GTA5 is the most overrated game ever. Lol I was flakked so many times for this.

Absolutely not. That bar fight was absolutely lame. Waking up in a derailed train hanging over a precipice was much better of an opening.

Naughty Dog's older franchises were much better, console gamers seem to love linear crap TPS like uncharted/last of us just because it pushed graphics... "dat movie game"

Mario kart has gone way down hill.

Crysis 1 was a boring empty sandbox with "okay gunplay" ... it would of been better Crysis 2 style. because the island was an empty mess of nothing.

Most sandbox shooters (Crysis, Far Cry) are crap.... which leads to:

Most open-world games that are not rpgs are crap.... anything made by ubisoft (ass creed even though I liked, Farcry and upcoming hacker game) are boring "go to the diamond on the map a million times, wander around a pointless open world enviorment.

I did not think the PlayStation 2 was that good of a console. It was my least favorite console of it's generation and it is my least favorite Sony console.

Everything is garbage.

I have little respect for Valve. And I found the majority of their games to be very boring and Source to be a poor engine.

I dislike set pieces and cinematic gameplay more than anything in the industry.

I think story should be deemphasized with most games going for a minimalistic plot save for a select few. Reason for this being that most game stories are just flat out terrible and if you are not going to do a good job, dont put it in the first place.

No voice acting>Voice acting.

Prior to gen 7: WRPGs>JRPGs. Gen 7: JRPGs>WRPGs.

While it isn't anywhere near there yet, the concept behind Kinect has potential.

The XIII games are some of the best FFs made. Bioshock 1 is meh. Hyperdimension Neptunia>>>>>> a good chunk of WRPGs.

Final Fantasy XII is the best Final Fantasy.

Twilight Princess is the best Zelda.

People who say "stories don't belong in video gams" are ignorant. The medium is young, and how is storytelling supposed to improve when everyone shuts out it out? There's room in the industry for games with stories and games without stories.

And finally, it's obvious that the trolls and fakeboys are bad in System Wars but there are quite a few snobs on this board who think they're opinions are law. Those people also whine a lot.

The fact that we ignore platform exclusivity in our metagame simultaneously breaks the game and makes us appear as a community unwilling to change even though our favorite hobby has changed drastically... Its sad and quite pathetic.

In a few months we can all talk about the multiplatform super smash brothers, mlb the show and Titanfall even though those three games offer tremendous value to the platforms they're on. We'd rather pretend it's 1995 in system wars....

TW2 was an aveage game with bad (fable like) combat but had good graphics.

Lost Oddessy was a average to bad JRPG, the 7.0 it received from GS was more than generous.

Choosing CD-ROM over cartridge was a step backward for gaming

Halo 4 has the second best campaign in the series, tied with ODST (of course Combat Evolved has the best). However if you think the multiplayer is in any way not garbage you are part of what is wrong with the industry.

Resident Evil 6 was a better game than Resident Evil 5 and a pretty good game overall.

Bethesda is a mediocre developer that releases unimpressive, buggy, poorly-written games that everyone adores because apparently quantity > quality.

Mass Effect 2 is the worst in the series.

The Arkham games are grossly overrated, the reviews Arkham Origins got are what the series has always deserved (even though it's my favorite one).

Wind Waker is the worst 3D Zelda I've played.

Uncharted 3 without the awkward pirate section would probably be the best Uncharted.

Demon's Souls was far more fun and satisfying to play than Dark Souls.

Resistance was a fantastic series.

GTA IV deserved the 10.

I was in shock that it has been 5 years since that thread (and his disappearance). I don't think I've seen him post since then. But yeah, those were some good days for sure.

I think he even made the GTAIV hype thread. Or maybe I'm mistaken. I'm pretty sure he had a GTAIV avatar too

Only good thing about Halo is soundtrack and multiplayer features

Assassin's Creed 3 was pretty good, most of the criticisms people use are true to an extent but way overblown IMO

Since so many people hated on GoW3, I'll say it's my favorite of trilogy- sure story isn't very good but the blades of exile are insanely fun to use. The alternate weapons are also the best in the series.

Anyways here are some of mine:

Bethesda games are boring. Even if they were polished they'd still suck

SOTC is one if if not the most overrated game I've played with horrible framerate, a dull overworld, and awkward horse controls along with a bad camera. I do love the Colossi fights and the art and OST are nice but that's about it.

The other ones would be OOT and SM64. In fact even back in the late 90s I felt SM64 was surpassed by other 3D platformers. Moreover the NES and SNES Mario games were better then SM64.

Racing sims are boring and the Forza vs GT war is arguably the worst debate on SWs.

The Kingdom Hearts games on the PS2 are way to repetitive and the second one is way too easy with a dull opening that dragged on way too long.

As much as I criticize WW I still think it's the best game of 2003.

FFXII is one of the best in the series. FFVIII is still garbage.

MK64 > MKDD

Fire Emblem Awakening > Fire Emblem (GBA)

One more thing: RE4 is the only amazing game in the Resident Evil franchise.

dead space 2 is the best game in the series.

Nier is the best game square-enix has made.

I have plenty of popular opinions to share however :P.

The Mass Effect Trilogy is the best series of games in the last decade.

Earth Defense Force, the first one for last gen not its sequel, is one of the most addictive games ever made.

Neither of the last 4 Call of Duty's were great. Not one of them. They were fun, but nothing at all great.

Voice Commands for the Xbox One work fantastic.

I just don't care if a game is 1080p native or 720p upscaled to 1080p. I do care about the game being very good.

Console gaming will never deliver the graphics of a high-end gaming PC.

Gears of War is a hit and miss franchise and neither of the last two match the SP of the first one.

I don't see one reason to own a PS4 anytime soon.

Ryse is an amazing game.

The Battlefield series is mediocre and overrated.

That hurts, man.

Its actually okay to enjoy COD or Madden.

In no specific order:

Splatterhouse (360/PS3) is a great game.

GeoW is overrated but good.

Halo is waaaaaaaaaaaaay overrated. Only liked 4 (and yes, I played them all when they were launched).

GoW is overrated.

MGS is meh.

Mario is a boring character, Link or Samus, or even a Metroid should be Nintendo's pet.

OOT is not the best Zelda game. ALTTP, Majoras Mask, ALBW and Wind Waker are better.

RE Remake is the best RE game.

Horror games died two gens ago (there are still a few like Amnesia... and that's it. All the other games people call scary are not. Grow up.).

I like Xbox One and play COD almost every time I turn it on.

Curses, violence and blood do not make a game mature. Again, grow up damn it.

Reviews are personal opinions and have no more weight than any other persons comment on a game.

I could go on but got bored.

It's possibe to enjoy COD and BF and Rising Storm, as well as story driven singleplayer games like TLOU

The UI/skill trees/inventory management in Mass Effect 2 and 3(despite being simple and limited) are way better than the clusterf*** UI and RPG elements in ME1.

Here's some:

-Dragon Age 2 was interesting and very composed in what it did for the DA franchise. I loved DAO but it kinda' got on my nerves how everyone seemed to jump on the warden's dong...I like the fact that Bioware took the 'insignificant hero' approach and it made Hawke's situation much more realistic in relation to the setting of the game.

-I see nothing wrong with microtransactions.

-Inide games are crap.

-I never considered Saints Row a GTA clone, and (at one point: pre-SR 4) thought it was slightly better.

-Valve= highly overrated.

-Bethesda (love em' to death but..) are overrated.
