Since Canada has been paying 69.99 this passed year for new games, can we expect the same to happen to the US within the year?

Canada's price hike is due to the low value of the Canadian dollar compared to the U.S dollar.
and no the U.S prices will not increase.
It happened here as soon as the next gen started. KZ:SF was 70 Euro here to buy in a shop. Hell GTA V was 70 on the PSN store too
I honestly couldn't care less. I don't buy games until I can catch a good deal. If that means used, then so be it.
yea no thats only canadian. ITs the excghange rate stuff. And its not gonna spread.. strictly yu nadians
The prices of Xbox One and Ps4 games here are insane in the membrane.
€70.
Imagine paying that for Shadow Fall or Ryse.

Same. New releases have been 70 euros for any console for quite some time now. Everyone i know order from the UK for cheaper because for EU prices, it's way to expensive. But even pre-owned copies of AC4 are going for 30 EUR.
To me, G2A is simply unmatched. 35-30 euros on brand new releases is awesome.

You know, I don't feel bad for you, sean. You decided to spend 70... on a Killzone game.
For shame, man.

But I heard Killzone is one of the greatest FPS's of all time? Are you calling people around here liars?

The joys of launch consoles lol.

Yes, I am. They're wrong.
I understand that, but I expect they will in the next year or two.
why would you still expect that?
so because the price increased in canada to match the value of the u.s. dollar, the games for u.s. to increase? wouldnt that further increase the price of canada to match? and isnt that going to further drive up the price of games higher? -ur logic
so are we just thinking this because you are trying to match up numbers? so ps4 is like what? 40,000 yen...maybe next year ps4 in america sells their system for 40,000 dollars?

Killzone is hardly one of the greatest FPS of all time (though one could argue K2 had one of the best MP FPS on consoles of all time) but it also isnt the "abortion" of a game people on SW make it out to be either. I'm not a fan of the series but I enjoyed the games for what they are: Mindless FPS action

I know your pain. That's why I buy online or wait for 20 euro deals.

This ^ ^ ^ ^.
I wouldn't pay $70 for a video game. I'd wait for the price to drop or get it on Ebay months later. The game would have to be AAAAE and have some serious replay value for me to pay $70 for it.
Hahah I haven't spent $70 on a video game since N64 games. Glad I play most games on PC so I don't have to worry about ridiculous game prices.
Right, $70 for a game is just ridiculous. Just another reason why I love my PC.

lolz how badly to the eurozone get screwed over?

Nope. There was a time when Canada always paid more than the U.S., you just remember and grew accustomed to that VERY small window when things got about equal between the two countries. Being that I've been alive longer and have family in both countries, to me, things are back to what I was used to for decades.

400 dollars in euros is 293 euros. There's VAT, and other considerations, but that's the raw exchange.
PS4 is 450 euros in my country. If i bring from the UK, it's 430. :/
One of the best things about PC gaming is that although you may pay more for the hardware, especially as an enthusiast, the software cost is significantly lower. All the crazy digital sales aside, buying from GMG at launch almost always guarantees spending under 40 USD.

Yea, but their price recently has increased over the passed year.

Yes, I know. As I said besides keeping up on the news (this is old news btw that games increased), I have relatives in Canada.
That "window of time" I was talking about was the last few years of last gen up to the increase recently. Minimum wage is higher in Canada in any event. In the U.S. it's $7.25 per hour, whereas in Canada it's $11 per hour (up from 10.25 which was still higher). The Canadian dollar retains a lower value, but the citizens get more per hour to make up for that (other factors at play as well, but I'll keep this simple).
Anyways, to answer: No, games aren't rising to $69.99 in the U.S. anytime soon based on the old news of next gen price increases in Canada. The answer also lies in what was described by the second post (and as I recall, another Canadian poster):

Me too. KZSF was one game I wish I had've waited until it was much cheaper or borrowed. The single player was so slow it made it atrocious, the mp was dead very early on and the maps are so forgettable. I wanted to like the game so much, but it just wasn't there for me.
