Uncharted or Gears of War - which is the better franchise in your opinion?

I played all Uncharted installments, so GoW for me since it's sci fi and has some gameplay and enemy variety meanwhile Uncharted firefights become stale in a few hours of gameplay.

This is like choosing between...

...a giant douche and a turd sandwich.

But actually not that difficult; I could not get more than a couple hours into any of the Uncharted games (yawn!), but I've played plenty of Gears.

If neither existed, however, I wouldn't miss them.

Pretty sure by now you guys know my take.

Uncharted having more vertical elements adds to its encounter design options, which is why I agree that UC has better highs in its single player. BUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, Uncharted single player is really shallow and ultimately skippable.

Gears of War multiplayer which has peaked ages ago, has a skill ceiling that is worth chasing with wall bouncing n cancels, makes the multiplayer a lot of fun, and offsets the shotgun rng nature people associate with that game when they play it straight cover shooter. One could argue it's outclassed by better multiplayer shooters, and I don't disagree, but that's still a short list of games.

In contrast I can play much better single player action games than the Uncharted games, its adventure elements don't do shit for me, especially on replays. SO while some of the evolution is appreciated, the cover shooter being as shallow as it is happens to be a hurdle too far for these games. There is a reason playing the game like a cover shooter, is the punishment part of Vanquish's combat loop.

Uncharted for me enjoyed all 4 games.

Played the first 3 gears but somewhat forgot what they was like although enjoyed at the time, recently started Gears 4 and its bad. Shooting is garbage, level design is garbage just walk through a door a wave of enemies come, quiet hallway to another wave repeat.

The only decent part is that the AI isn't too bad they run around and diversify. If the other Gears are like this then Uncharted is definitely much better.

I can tolerate Uncharted. Gears of war put me to sleep.

Now can you type that in English? I don't speak 'niche'. Actually don't bother, literally nobody on these forums care what you say.

Uncharted 2 > Gears of War > Uncharted 4 > Gears 3 > Uncharted 3 > Gears 2 > Uncharted 1 > Gears 4

From best to worst. so Uncharted by slight edge.

Overall I prefer Gears, but I did really like Uncharted 2. Great game.

I’ve never played Uncharted, to be honest it didn’t appeal to me, but I’ve been hooked on Gears since the beginning. The campaign and multiplayer are both great and addicting, good graphics and intriguing characters/story. I’ll have to get around to trying Uncharted soon.

I don't care for Uncharted 4's MP but I don't care much for Gears multiplayer either. Too samey, all people do is wall bounce and use the Gnasher. I did enjoy Uncharted 2 and 3 multiplayer (co-op and pvp) and wish they would have ported them over the with The Nathan Drake Collection.

Campaign wise, Uncharted wins. No question about it.

Its a known FACT, just because YOU don't like it, it doesn't change that FACT, you need to build a bridge and get over it.

I'm not a fan of either franchise, but at least you need 2 hands to play the latest Gears game, Uncharted 4, yeah not so much.

Hopefully you got plenty of tissues as you cows are in need of them a LOT lately :(

I say Gears since I will keep returning to it for the multiplayer.

Uncharted is good if you like Indiana Jones... good dialogue and characters.

4 has the best writing imo.

Gunplay is meh and setpieces are cool. Definitely one and done games

Try the fourth one. It actually has pretty smart dialogue. Funny/charming game.

I mean it won’t beat any of the gears of war games gameplay wise but will kick you out of the notion that uncharted sucks hopefully and if not than to each his own.

Also Gears of War story/dialogue is not bad. After 1-3 and judgement it picks up.

Coalition did a good job lifting the story/dialogue while maintaining/improving gameplay

Forza > Gears >>> Halo atm

Although I prefer gears of war to Forza games

Hopefully infinite will improve halo

1 was amazing for it’s time but was basically a showcase for the 360 and lacked diversity in its scenery that 2 had.

I never played three but 2 was the bees knees.

4 is better than the original trilogy and judgement (I might get hate for saying that)... haven’t played 5 yet

Gears always had more consistently good games, I only like Uncharted 2

Single-player - Uncharted

Multi-player - Gears of War

They were rather close when it was 1-3. Although I consider Uncharted 2 one of the greatest gaming experiences ever, so it gets extra bonus points.

Uncharted 4 craps all over Gears 4 easily. Gears 4 is a bore and a chore to finish.

Gears by a good mile

Used to be Gears. Is Uncharted these days. Maybe it's the fact that mediocre Gears games keep releasing, tarnishing the franchise.

Due to Quarantine, Im tryna platinum the entire franchise and its sooo much fun.

Decided to give the Uncharted 4 multiplayer a whirl today. There are still people who play and I had no problem finding a match. It's still pretty fun. Way more fluid than Gears.

Uncharted's SP is better, but I got bored of the series during the campaign of UC3. Gears SP has always been soso to me. I often times quit in the middle of the campaign and play MP. But I play the MP for many months. So Gears edges out Uncharted barely, all things considered.
