game, but I'm not sure I'd go that far. This could worsen the "nostalgia" comments for my Sheep bretherin, but I had WAY more fun with Pokemon SoulSilver.

Skyrim was a wee bit light on role-playing mechanics. Honestly, it has the same leveling system as Far Cry 3. Skyrim is a Light-Role playing game. So, no, it is not the best RPG of the 7th-gen.

However, was it the best action-adventure game of the 7th-gen? **** yes. It had all the action, adventure, epicness and vastness of a true fantasy story. One-of-a-kind.

My only real problem is that dragon attacks are faaaaaaar too frequent, and that it occasionally breaks a quest or two.

But, there are over 440 quests in the Legendary Edition, so I can't really complain too much.

And btw.... I have never once encountered a major glitch or bug, so idk wtf you people are talking about :P

Skyrim on consoles is a joke. Any Bethesda game on consoles is a joke. I play more on consoles than I do on PC and think any Bethesda game is a joke on consoles... and I probably put 100 hours into 360 Oblivion.

@SolidGame_basic: I couldn't even tell you. I didn't play enough of Skyrim to say it was the best. The Witch 2, Dark Souls, Demon Souls, Lost Odyssey, No Ni Kuni, Tales of Vesperia, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, etc..etc..etc... all were great in their own times. Skyrim would probably be in the Top 10 on most gamers list I think.

I experienced no real bugs or glitches whatsoever in my 300+ hour playthrough.

Most games run at 30 FPS.

sub HD? Wtf are you on about?

Looks like diarrhea? It looks perfectly fucking fine. Real gamers are not "grafix whores" such as yourself and every other member of the so-called "masta rais."

Actually, the last of us beat it out , to be the most awarded game of all time.

but the best rpg of gen 7? Hell no. Not with that clunky, floaty combat that they just cant improve.

Dragons Dogma, the Souls games, Ni No Kuni, plenty of better rpgs.
