This weeks issue of MCV has revealed that New Super Mario Bros 2 for the Nintendo 3DS has sold 29.4% more launch units than the original New Super Mario Bros did on the Nintendo DS. However, it should be pointed out that the original New Super Mario Bros saw sales spike over the summer and the game eventually sold over 450,000 units by the end of 2006

Cool. Even though it looks like a straight up rehash I'm probably going to enjoy it more than SM3DL.

They are idiots for buying a game they'll enjoy?

Okay...

Also, Iwata said they won't milk the NSMB franchise, despite it's great sales.

Perhaps it could also be the fact that the 3DS is region locked. I got the imported version of NSMB1 at release.

It's only bad when it's not someone's fanbase or company. You know that.

Yeah, I'm not sure why Bread_Or_Decide is so bitter. Did Nintendo touch him inappropriately or something?

NSMB is milked to an extent, but the real problem is how uninspired the games are.

Even so, its a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong stretch trying to compare this to CoD.

Over the last 6 years there have been 3 NSMB titles. On top of that the titles are only one per platform. So call it milked all day if you want, but don't try to put it in the same boat as CoD.

If you want to compare NSMB to CoD then you might as well throw in God of War, Gears of War, Halo, Uncharted, Killzone, Infamous, Forza, Fable, Resistance, etc.. as all these titles come out more frequently and multiple times per platform.

I can agree from an innovation/gameplay standpoint NSMB and CoD are similar, but also keep in mind NSMB isn't released annually.

and NSMB U comming in some months so it would be 4 NSMB games in 6 years, also if we count "Mario" games its even bigger ....just saying, its still not super mega big i know but its milkage, imo

No one said otherwise.

Isnt Mario one of the most consistantly high quality and longest lasting game franchises ever? Meaning quality from the name alone is almost garunteed in the eye of the consumer? Sounds inteligent to me.

No, you see games must be "mature" that caters to horny 17 year olds by having brown colours, realistic looking graphics and half naked women in it! Things like fun doesn't belong in here. /sarcasm.
