Have been playing Assassin Creed Valhala using Ubisoft Plus subscription service, and let me say this... Ubisoft+ is an absolute garbage service.

I have never seen so much distrust for paying customers like from UBISOFT. Not only they are charging me a staggering fooking 20 bucks for it, it also requires a constant internet connection, but as soon as your connections falters for a sec, it closes your game without saving. These absolute motherfookers.

Imagine that a game, Assassin Creed Valhala, drops to your desktop occasionally every 20 minutes, because your internet slowed down for a sec. Even fooking online gaming streaming services have better optimization than that.

I installed the game on my SSD, do you really fooking need to check for my internet connection status every second.

BUT BUT...THAT WAS NOT FOOKING ENOUGH.

UBI just "FORGOT" to include achievements in a PC version. A massive open world game that fooking lacks achievements at launch... Just an ultimate middle finger to the paying customer on PC. How you can fooking forget something so simple and basic as achievements for a PC version? What is this, are we back at 2010 again?

You know what UBI... FOOK U too!!!

EDIT:

Apparently they made some fixes in their connection issues with the plus service. First 5 days were really painful to play, the game dropping to desktop every 20-60 minutes without saving, and me having to replay long gameplay sessions all over again. But yesterday, i was able to play the game without interruptions.

XP challenges are no replacement. 100 achievements vs some 20 xp challenges, half of them i already unlocked 5% in the game. We need proper achievements with unique icons like in previous games.

Ubisoft are shite, and I was contemplating re-upping Uplay+ for Valhalla, and genuinely didn't want to waste that $20... I'd blow 10x that on a night out lol.

Yeah, as much as these subscription services make sense commercially, I for one will not be partaking in them. Too many strings attached.

Certainly won't be paying Ubisoft for another Assassin's Creed. 0% interest in the franchise now, especially after Shy (a YouTuber I subscribe to) just yesterday showed me how she slogged through four different open worlds for 38 hours and only got 27% progress into Valhalla. That game sounds bloated as all Hell, no idea what Ubisoft were thinking.

They are solid for drop-in and drop-out. No doubt this will be addressed in the future, but subbing for a month or so can be beneficial for gamers... Hence why publishers will no doubt adapt lol.

Yeah, I get that. It's just not very compatible with my gaming habit at all. I rarely play games at launch, and get distracted very often.

Nah, it's just not for me.

Nothing wrong with that. I have the getting distracted often, whilst also buying games at launch issue, and it's shitty.

A lot of well respected game companies are really trying their best to destroy their reputation.

Originally, They said that they didn't forget to add achievements...that it was intentional. They were "moving away from the old achievement system with Ubisoft Connect and will start implementing "challenges" going forward." Unfortunately, this was a dumb decision at the moment & I agree that they shouldn't have removed the old system until the new one is ready. Also, the always online sucks for Uplay+ is trash if true.

“Achievements are not available for this title on PC, and this is an intended change,” Ubisoft support staff wrote in a thread on the official forums. “Instead of Achievements for new games on Ubisoft Connect, instead we have expanded the Challenges, which provide XP and other rewards on Ubisoft Connect.”

------

Now it seems that the are back-peddling on what they originally were doing lol. *facepalm* They claim that the original statement was false. I'm not sure if I believe that at all.

They probably should've stuck with their guns with the original excuse, because now they just look like morons tbh..

They're a very underwhelming developer. Their games are simply copy and paste from previous titles which is very obvious with their Far Cry, Watch Dogs and AC series. On top of that they can't optimise to save their lives. It's really no surprise their services are rubbish as well.

Ubisoft have a set of balls on them. £12.99 a month for that?

Compared to what Gamepass Ultimate offers you a month for £10.99.

That sounds terrible and needs to be fixed. Kind of typical self sabotage from Ubisoft when it comes to PC gaming. However this should be fixable.

Yeah, but Ubisoft doesn’t have the same benefits of luring someone into their eco system. The ultimate edition for Watchdogs + Valhalla costs $140 each in my country. Compared to that $18/month (local price) for Ubisoft + is almost reasonable 😅

Good point. Ultimate Editions are ridiculous. Just for the Ultimate Edition, of the new Assasins Creed game, ranges from £49 for the Standard Edition, to £99 for the Ulltimate Edition. It's outrageous. Don't forget to check out CDKeys.com. I just got the Ultimate Edition of Forza Horizon 4 for under £20 cheaper than the Gamepass sale price.

Their pricing is outrageous when compared to Gamepass or even EA. The fact that their getting away with it is sad - but not surprising and will probably encourage others to raise their rates.

So yea eff them

1. AC Valhalla IS probably the best AC game i have ever played. The Vikings setting is sublime. The story and quests are great.

2. I am a completionist.

3. Cheaper than paying 120 bucks for ultimate edition or 80 bucks for a regular one. One month will be enough to complete the game.

4. Nop. 1Gbs, ethernet cable connection to modem. Still says connection lost for some reason, even though the web browser loads everything just fine. I guess they had some optimization issues.

Apparently they made some fixes in their connection of the plus service. First 5 days were really painful to play, the game dropping to desktop every 20-60 minutes without saving, and me having to replay long gameplay sessions all over again. yea I've avoided game sub services other than Gamepass, which has had its own issues.

I don't play nearly enough Ubisoft games to justify the 20 a month price tag.

Can't say I care about achievements. I've been playing Valhalla and... its actually pretty good? they've FINALLY improved their writing and voice acting. at least for the main story.

Literally the second AC game after Black Flag that i'm actually really into

I am already having some buyers remorse with AC Valhalla, but I blame myself. Game is just so rough it is sick. Bad HDR implementation, performance issues, glitchy NLC dialog and behavior, my character got frozen stuck climbing a wall once.

Anyhow, service is garbage, are you at least in a trial month? Anyhow, game like always auto-saves on the XSX, does it not for you?

Anyhow, ditch the service, sounds horrible. What makes Ubisoft worse is their support staff is absolutely goddamn worse, good luck making them notice your displeasure. They will spend more time making you think problem is on your end than forwarding your issues to be addressed by development staff.

You need to be more assertive with support. Don't let them dictate the conversation. If you know what you are doing on your end, then speed up the process and get what you want out of them. Otherwise, you will be wasting time as they work through their script.
