Looks decent for a downloadable title but it also seems to run kinda sluggish and the water effects aren't quite on-par with WR64's.

The iPhone version actually seems a bit better.

Keep fingers crossed Nintendo make something with Wave Race too, eh...

Waverace on the n64, is one of the most overrated games ever. And I rarely call out a game for being overrated.

But its terrible. I don't know why anyone liked/still likes that game.

....ahhh waverace...so many great memories as a kid with my n64 and my 3 launch games Waverace 64, PilotWings 64 and super mario 64.

It just always seemed like a right place right time type of game. It was something else to play on the n64 early on when there was nothing else and it was just good enough to where people could play it I guess. It looked better than most other games at the time, But going back to it now I just find it hard to believe it could hold anyones interest longer than 5 minutes. If it came out on the saturn/psone a little later one with the analog controllers I don't think anyone looks back at it fondly or anything. I was suprised to see any that jimmies were rustled by what I said about it, I didn't think anyone would actually care.

Regardless of graphics, I'm not wanting another game like Wave Race. In hind sight, it was a pretty good game, but I was mainly just blown away by the wave effects when it first came out.

Strange statement comming from a Sega fan since Wave Race (& F-Zero) is the closest a Nintendo racer came to a old-school Sega racing game. ;)

Infact, Sega themselves copied Wave Race with their Wave Runner, which was a rare sight. (usually it was Nintendo copying Sega when it came to racing games)

It's strange you can't see why the series is still regarded highly since not only it was a technical marvel back then, it also attempted something not yet seen before in racing games - realistic wave simulation.

And it was generally a well-made and fun game with high difficulty on higher levels.

But you are right that is was released at the right time at the right place.

Today, people would unlikey pay a full price for such a game.

Still, I think something could be attempted in the direction of reviving the franchise anyway.

*still thinking back to the good days on waverace listening to electric jazz soundtrack, and Pilotwings 64 using the flight suit and just flying around the different islands and areas listening to its smooth jazz sound track*
