What
What

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hmmmm Interesting, so apparently this leaker in video RedGaming Tech and also previously Moore Law is Dead and images below found that there exist a Sony patent for a "unified L3 cache" that will also makes an appearance on AMD Zen 3 CPU. The PS5 apparently has 16mb (or 8mb Idk these leaks) unified L3 cache similar to Zen 3 but Zen 3 has bigger unified 32mb L3 cache. The Xbox Series otherwise has 2 separated 4mb pool of L3 cache per one cluster that is in Zen 2 design. What the my mind is actually blown if true. Oh I also provide a link for the article, which is in portugese unfortunately I dont understand and dont care to google translate but credit to them on the patent findings. Enjoy~

*Goddamn Cerny you genius, much respect to you and your work. (Cerny also mentioned way back about if their design is successful, it may be adopted by AMD in their future products. Talk about hints)

And mumbo jumbo images for you guys:

*Edit: oops mispelled patent 😳😳

You are a fool if you believe that AMD needed Sony's help for designing their CPUs.

If the PS5 had any secret sauce, 60fps games wouldn't look like this.

It's been open season on lemmings. I almost feel sorry for them. They can't catch a break now that the cat's outta the bag and the PS5 is confirmed to be the most powerful current gen console which explains why every game looks and runs better on it than the XSX.

I feel like if there was a real difference, DF would have stumbled on to it by now. Something is up though. Sure RDNA might love higher clocks, but the Series X should still be beating the PS5 handily. Something else has to be going on. And sorry Lems, the "tools" aren't gonna save you. And we thought the esram excuse was bad... "Teh Toolz" is 100X worse.

I'll leave this here. This might be one reason why the Ps5 is outperforming the Series X.

Well, there it is. The secret sauce, cows, especially tormentos has put all stock in. :D

So far the recipe of secret sauce includes: teh SSD, teh cache-scrubbers, teh clocks, teh RDNA 3 and now the Secret Zen3 in Zen2 CPU.

No they don't work together no matter what the PR says. Sony is AMD's customer just like other OEMs who integrate AMD's products. Nothing more, nothing less.

Saying Cerny has anything to do with AMD's IP is like saying EA made the PS5 for Sony.

Do you even have a PS5? I have an XSX and I have a feeling you don't know what you're talking about. The games on the Serious are incredible. I'm going to take time out of my busy life to do a thread showing the XSX difference and you personally will soil your pants. Trust me and wait for it.

What makes you think it can't be late dev kits? That's exactly what it is. Without first hand knowledge but just from an honest educated guess I will predict that both the PS5 and XSX will improve considerably over the next year or so. The thing is, I think the XSX will see much greater overall improvements and will leave the PS5 behind. Because it's obviously having many more problems with the current dev kits.

To me it seems as if they are trying to do too much at launch with the quick resume, auto HDR, two consoles and only a handful of Series X/S patches that have that very quick rushed feeling to them.

@Xplode_games: These guys never learn ,they claim zen3 , RDNA3 , infinity cache.. infinity cache is part of RNDA2 and what makes raytracing work , if the XSX didn't have a form of infinity cache there won't RT on the console.

So TC gives me shit for a colteastwood mistake and then comes out with this BS. :-S

That's just great. All hail Cerney, AMD would be struggling with what they're best at without Sony coming to save them (sarcasm).

By who? The impatient and fanboys?

Not ONE Xbox Series game uses all of the Velocity Architecture features and RDNA 2 features. So it's still no where near its potential. So how can anything be confirmed?

Or are you just trying to make yourself feel better by convincing yourself that your piece of plastic is better than another piece of plastic.

You guys even said, "it has no games", so how can you have it both ways? How can it be less powerful when it has nothing to even show for itself?

Even the Dirt 5 dev said "we haven't had much time with RDNA unfortunately".

But how do we know. None of us are developers? None of us know what it's like or how things work, or what it's like trying to make it to a launch window deadline. They must think fans are a joke trying to guess their way through all this stuff. The SWs puedo developers all blamed the hardware for the Assasins Creed issues and then the developer goes some way to fixing it with a patch.

While some of this stuff might not be explainable or make much sense to us, since when has ANY console been at its best at launch?

RT is made possible by specialised cores in the RTX 2000, 3000 and RDNA 2 line up. The cache I doubt it anything to do with that. Also, infinity cache is supposed to be huge, like 128MBs. That would be very expensive for consoles.

RTX doesn't have this sort of cache. And RT is the one area in which the RDNA 2 line up isn't great at according to benchmarks.

Regarding ray tracing, my understanding is that infinity cache has nothing to do with it. I thought infinity cache was to improve memory bandwidth without resorting to super expensive VRAM, correct me if I'm wrong. I think it's possible XSX has infinity cache but maybe they would have less than the 128MB that's in the 6800 series. Maybe they would have 64MB instead but again, who knows. The curious thing is when MS says Xbox Series X/S are the only consoles with full RDNA2 implementation but who knows if that means it has infinity cache, in the future we'll know for sure. I personally suspect the X/S doesn't have it because MS would've been hyping it if they did. However, it would make sense if they have it but only have 64MB and that's part of the issue that's causing the performance problems. Again, this is all speculation by me and I'm not a programmer.

I will make a note that the patch although dropped the res to fix the problem, the problems are fixed. I doubt anyone will notice the difference between playing the PS5 and XSX versions of the game. However, the XSX should be performing much better because it has the more powerful hardware. Regarding the performance issues of the XSX with Assassin's Creed, I wrote what I think in anther thread, it is quoted below.

"Let's think about this for a second and use logic. The torch scene was dropping to 40 fps from 60fps when the dynamic resolution bottom was 1440p right? That's a 33% drop in performance because the res was too high right? Ok so ***THINK*** for a second, do you really think you gain a 33% increase in performance when you go from 1440p to 1188p? 1188p is 55% of 4k and 1440p is 67% of 4k. Please go ahead and explain to me how you gain 33% in performance by lowering the resolution 12%.

I don't know what is going on with the XSX performance but this patch with the slight drop in dynamic res bottom resolution is not telling me anything."

You know what is funny, this people that attack sony and dont think sony can actually add to AMD something that could improve performance, because some how sony doesnt have the knowledge.

Yet for the second generation in a row, MS a software company at heart has shittier tools and more dificult hardware to work with than sony some how.

Is just perplexing the amount of BS spew here.

My point was more that the patch proves that it was development issues and not hardware issues.

If the problem being the game's framerate performance, then it has been fixed with the patch. However, the problem with regards to the Series X overall performance deficit has not been addressed and it seems like that is a fix on MS end and not developers.
