Very funny how PS4 Pro is bigger than XB1X despite being weaker

I think just this does tell a lot about their hardware engineering and their design at the company. If a software company like Microsoft can make it a 6 TFLOP console that can play 4K 60FPS titles in a smaller package than XB1S why can't Sony do the same thing?

Isn't the power supply inside of the Pro? That'd amount to some volume XBone power brick is half the size of the console. That's good for heat, but needs to be accounted for if size is compared.

MS could have configured for bigger X1X spec'ed machine e.g. 7 TFLOPS.

Vega 64 has at least ~1600 Mhz clock speed with 64 CU.

During year 2013, MS/Sony was about 150 to 200Mhz from AMD's then flag-ship R9-290X GPU.

When Vega 64 arrives, AMD's flagship clock speed gap with X1X is about 428 Mhz.

The whole 'But Microsoft is a software company' is so overplayed. MS has been capable of making good hardware for a long damn time now. They're not new to making hardware either. In fact, they've been doing it since the 80s.

To answer your question, it's because Sony didn't create an entirely new system architecture. The Pro is essentially two PS4's slapped together. Couldn't you tell from the design? lol

1. Every other Playstation console (at launch) has been smaller than Xbox with the exception of last gen (which they were about the same)

2. Xbox One was HUGE, couldnt possibly get any bigger.

3. PS4 didnt have anything to prove, their original system was already sleek

Because Sony is smart. They invest in games and know that a cheaper but capable console will attract more people. Instead Microsoft is all talk about hardware but they forget to invest in games. Besides Sony has first party developers like Guerrilla Games who can make a game look better than the ones on xbxxoxx

I would sooner they make a larger console and use the extra space to make a bigger cooling system that cools better and quieter.

Good to see them put a lot of effort in their hardware design. It's what gamers asked for after Xbox One, so they should be very happy with it. Does someone have exact sizes, or comparison pictures? Would love to see how much smaller it is than the OneS or the PS Pro.

The OG Xbox One was big because MS didn't want to take a chance again like the 360. Also it was suppose to be on most of the day for watching TV and Sports.

X1X's height is less than X1S.

MS did the right choices with the OG Xbone, I hated my hairdryer PS4, got loud as ****. I even opened it and changed the thermal paste, it hardly worked. OG Xbone is really quiet, too bad that's also because I hardly play the thing. Even the PRO can get noisy at times, but it's not as bad as the OG PS4 I had (white model).

@Epak_: I had a white bloodborne one as well and it got really loud at times, I too opened it to see if there was something wrong with it but couldn't find anything odd, not even dust, Pro doesn't even make half the noise

I wonder if all the white models are like that. I noticed that some black rubber padding was missing from that sheet of metal (EMI shield), the little black pads surround the place where the heat sink connects to the processor. I cut one pad in half and replaced the missing one, for some reason it seemed to work, still not perfect though.

It just mean MS finally learned to stop wasting money on stupid Kinect and start spending money on the console it's self. Took them over 3 years to realize no one cares about TV, Kinect and always connected BS.

So this is the result... A console that is focused on what it was made for... RAW Horse Power. This is what they should have started the gen with. It's a good thing Phil took over... Goofy was really screwing over Xbox. Peter Moore translated the Xbox brand into something it wasn't during the 360 years... A causal friendly console with a gimmick. Goofy took that idea and ran with it.

If we ever get a new console gen... I really hope... They keep this lesson they learned in mind.
